Part of this clip was the in the preview before the show aired, I heard "Gunny Hartman" (haha) say "I'm here to turn you slimy civilians into UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS SPACE AVIATORS!" and I was hooked from that point on! If you're a history nut, you'll love this show, it's like a futuristic remake of the Pacific Theater in WW2. Sneak attack, lose battles, then we have our "Midway" and start "Planet hopping" our way to the enemy's home planet.

It's funny, how "six weeks later" there's no sign anyone of the males ever got their regulation haircuts. Females aren't required to get as shorn, though even in their case there's not an effort to put their hair up while in uniform. Ermey should have put his boot down for this ep. in that regard.

The next three days will be filled with "in-processing" (paperwork, uniform issues, barracks orientation, etc.), and if you're lucky, you MIGHT get a good night's sleep on Saturday night.

it seems like to be a space aviator, the marine corp would require candidates to have gone through the naval academy, rotc, or ocs before even being allowed near a plane. and they for sure wouldnt let a convict into one of their cockpits.
