@waarzitdespatiebalk Vorige week in Eenvandaag was er een oud-generaal aan het woord en die had het er over dat ze er ooit ruim 900 hadden. Op wikipedia zag ik staan dat het er eind jaren 80, 913 tanks aanwezig waren(zie: koninklijke landmacht pagina, korte geschiedenis). Als je bekijkt welk gebied ze moesten verdedigen in duitsland dan begrijp ik dat wel, alles tussen ruwweg Hamburg-Bremen tot aan de grens met oost-duitsland. Maar het blijft een mooi bedrijf. En ooit rolt er weer een tank!

Maar ooit zal er wel een tank rijden, maar waarom verkopen ze nu niet eerst die YPR's, en dan nog 6 van de 10 mijnenjagers.

@waarzitdespatiebalk Ik denk niet bezuinigen op mijnenjagers en pantservoertuigen helpt. Er liggen immers nog vele mijnen op zee en de infanteristen hebben voertuigen nodig. Ze moeten het budget verhogen naar het minimale NAVO niveau van 2% ipv van het brengen tot 1% van de totale overheidsuitgaven. Allemaal de schuld van Cohen en Verhagen. Cohen had gewoon moeten instemmen met een PvdA-VVD-CDA coalitie. Zonder dit kabinet zou er waarnschijnlijk niet zo hard gesneden worden in defensie.

6 van de 10 mijnenjagers is idd geen slecht idee. De YPR's worden nog uitgefaseerd en ze leren om te gaan met de CV-90.. waarvan we blijkbaar veel nog niet goed werken. Maar ik denk niet dat er minder hard gesneden zou worden met PvdA erbij. maar ik ben al lang blij dat Groen Links nooit wat te zeggen krijgt. Ze willen defensie helemaal weg hebben en het OV (dat toch al niet werkt) meer geld geven.

Are you serious? I think even the Leopard 1 with a good crew could beat up with 2 or more T-72. The T-72 & T-90 have nothing on western tanks of the same tank class, no matter how old they are.

Maybe they was good as tanks. But every modern western tank(every since Leopard 1) would be superior to them.

Look the Soviet philosphy when it comes to tanks is simple.

Quantity over quality.

It was what brought them victory in WW2 and it's what they hold to this day.

A Russian tank is cheaper and easier to maintain and operate then the Leopard 2A6.

Simply bcause it's less sophisticated, now stop with all this dick waving.

These tanks are made with two different strategic doctrines.

Likewise the French Lecrec MBT is made with a different idea in mind as to there use.

@guitigefilmpjes I was simply saying that every tank is build to suit the strategic doctrine and requirements of the armed forces that use them and they fit this role the best.The Leclerc is very strong when it comes to speed and maneuverability and obviously suits the French doctrines when it comes to how they want their army to operate.The Israeli Merkava is build with the engine in the front an escape hatch in the back,

So each tank is the best for it's role so you can't say 1 is best.

@Durendal33 Like what i said the dick waving is...oww 1 Leopard 2A6 can take out an T-90 without problem.

This might be true in the right terrain (Germany Eastern Europe) and with access to maintenance facilities.

The Russians believe 10 T90's will face 1 Leopard 2A6 and be stuck in the mud in the middle of a nuclear wasteland with no spare parts available and a farmer has to replace it's tracks with his teeth.They don't have the same strategic considerations behind them.

@Durendal33 Talking about maintenance look at the Danish and Canadian operation of Leopard 2's in Afghanistan they require an entire logistic train and constant maintenance it's like half the Danish/Canadian army is required to have 2 Leo2's in operation at all time.

Thats a choice but maybe it's a bad choice.Maybe what you need is something else in Afghanistan then what you would want in Germany.
