  • i cant believe the dad is such a wuss. He made the kid handle and save the "dangerous" owl ( I say dangerous as you can hear the dad talking about not touching the owl because of diseases. WOW. My boys would have laughed me out of the boat and bought me a dress if I would have acted like that guy. Not to knock your dad kid but Atleast theres a man in your house. He was dealing with the owl and the camera while some tool just sat back and was at a total loss and was apparently scared of nature

  • Hahaha - I also love your Dad ... so afraid that it was an attack owl. It actually could have attacked you, but that's the job of a parent, to keep you safe. Glad you didn't listen to him (this time). I also am curious ..... how di it end. Did it fly away, or did you take it to shore ?

  • I must commend you both for keeping your cool on a VERY unusual situation. You did everything right. Then leaving him be to rest and dry off. You have NO idea the damage that owl could have done to you if you hadn't done everything right, though they do seem to know when someone is trying to help them. As a lifetime fisherman and a wild bird rehabber...KUDOS TO YOU! Now you have one hellofa fish story to tell(and show!)

  • You ROCK for doing such a humane thing.!!!! You totally saved that owl's life and not all people would do that. I hope you getrewarded in life ten fold

  • Nice! That owl was just chillin. Cool stuff right there.

  • the cool

  • Dude that is bad ass way to save a life

  • my bad, the audio thing was my cheap pc.

  • the repeat audio was kinda stupid. I am glad that they did the right thing and untangled the owl instead of just cutting the lure loose.

  • Awesome job way to go!!!

  • how long did he stay there after you saved him ? :D

  • good job u saved him

  • if that was me i would of ate the owl! :)

  • It is very commendable that your son risked injury to help that beautiful owl. Great Job guys!

  • that is so awesome that he just sat there awesome frickin bird

  • That's Crazy! We have had seagulls take our mouse out of the water, but never an OWL!

  • I am glad that the owl didn't struggle too much and drown before you got to it. It would have helped if your son knew that birds (like horses) calm right down if you cover their eyes. Thankfully, Barred Owls aren't anywhere near as defensive as Great Horned Owls or the like.

There's another vid of a Barred Owl being rescued from discarded fishline here. Search for "rescuing tangled barred owl" without the quotes to find it.

  • And I didn't see that my son was wearing a HOOTERS T-shirt until the next morning! Bizarre

  • ...while wearing a hooters shirt. nice.
