Just wanted to add that Ms. Goddard was born Marion Paulette Levy in Queens, NY, and Goddard Hall at New York University is named for her, as she bequeathed 20 million dollars to that school in her will.
She was one of Hollywood's most beautiful personalities. And a much better actress than most people gave her credit for. And quite intelligent....her husbands included the silent movie immortal Charlie Chaplin, the actor Burgess Meredith (yes, The Penquin himself!) and the world-famous writer Eric Maria Remarque (perhaps most famous for his WWI novel "All Quiet on the Western Front"). Thanks for posting this amazing tribute to the late great Ms Goddard.
Yippee Ki-Ay Paulette! Cooing, Ooh La La! Une Femme. Mamma Mia she's a Foxy Lady. That Kitty cat has claws, Paging Miss Goddard,... Paging Miss Goddard... Miss Goddard, we have a gentleman on the line for you.
Not a fan of tributes but this one is great the music fits great, which is rare, and i always come back to watch it, great work for this wonderful person Paulette Goddard :)
Hands-down Chaplin's greatest discovery. As soon as Paulette and character actress Mary Boland arrive on the scene in "The Women", they pick the film-up bodily, stick-it in their hip-pockets and NOBODY has a chance thereafter! Besides "The Women" and the two-Chaplin's my favorite Goddard performance is in "Diary of a Chambermaid", directed by Jean Renoir. She was also a wonderful foil for Bob Hope in their films together. Paulette was just plain "wonderful", period! R.J.
It is true - Paulette is still very underrated. And she truly had the movie star power and she was a very good actress, as well as interesting personality and great beauty.
FINALLY, a wonderful gift for all true fans of cinema. At last a great showcase of how beautiful, inside and out Ms Goddard was. She was a treat to watch on film and to think that she was the frontrunner for the part of Scarlet before Selznick meet Vivien; that would have been something. Thank you for the post!
Superfantastic! Nice, thanks for the video. I have been hooked on Paulette since Chaplin's "Modern Times". She was gorgeous, and she would be my reason for going back "Somewhere in Time".
I would have loved to have an other song for it (maybe something from her time :)), but still a very good tribute and it is nice to see so many different pictures and scenes of paulette :)
I'd rather spend an evening watching your beautiful videos than trying to find a good film on television or at the video store. When I was a youngster it was easier to find good old movies on television...I can't believe the slim offerings we have now. Thanks for another great video, Paulette was beautiful but earthy and real, too, not like the flimsy performers who are in films now. Keep reminding us of the great way things used to be!
Hasta con harapos es hermosa! (tiempos modernos).
