Gov programs like Medicare, Medicaid always ran parallel to priv plans. Now we have a group in power that want priv insur to be replaced by gov insur. Barney Frank spilled the beans on the true intention of Obamacare- he said any gov option would lead to single payer down the road. (see the video barney frank confronted by single payer)

The ultimate goal is complete gov takeover of the healthcare insur industry. It is their holy grail and yours too?
