now a days in glasgow where im from the youngsters will be listening to daft rave sh**t! that was real music when i was a 20th century boy thumbs up if you agree!
One of Bolans best tunes! If you have a moment check out this new band I saw recently in Edinburgh, The Seven Deadly Sins - 21st Century Man its a cracking song!
I love this song, I love t-rex...marc may be gone but he lives forever in his songs...these songs will be here forever and ever long after we have gone...ROCK N ROLL IS TIMELESS!
Just saw the 6th page > 7th chapter > Vol 3 of the manga "20th century boys" by Naoki Urasawa where Kenji says: "That takes me back. "20th Century Boy"..." while holding an album by this band.
That made me proud of being a fan of both this band and Naoki Uarasawa :)
I got to see T. Rex 4 times back in the 70's, first time was T. Rex with Uriah Heep opening at The Auditorium Theater in 1972, then Three Dog Night with T. Rex and Lee Michaels opening for TDN at The International Amphitheater I think or it could have been Chicago Stadium , Doobie Brothers & T. Rex at The Auditorium Theater and Kiss, T. Rex, UFO & Hydra at the Aragon Ballroom, all these were in Chicago.

@mgrg40 a master of the 4 note riff, so simple and so GREAT, Bolan was the freddie mercury of the 60's, sadly both gone, but what a jam in the pearly gates. rock on
@awhiteman1986 actually a little of both, bolan formed t.rex in 1967, but they hit the "scene' in early 70's w/ jeepster, ride white swan, gong, metal guru.....point is he's gone (1977) & so is freddie
Love this kind of rock and I miss it. I'm almost 50 years old, but this song brings me back. Has way more energy and melody than anything I'm hearing out there today. Glad I grew up in those years.
@chalky2810 Yes, but not just for T. Rex! Don't forget all the other great classic bands we all know and love. I can't name any right now since there are so many!
I first heard this song in a commercial long ago and I wondered for years what it was. Until one day I finally heard it in a movie and just looked up the soundtrack. That was a great day.
I first heard of this song this past summer, and I couldn't figure out why I have never heard this on radio. Thanks to ESPN, I wonder if they will finally play this on radio after 38 years after it was released. It also was the intro to the Detroit/Green Bay, Thanksgivings Day game. I also heard it on a USA Network show, a few weeks ago!
I remember listening to this on my transistor radio, they don't make records like this anymore, I and my generation should have exclusive rights to listen to this....hahahah no, I'm kidding. I hate people who say this stuff. Shut up you old git, no one cares.
(@hearditman) i care! deepest respect for "your generation" when i hear baddass tunes like this one. young kids can rip off this riff but they can't BE IT. my dad knew, toured with Marc Bolan, lived in the exploding London of that time. these people were taking huge personal risks to push the medium this far. hold out some hope for the new kids though, art is like nature. always new good music happening, lightning just never strikes in the same spot twice. keep listening! cheers.
@mistery91able - definitely! i loves me all kindsa music from now (e.g Justice, Cephalic Carnage). i think it's easy for listeners to get alienated over time. you follow a favorite radio station for good new songs. then one day you wake up and there isn't anything you like on that station anymore, or any station. it's like music died. but the thing is, radio is just one venue, a shrinking one. there's also underground, music section, genre studies, the web. there's ALWAYS great new music.
Some people have said my music sounds like this. If you like it you'll probably like some of the original music I recently recorded. To hear it click on wisztrock. Thanks.
@Oreichalcos Jeez cut some slack, you know damn well he probably meant the manga comic when he said anime, loads of people generalise any Japanese art as anime
