im guessing your fan of wong kar wai works but why isnt you didnt put Chungking Express in your list? that score alone gave me chills more than the actual film itself. just wondering.
you have good taste XD believe me, I have seen the others compilations of best osts in youtube and they have the same things. Your compilation has original music, and genious movies
It's not that these songs aren't beautiful because they are, but none or 1 or 2 only will be remembered among the list. For instance, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible, James Bond, these are immortal themes and that's what I qualify 'Top'.
wonderful... and you have shigeru san in your list... you know if you ever get around to listening shigeru Umebayashi, his soundtrack for onmyoji is worth a look...
This really wasn't a bad list at all. I could hear whoever made the list has a taste in music. Although I was waiting for Eric Serra from the movie Léon, Hable con Ella and music from the movie Ame Agaru.

YAAWWN! Can't believe i sat through that lol. There was only about 7 of these that sounded half way decent to me. The rest just sounded like outdated music. Or something that you'd only get excited about if you lived in the 19th Century :). The Reconstruction one was Good Though! :). Maybe my ears just aren't old enough for that other stuff yet lol. I'm sure if you give me another 40 years i'll be giving this 10 Thumbs up :).
thats quite of a great list of movies you got here and of all the "best" score choices they have here posted by many users none of them got my taste.
those are w/c by the way, Cinema Paradiso & In the mood for love. and its good to know that the last 2 movies were all wong kar wai, i adore all the works of wong kar wai. his(WKW) Chungking Express has a wonderful score too.
Nice list, but a lot of the scores don't actually originally belong to the films. Like In the Mood For Love theme belongs to the Japanese film Yumeji by Seijun Suzuki. Same goes for most music in Babel, which wasn't composed for the film at all. The most beautiful theme there is composed by Sakamoto.
The other ones on my list: Thin Red Line/ Last Samurai -Zimmer Mockingbird - Bernstein Russia House & Chinatown Goldsmith The Getaway Q Jones Crouching Tiger --- Tan Dun Two for the Road --- Mancini Horse Whisperer ----- T. Newman The Natural ---- R. Newman 4 Weddings ---- R.R. Bennett Midnight Express G. Moroder
Mine: Ghost & Mrs. Muir/ Fahrenheit -- Herrmann Resurrection / Only the Lonely M. Jarre Schindler, Tourist, Stepmom, Deer Hunter J. Williams Once Upon A Time West -- Moriccone Ben Hur -- Rosza Gloria & Rocky - Conti Bagger Vance - R. Portman No Mercy ----- A. Silvestri America, America ---Hadzidakis Spartacus - A North Will post the rest on another comment because I exceeded the limit
MAN! U HIT MY TASTE LIKE A BOMB! I COULDN"T HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB! 2046 is the greatest movie ever made in the history of mankind and I'm actually restraining myself from getting the soundtrack, to enjoy the movie even more when I watch it... KEEP IT UP!
my best movie-soundtracks: 1. Apollo 13- James Horner 2. Lord of the Rings- Howard Shore 3. Pearl Harbor- Hans Zimmer 4. Pirates of the Caribien- Hans Zimmer 5. The Da Vinci Code- Hans Zimmer 6. a beautiful mind- Hans Zimmer 7. Titanic- James Horner 8. The Pianist - Frederic Chopin, Wladislaw Szpilman... 9. Harry Potter and the cammer of secret - John Williams hmmm i don't speak really good english.. like sorry...xD
Good choice with the Ennio music. He NEVER won a best original score Oscar! My personal choice for #1 would be "The Triple Duel" from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly by Ennio, largely because of how well it works with Sergio Leone's direction. True genius.
'RECONSTRUCTION' soundtrack is not an original one. It is actually 'Adagio for Strings' by Samuel Barber. It was used in other movies like David Lynch's 'The Elephant Man' and Rodley Scott's 'Platoon'. It was voted one of the saddest musics in the world.
While we do have contrasting tastes in soundtracks, there is no denying that the selections you chose are absolutely beautiful. If I may be so bold as to suggest a soundtrack to you, I would recommend you listen to Finding Neverland's soundtrack. It seems like it would be right up your alley.
@the2046 i watched your video and i felt like someone had read my mind.thank you for the beautifull music you shared with us.especially the yumeji 's theme and the polonais make me cry eveytime.
bravissimo!!
