Rush does whatever they want so no matter what it gets better and better. They have said over and over they do what satisfies themselves and if people dig it that's great if they don't oh well
How can great musicians think they're getting "better & better"
when their albums are obviously getting duller & duller?
Their best albums were '76 through '80 or '81, all downhill from there.
Do master musicians get so hypnotized by small technical details that they lose sight of the Big Picture? It's just really hard to argue that a band like Rush "just kept getting better", even though I love a lot of their stuff.
@RUSH1200 you're that guy who wore kleenex boxes as feet to pam's and jim's wedding and putting the dogpuppies into the ice machine at the hotel... cool. or that kid who jumped lets say from ultravox to velamints.
Neil Peart just sounds so distinguished and educated when he speaks. I wish I had half the articulation and vocabulary skills he has. That intelligence is really reflected in his lyrics and drumming too.
we wish we could be that smart and not give a sh*t what others think... "the complacency of today's music allows musicians like Rush and others to succeed" peace & jah of course
this was great i love listening to niel "pert" talking about his lyrics if you have anymore of these interviews please post there arent enough rush interviews out there
@scarfacedan09 at oxford and cambridge you can get a masters in the beatles, so if canada doesn't have a Ph. D. in rush within the next 10 years I will have lost faith in humanity.
Absolutely. Anyone who disagrees with that needs help. I mean, compare a song like Between the Wheels to, say, I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Comparing Beatles lyrics to Rush lyrics is a huge insult to Neil Peart...
@BDizDaBest Dunno man, you're mixing two different types of giants there... don't use "I wanna hold your hand", use "Fool on the hill" instead or something. Both are great bands.
Alex had the most awesome hair in the 80s and 90s! They all peaked with the Power Windows album - Geddy owned a killer blow dryer and Neil was rocking the rat tail like no other could.
And I say this with the most love and seriousness. Rush Rules!
amazing how many peeps say they peaked with power windows. i certainly think power windows was their peak as far as being pop innovators. Hold your fire was almost corny in comparison, even (or even especially) lyrically.
Actually, I was referring to how their hair styles peaked with Power Windows, not their music. Rush continues to awe me with the new directions they take and have taken in music, as they do it so well.
But they will never again have such cool hair. The curse of old age I guess :)
lmao thats funny shit dude, but yup thats true, they were badass back then. But then ive always thought ged perfected his hair around counterparts. He looks like an elder john lennon now.
@dwilmer7 I thought they peaked with Hold Your Fire and A Show of Hands, best bass, Mission and Time Stand Still are my favorites of all there songs...

I think Geddy's look here is the best, very refined, not too old looking but still cool.

It's funny because Geddy looks completely eccentric but seems to try to act normal so you know he's a genius

was at the time? time is a gypsy caravan. never judge some randy jackson or j-lo or train kept a rollin all night long, with a heave, and a ho.
the train nevertheless was a runaway or a day aligned as so.
