We used to have a 2003 Altima 2.5S. When the SE-R came out, my dad and I test drove one and, as much as we loved our 2.5S, that SE-R was amazing to drive. We then bought a 2007 2.5SL and my dad has had it ever since. I decided to buy a GM (A Pontiac G6) but I think I'll be going back to a Nissan after it's paid off!
I used to sell Nissans so I drove all the different model a lot. One think I noticed was that my 03 3.5 se 5spd was faster than the SER. I felt like you could shift faster with the SER but each gear seemed to have less power. In my 03 I only really need to shift once to hit 60 and I'm not even redlining or anything. I don't know why they made the SER slower. I think it's more looks than true performance at least in the acceleration category.
I got one, black, 06' 6sp. Cheap, fast stock. 28 on highway, 21 raggin the piss out of it. If you don't own one, don't talk shit. Cause you don't know. Handles excellent for FWD. Biggest sedan brakes. Fully loaded heated leather, 6 disk 8 speaker bose. just tie in to the stock subs with an inline converter and slap a 12" L7 solobaric in a comp box. You got urself a nice ride. pay 4,900 for a 8lb boost turbo kit and my friend you have a 320whp super sleeper. with groceries and 3 kids in the back
@thebaker7 The SER is great, just don't drive it in the snow. It is almost impossible. I think it's those low profile tires or something, but you can't stop or steer even at low speeds(15mph). Best to saty home or drive a different car in bad weather.
People just don't understand how much fun an Altima is to drive. Most people think the only thing out there that's worth any money at all is Camry's and BMW 3's. Bang for your buck, the Altima beats both. It only took one drive. I've now put 30k miles on my '08 Altima. I can't wait to see the next gen.

this car sucks. front wheel drive car without a tweaked differential to ease the power to the front wheels? they could have borrowed the revoknuckle or something... why does nissan always insist on keeping fwd with their 250+ horsepower sedans? because of that, they're extremely flawed in an engineering sense...
and i own a normal altima, and the build quality, handling, and brakes suck.
Ur the only one that thinks that, Altima is America's 3rd best selling car an i LOVE my 97 and 07 both have fanctistic build, handeling and brakes quite well, and interior is big on both, even the 97 is still near perfexct
Lol you must own a shitty altima then. My se-r runs 13.9's at 102 handles and brakes great and still get 21mpg! And many car companies have made 250+ hp/tq cars for fwd. Torque steer is there but it can be minimalized and easily dealt with. You probably cant drive thats all...
wow lol in my house theres 2 altima's one v6 and one SE-R. we love the altima line i my self own a 06 g35 coupe but i enjoy driving the SE-R a lot more. Way more exciting! you really got stuck with a bad altima which is RARE or Your LYING. because the brakes are perfect and handling is amazing for a fwd vehicle... Check the car Fax before you buy/lease another vehicle because you had to lease a shitty altima!!
@DRkid908 I have an 03 3.5 SE and the steering is boosted way to high and the handling is worse than my 1979 Chevette was. No excuse for the poor straight line handling. I've never had a worse quality car interior wise. It is fun the drive since it's so dam fast. It's a sleeper. Things improved dramatically in 05 though quality wise and handling wise, but the car slowed down a couple seconds from 0-60. Still a cool car. Can take most any car 0-60, but dies after that. can't have everything.
This Altima is so rare. I always wanted to see one of these. I hope they can make another one. The beast looks hot!

People just don't understand how much fun an Altima is to drive. Most people think the only thing out there that's worth any money at all is Camry's and BMW 3's.
