  • Irony is every successful pop artist we see with a piano is a Jew. Yet none of em can play half as good as this Asian kid on YouTube.

  • what's the name of the song 7:12 ?!?!?!?

  • @TheKingelias it's the ATC - around the world (lalala)

  • @OnlyWay100 I mean the one before ATC...

  • @TheKingelias ooh it sounds like he's saying boys boys by BTR i dont know though lol xD

  • @TheKingelias but then again. i cant find anything but that name...

  • hmmm im not into techno anymore now but the lessons were fun ^.^

  • sounds like leons boiler tracks.. i mean similar sounds.. =]

  • omg, the background noise 0.o

  • it is to improve playing piano, it's not something for beginners..............

  • Since no one else seems to be saying too easy or too hard, I'll cover that, it's good, maybe a little hard. I'm thinking I need to take some piano lessons to "get it"?

  • your 2 videos have got a high pitch ringing noise in them

  • 1:33 to 1:57 is amazing!!! did you make it up on the spot or did you have it pre-planned?

  • is this e minor harmonic?

  • Good lesson, I like your inclusion of theory for those of us who can't play by ear very well

  • so u can just experment with the keys right ?

  • I cant do that >:I if i hit a A note my other hand like hits a fucking C note :( they are fallowing each other how can i make them work seperatly?

  • @naeem19641 lol same here

  • hahah you make it look easy, great musician I can't say that from a lot of trance producers to be honest, but yeah i guess they have the ear to assemble it in the computer note by note, but to be honest as an instrument player you are much better than most of those.

  • seirously isnt there a step by step tutorial? Im still just lookin at my keybord, It just seems you showed us your skills not how to actully do like you did, all that fast part. Maybe im wrong maybe everybody here can play like he can after this tutorial.

  • WOW!! I LOVE THAT SONG!!! XD is there a download link?

  • Comment removed

  • dude you are kick ass but there is no way i could possibly do that

  • I want to know the name of firsh song, please! thx!

  • Could you possibley do a video that goes into more detail. Like showing what cords you are playing and a little more on the right hand

  • Don't play a complete song most people will just copy it. It's a tutorial on how to improv your own and you did a very good job on it. It sounds a bit classical, but that's because it's not a keyboard. really good

  • Where is lesson 3 lol, or perhaps the in-between lessons? 3 years later lol...

  • Play a complete song

  • ok... this guy is good but i think hes just showing off near the end lol wish i was that good :(

  • Very interesting. I like. *.*

  • wher in tarnation is lesson 3 please?

  • harmonic minor, right?

  • wow yor awsome

  • awesome....dude

    but i feel so dizzy

  • this tutorial is very good, i am very impress. i am sure a lot of beginners/amatuers of trance musicians could learn a lot from this video tutorial..

    :)

  • dang these tuts kept getting better xD

  • b e a utiful!!!! i now know i need to practice my cords and scales and why its important altho no one told me in the first place but i seen it in movies!! and thats good enough ...

  • props to this man, ima inspired rising soul. about to pop some trance in my hiphop:)

  • Very nice but that doesn't sound like trance music at all maybe some Tiesto bullshit =) that doesn't neither sound like trance

  • is this original song?kinda cute.

    Can we have notes?

    thnx

  • 1:17 is that mozart?

  • calm down

  • hmmmmmm get a feel for the chords

if thats getting a feel wtf is mastering

  • are you trying to really teach or show off?

  • @Pashsport show off

  • most techno/trance songs arnt that complicated

  • @kodyalucard17 actually they are.

  • great tutorial but terrible camera steadiness

  • Techno?????????

  • @hadoukenholder

try to play the same with detuned saws... just try to imagine at least.

  • ok ill try.....

  • @hadoukenholder trance

  • This is indeed amazing, but this didnt sound like techno/trance :p

I hate that camera kinda btw :P he's shaking too much :<

    But thanks for this tutorial!

  • @Hereson0 this IS true trance, maybe your into the new evolved trance. but the main instrument of trance is piano and wen trance first came out it was played on piano

  • @ryankhan11 Might be

  • love your piano, love your playing

  • you're great at piano, but this doesn't even sound like trance lol, more like classical, imo at least.

    it's still awesome though

  • frigging GENIUS!!!

  • your playing is great, but the camera guy is incompetent,...and altough he's probably a nice guy his tilting and shaking makes me hate him,...

  • AGREED!!!!

  • awesome playing

  • techno is repetitive with strong beats

trance has a more melodic side to it

  • that was amazing!

could you teach me arrapagios? how to figure them out?

and, do you live in Japan? you have a lot of japanese music :)

  • Trance/Techno is not my thing but, this has been an excellent set of lessons! They have concepts that can be used in any style of music, imo. Great work, cheers!

  • *mouth hits floor* that was sick.

  • translated to synths, this would easily be techno/trance

  • @enpointrecords Grab a violin and it's Vivaldi. Get an electric guitar and you have Iron Maiden. Why reinvent the wheel when you have a universal hub?

  • Since when does going to raves make you any kind of expert?

The things he is showing here are indeed the foundation which can be used to create techno songs. The only issue is that it's played on a piano, thus making it have more of a classical sound to it.

If he had used a synthesizer it would be easier to recognize.

  • OMG r u serius, trance is that old, i thout it was like a late 90's thing, woah

  • so ur saying rock music is in the late 50's and r and b in the late 80's?

  • You're a retard.

  • ME TOO!!

  • Lovely -- I want to learn how to play the piano

  • Dude your pretty dam good at that :P..

  • great guide

but u need at least basic harmony knowledge to understand it :D

  • Trance to me is a stylistic synthisized version of classical which fits in well with techno/ screamo ect. He is simply teaching the technique, but since it is on a grand piano it sounds like classical. This is the nitty gritty behind trance. I personally think it sounds extra awesome when combined to create trancemetal.

  • @AnnieLynn333 Well, not only classic, but Dream music like. If we were parent this class with electronical music sounds more like Dream. Pretty cool indeed!

  • @AnnieLynn333 man you are such a noob

  • @KizzaKhaz

What did she say that wasn't correct. He is trying to teach technique so that you can transport it and apllhy it to a synthesizer. It is definitely classical in sound.

  • @canaan1967 Anything on a piano can be classical in sound. What I'm saying is you shouldn't compare classical genius to a genre that largely caters to people who are hyped up on mind altering drugs. Don't make it more than what it is, all it is is party music. Granted some tracks can be beautiful, but at the end of the day most artists have NO musical training and don't know the first thing beyond 4/4 timing. Get me?

  • @KizzaKhaz So because I love trance I use mind altering drugs? gimme a break, at house or techno events the drug use is not different.

There is just a lot of similarity between classical music because unlike many other electronic genres, melody & nuance of instruments is important.

Its not merely party music, It is listenable at home when doing other things, sat port (especially running), in the shower, and before sleeping. Please give examples of artists w/o musical training when u say so.

  • @Aquinoxmusic Tiesto. He can't even read music. You lose. And trance was actually started back in the days when all the hippies were going over to the beaches of Goa to trip out on acid and listen to repetitive music. If you have a short attention span and the maturity level of a 15 year old child, then I guess it's cool. Yeah, trance is totally listenable when your exercising or in a cheesy porn. Man, you proved your point entirely. Totally similar to classical music.

  • @BTIshimura

    Age: 22

    Friends: none

    uploads: none

    = troll

Usually I ignore trolls like u, especially because I wasn't talking to you at all but let me tell you this, u are obviously very ignorant and know very little about what you are saying. You can say what you want but people appreciate what I am doing and the support & constructive criticism drive me to improve and continue

Just get out more and chill ;)

  • @Aquinoxmusic I like how you gauge how I am in my personal life based on the information in my profile. I usually ignore naive, pretentious plur pseudo-ravers like yourself, but in this case, no. What exactly do I not know what I'm saying? I think I proved my point well. You, on the other hand, can sit on your throne and try and gaze down on me, but really you're the troll and you're the one that can't come up with a valid rebuttal. No one appreciates a DJ with no musical talent either =(.

  • @BTIshimura Bravo... Bravo!!!

  • @Aquinoxmusic And your profile and soundcloud account really prove my point. You probably pirated a DAW and didn't even play a musical instrument prior =).

  • @AnnieLynn333 piano is a must in many trance songs. so... it does't have to sound like classical. :)

  • @AnnieLynn333 Your right, it would be completely different if a guitar player was playing the same notes, or if someone was running them through a synth. This technique can be applied to many styles of music

  • alright. quit with the camera person people, it's probably a digital camera.

  • shoot the camera person

  • This is really good,

lesson 3 please, I'd like to apply your ideas to piano versions of 80s songs,

    Thanks for posting

  • this is mint man! u should get logic

  • camera guy sucks. get a tripod gosh

  • If I were you I get a keyboard and some music software like FL Studio or Logic Studio so you can create your own music.

    See my videos :D

  • ans so on he says

  • good....

    realy good try my ,music;)

  • do you have a myspace??

  • your wonderfull =)

  • Still waiting for lesson 3 ;)

  • ... beacuse he can show off

  • wonderfully played. Please get a stand for the camera, its shaking....!!

  • it would be awesome to see you just go nuts in one vid showing us how epic you can get it

  • ooh yeah.............

  • sounds an awful lot like final fantasy 7 pieces which are still awesome!

  • Wow you're certainly a great piano player. However, since much of all the trance songs I've heard in the last ~15 years (100s if not 1000s of songs) haven't been played on a piano (baring a few songs and minus chords, secondary melodies, and intro/outro pieces) I can hear some of what you're getting at but it would make more sense to use a synth to explain this topic. And please spend more time explaining arpeggios since an overwhelming majority of melodic trance uses them to some degree.

  • DUDE!!!! AMAZING PIANO SKILLS :)

  • I loved the bit at the end, with those songs that I knew, and the advice not to accidentally play them.

I wish I was good at the piano.

  • Comment removed

  • hate to say it, but i kinda agree.. honestly im hearing very little trance in here, just some classical piano.. and youre very good at piano, but i think its kinda hard to create electronic trance music on a grand piano..

dont get me wrong, you are definately so much better at piano than i am, but this sounds nothing like trance.

  • Are you kidding? It doesn't get much more trancy than this. I think your lack of knowledge of music theory is why it doesn't sound like trance to you.

Unless I'm horribly mistaken on what trance sounds like.

  • i rckon jayboy is getting trance mixed with techno, tranciness is based on getting into that "trance" which can be fully achieved with a grand piano, techno is progressive use of synthetic chords with as much eq as ypou can pack into it, nonsence really, trance has a "air" to itself not found in much music except "strong" and "romantic" classical.

    Im doing music GCSE =P

  • Trance is definitely based more on classical melody. You're right, man. Techno is created on a computer, but playing trance with acoustic instruments is at least somewhat within the realm of possibility. Actually, that's kind of a good idea...

  • @onkelurkiks

    Static idiocy...

ever heard of a thing named tempo???

please show us your version of techno/trance

    come on....

  • try not to sound like anybody else?!?!? thats impossible theres billions of people making music now days thats just impossible gosh XD. great stuff otherwise, make something for the total begginer like me ^.^

  • Grade "A" for meaning well, but way too fast.

  • if by too fast you mean that the notes sounds run into each other then he could have used "gating" on the piano it would have sound nicer then. unless speed isnt your thing =)

  • I think DixieDan means the lesson pace is way too fast - I agree - he needs to slow it down because most of us aren't at his same level. But I also think it's a good effort - just slow it down a little or repeat so we don't have to rewind as much.

  • amazing

  • beautyful .

i has one question yet. maybe i missed it. you are playing on La minor on the lied motive But there's ,on the variations, some scale changes wich sound amazing .wich are those scale variations and wich scales do you recomend ?

    thanks ^.^

  • it is both this trance techno,it's simple the melody of both..he just play it on a piano version!! Anyone know what I mean?

He's right with that ! It is Trance/Techno

  • omg awsom

  • play it faster... ther ya go

  • omg its so hard. i think its because im using a keyboard. other then i love u. :) lol

  • EXcellent!Excellent!

  • you should make a separate video of this improvisation, just you playing, it sounds really good!

  • thats great.

    except the title says trance/techno!

thats great playing but i wouldnt call that techno

  • i bet it would make a great intro to a trance song...

  • that was great!!! thank you for posting these! they helped me loads!!!!

  • Your Brilliant!

  • what happened to lesson 3?

  • This guy should have done the filming to cloverfield, would off worked well.

  • awesome bro.

  • great tutorial.

and for those who think that this is a really bad tutorial for noobs, you're right. as said in the description, an intermediate skill level in piano or greater is recommended.

  • when you play the chords it sounds like a crazy hardstyle intro!

  • do you have any tracks made by yourself?

if not, you should get in the business fast!

  • genius........totally in style. totally tecno. great pianist

  • THE PIANIST :)

  • **shakes camera**

  • cool vid, nice playing.. plus the guy sounds like keanu reeves.. hahaha

  • He does, lol.

  • thankyou.

  • yo son, pianoist props, a notworthy intro to the stylitics, but include some intervalic concepts, to make it easier on those who don't quite have the scales down.

  • this is some great theory work like seriously it helped alot =D thanks- this tutorial helped my compsers block =)

  • ment constructivly.

Lesson 1 is superb however I feel this should be lesson 10 or ever 110. It is far too advanced for lesson 2

  • well...I just hear something beetween pop music and néo classical stuff... not really trance or techno.

And sometime this vidéo seems to be "look at me, I can play fast, bla bla", not really a lesson.

Keep a regular beat to play techno, that's the basis!!!

  • Sounds alot liek the music from .Hack/ very nice.

  • did you just make up that entire song?! starting at 1:30 ...cuz if you did..holly fuck thats awsome!

  • he is really good but its hard to play it like him and why the camera shakes like that, too much caffeine?

  • O M G You Are Amazing!

  • your not a good teacher man, just breaking into big solos and calling it simple isnt teaching

  • thanx for the help...

  • lol you just gotta get somthin easy and make it sound complicated like what he did

  • camera is shaking to much.. but anyways ur pretty good, how long have you practise playing?

  • Don't watch the video then.idiot!

  • did you teach yourself? and was this whole thing pure improvisation? heh.

  • lol

  • these lessons are great :)

  • whats that high pitch noise???? good video by the way....

  • dude you seriously need to make your own cd i'd buy it

  • nice !!!!

  • nice man i like these lessons.

  • Very beautiful! I agree with Cervan. You rock!

  • dude you rock.

  • but it sounds damn good!

  • That was so very nice. It touches on those deep dark complex elements that Bach, Beethoven and Listz used to create. Great talent you have! I'd love to be able to do some of that. Perhaps one day you could show those more complex parts slower for us with less keyboard ability.
