@afterapplepicking MRE's are like any other food...some people like them, some can't stand them. I remember making "ranger pudding" with the cocoa and coffee creamer packets. It was pretty good chow in the field. I ate them when I was in the military many years ago and I'd still like to get some for my nephews to try, but I haven't gotten around to it.

I'm on christmas exodus from Ft Jackson and i gotta tell that, those Drill Sergeants are awesome. Yeah we get yelled at majority of the time but it's not like thats what they are all about. My DS is stern, detailed and dedicated but he also knows how to have a good time with the platoon and make jokes and what not.
That seems like a good DS. Our DS sucked. 2 of them left halfway through, one left for a good two weeks leaving us with one who didnt really care because he was getting deployed soon. And he said he didnt care, so im not assuming.
@BountyHuntFH95 from a current army drill sergeant, there are almost no videos of what we do when it comes to training. You should see what we do in the barracks or when the BN CDR leaves. What you see in videos like this are very scaled down.
@BountyHuntFH95 Army Drill Sergeants are either selected by the Dept of the Army, or volunteer. There are certain rank, retainability and GT score requirements. When selected, then you attend Drill Sergeant School for approx 9 weeks.
when you're a private in basic just starting out in red phase, and if you need inspiration, remember that the drill sergeants wake up earlier than you do and go to bed later than you do, every day. And they never show any weakness. I almost miss benning, that's a huge almost.

Man....drill sergeants are the best people you can ever meet. People who aren't in the Army or any military service don't understand. there is no way this is benning, at least not recently. Fox 2/58. we got jacked up endlessly all day by our ranger and sniper and 10th mountain drill sargeants until at least like week 6 or 7

I didn't have this DS at basic but I did see him at Reception. I had SDS Shomaker, DS Johnson, and DS Vargas. I had pretty laid back Drill Sergeants, but SDS Shomaker loved making us do diamond push-ups and flutter kicks. It sucked. The DS in this video was at Reception after he finished a cycle. I was in Fox company 2/58
All the My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment folks I met are some of the most disrepectful, ate up, people in the world, and have no sense in their tiny little brains. Id rather be a damn good soldier anyday then be a hot headed "my shit dont stink" Marine. And thats better why? All studies throughout time have shown strict discipline and mindless screaming of incoherent sentences in the face of a recruit are not synonymous. In fact, the US Marines are some of the only ones that feel like its necessary.

@staticline80 Usually the standards are different from company to company. At my Basic in Ft Sill we had metal frame ruck sacks that dug into your back while at my friend who went the year before had a plastic form fit frame. As for the hydration source, we got those 1980's canteens.

@Swordsman808 there are phases you go through in BCT. Red, White, Blue. Red phase i fierce, merciless, white phase is a little less fierce, yet you will be throttled more soo if you mess up, Blue phase is more of observing the troops, Smokings get worse cause you should have known better. basically its the first time soldiers experience "Crawl, Walk, Run". Gives the soldiers a chance to actually grow up with their new skills.

The Army is running the show in Afghanistan. The Army is doing at least 80% of the fighting. When it comes to full scale ground war like Iraq in 03, and Kuwait in 91? The Army lead the way in both. The Marines simply are NOT the superhuman fighters you seem to have been brainwashed to believe they are. Good luck in the Corps.

I didn't have this DS at basic but I did see him at Reception. I had SDS Shomaker, DS Johnson, and DS Vargas. I had pretty laid back Drill Sergeants, but SDS Shomaker loved making us do diamond push-ups and flutter kicks. It sucked. The DS in this video was at Reception after he finished a cycle. I was in Fox company 2/58

All the My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment folks I met are some of the most disrepectful, ate up, people in the world, and have no sense in their tiny little brains. @staticline80 Usually the standards are different from company to company. At my Basic in Ft Sill we had metal frame ruck sacks that dug into your back while at my friend who went the year before had a plastic form fit frame. As for the hydration source, we got those 1980's canteens.

@Swordsman808 there are phases you go through in BCT. Red, White, Blue. Red phase i fierce, merciless, white phase is a little less fierce, yet you will be throttled more soo if you mess up, Blue phase is more of observing the troops, Smokings get worse cause you should have known better. basically its the first time soldiers experience "Crawl, Walk, Run". Gives the soldiers a chance to actually grow up with their new skills.

NOTHING is stronger than the US Army in ground combat...its their specialty. Marine Corps official specialty is running out the back of an AAV onto some sand. The Army is running the show in Afghanistan. The Army is doing at least 80% of the fighting. When it comes to full scale ground war like Iraq in 03, and Kuwait in 91? The Army lead the way in both. The Marines simply are NOT the superhuman fighters you seem to have been brainwashed to believe they are. Good luck in the Corps.
