To elaborate on the American guns thing, the way i hear it is that 90% of a SAMPLE of these guns were of US origin, and this %age can easily be manufactured since US-made guns can be readily identified before someone traces them. Also, i've never read that they explicitly came from the US market; they could be from the Mexican military, or from military aid that was intended for anti-communists in South America. American guns are everywhere already and to restrict you and me won't change this.

It's none of governments' business to "ban rifles' or firearms period. Government created the problems in the first place. Some states "banned" semi automatic military look a likes and these states have more trouble with them (California in example) than neighboring states like Arizona..now why is that?

"Assault Weapons" by definition are military grade machine guns. These are fairly well regulated already. Many of the weapons being used in Mexico come from corrupt police, smuggled in from Central america where the US government has shipped tons of weapons for various causes, and even shipped in from China and smaller unstable nations. Americans apparently need these guns to protect thmselves from violent criminals. Otherwise America will end up as dangerous as Mexico.

Maybe putting a bit more security at the borders would help. Who cares if Mexicans kill other Mexicans in Mexico? The fact is that despite this "massive terrorist threat," our borders are still wide open to illegal Mexicans and Al-Queda alike. Why?
