If you want to play a good handheld port of Sonic, get the Sonic Classic Collection for the DS. Not only does it have Sonic 1, but it also has Sonic 2, 3, and Knuckles! And you can still lock on Sonic and Knuckles to Sonic 3 and 2! This collection is what Sonic Genesis should have been.

@cameron20101000 Less controls doesn't have to do with anything. All Sonic does is run, jump and spindash, and the amount of buttons on the GBA is enough for Sonic.

I MIGHT review those ports someday. I'm actually kinda interested in getting those games.

I played this game after i watched this review back in 5th grade. The only reason i played it was because i was at school. I saw all those mistakes and glitches. The spike collision detention in the labyrinth zone pissed me the most. I hate this game 2. Thumbs up If you agree.

Bullshit. The GBA has a lower resolution, fewer buttons, less RAM, and a slower processor than the SNES. The SNES beats it in literally every department except for size. Saying that the GBA is "better" simply shows your ignorance. In fact, some of the issues you're experiencing with this game are related to the smaller screen size. The same issues existed when Super Mario Advance 4 was being made, except it was dealt with better.

About the speed shoes. In Sonic Genesis, it also increases his acceleration, but he doesn't move any faster. Also, even though the anniversary mode has the spindash, it still sucks because if you get hit by enemies while you're charging the spindash, it counts as a hit.
