Bravo! Excellent video - proves once again that these collars in skilled hands can SAVE DOGS' LIVES.
Thank you for posting this.
BTW- the dog is uncomfortable because of his muzzle, but did you notice that his body language is not? His tail is not tucked, in fact it wags often, it wags when he is asked to "down" and downs next to the shepherd.
He looks like he is making amazing progress! Kudos!
so are you saying to get my dog to face his fears to overcome them ? he has dog aggression issues, no growling, no teeth baring nothing just once he gets close enough he bites the dog ! should i muzzle him and let him near other dogs so he knows that they mean no harm ?
I know of only 1 poorly designed study that used high levels of stim. I understand the PP view that in a perfect world we can desensitize these dogs. But that is not ALWAYS practical and other methods DO work also.
That's great that your training your dogs to be better in behavior! However, this doesn't help the neighbor's pomeranian from attacking my dog. Any tips other than suggest dog training?
I think the muzzel is fantastic. Forces the staff to be near a dog who is able to smell him and vice versa. I'm assuming you didn't take the muzzel off until after a massage and complete calmness as well. Good job. From a Shelter worker who wishes rehabilitation for dogs speads like wildfire...
Good job. Not every one method works for every dog, somes respond to correction, some to reward...but whatever works...works.
Hi there, I have a 2 year 2 month old Dobermann and he is very obedient in the house and when we're out he is fine as long as it's just us. As soon as he sees another dog or person, he immediately runs for them and wants to play I guess. He's very aggressive when he does play though. I have an ecollar and when it's on him he minds great. Will I ever be able to take him out without the ecollar??
using e-collars has become very controversial topic as more studies have been done. arising booming of e-collars being used on dogs other than what they were first used for, field trainers and hunters what we may call breeds (velcro dogs) has founded that using e-collars can cause damage and only freezes the behavior through "avoiding the shock/stimuli whatever you wanna call it, behavior is still there and the dog is only avoiding it but nothing has been worked through
What studies? Over the last 6 years I have successfully trained 100s of dogs with ecollars from basic obedience to extreme behavior problems. To be honest, I could care less if a study says they do work or they don't work. I KNOW they work the way that I use them because I have SEEN them work 100s of times. Used improperly I have seen them do what you describe, perhaps the studies should look at their proper use instead.
well in your videos you should describe when you are applying the stimulus or vibration. try explaining why you are using a e-collar and how it is going to help the situation and how it would calm a dog that is already not good with dogs...i would like to know what "properly used" is?
I didn't apply the stimulus once during this video. I have a three part formula for fixing aggression and I don't use the e-collar for correcting aggression, I use it for high levels of obedience.
There is not enough space to get into the 'how' behind my method. Besides, I charge a lot of money for the 'how'. The purpose of this video was to show the owners of the dog who sent the dog to me the progress he was making, they had never seen him with another dog like this and not try to attack.
the dog is very uncomfortable and for good reason having a muzzle put on can be extremely stressful for a dog with aggression, added using the e-collar is just a disaster.
Respectfully, how many dogs have you trained to fix aggression? Of course he is uncomfortable, he's never been around a dog like this and not tried to attack. Again, as this is his first time of course I am using a muzzle, I require safety when training.
You're right, he is uncomfortable. This is his first time being around a dog like this and not trying to kill him. He is holding himself back and that isn't easy for him. He has continued to become more comfortable from this point on.
What other methods did you try before this? The staff is very uncomfortable and this doesn't seem to build his confidence. GSD seems happy about the deal, though.
Thats some good training there!!! they listen to you! my staffy and my mother were in the park today, my staffy grabbed the leash and wouldnt let go, once my mother told him to let go he suddenly went crazy and aggressive and started leaping for her! got hold of her jumper and wouldnt let go!! its NEVER happend before with our boy ! any tips??
To bad once the muzzle is removed the dog goes right back to being aggressive.Certain traits u never can train away .
