I live in TN and when southern people talk they always switch accents mid sentence so this is true to life.

This movie is standard against which I judge "terrible movies". The acting is pathetic, the script is both ridiculous and repetitive ("oh my god" every third line), and the ending was given away throughout the entire movie. Not to mention any of the blatant plot holes. But the worst part would have to be the terrible attempt at pseudoscience. I allowed it at first, but I lost it at "I'm reading traces of tachyon condensation". Really, it's just an awful movie.

I watched this movie because I love Disaster films very much. Well, the first part was very boring but then this movie keeps getting better and the ending was just....WOW!

Yeah, the accent is pretty bad. I didn't even realize she was doing a southern one until 2 minutes. Still love her though.

It is like she was born in England and grew up around Mississippi and can't make up her mind.

Mina's accent was not that bad! Why was everyone knocking it! I've heard worse!

BTW, James: Could you see Mina as M in a 007 flick or at best a very bad boss?!

Yeah her accent was not as outrageously awful as most let me to believe before I saw it. But was pointless the director or whoever instructing her to do that when the character has no background/could be from anywhere. Her british or Troi accent would have been fine!
