I REALLY hope they don't use "Frozen" as the title name. What's wrong with calling it "The Snow Queen"? Is the original title just too "girly" in their eyes like "Rapunzel" was to them? Next thing you know it'll be "Sidetracked" for a Hansel and Gretal film. I know it shouldn't be such a big deal, but for a title to one of my favorite stories it just aggrevates me a bit.

This is VERY interesting to me. I fist saw the the original animated version of "The Snow Queen" on TV. At first, I thought it was a Disney film, but it turned out to be a Soviet Russian film. It was darker, a little edgier than the usual Disney treatment, and really left a lasting impression. If Disney could keep the dark edge of the story using modern animation, a great soundtrack, great voice acting - yes, I think this might be something to look forward to.

@bittercokejjang It's only a rough sketch, Alot of different designs for Jasmine from Aladdin for example didn't look too disney-esque either. But what I hope is that they don't make her old like the queen from SW, or Maleficent, or other known villainesses.

They need a better costume design for the Snow Queen, she looks too boring and not elegant or evil enough, she needs to wear a crown made of ice, make a crown that looks like snowflakes or something, Also her hairstyle should be one that goes up in the air, to make her appear more elegant at well as evil. Tragically, this film has been canceled. After The Princess and the Frog didn't perform as highly as they expected in the box office, Disney has shelved any further films with female leads - they apparently don't make enough money and attract enough male ticket-buyers.

@MooseTactic - Rapunzel ultimately turned into Tangled after a genre shift (it was originally inspired by a famous rococo painting called The Swing) and an increased emphasis on the male lead, Flynn Rider. Brave (originally titled The Bear and the Bow) is still in the works as far as I can tell.

Interesting, it was confirmed that Alan Menken and Glenn Slater had written several songs for, "The Snow Queen" musical and the script itself. Apparently, Disney bought the rights for it to turn it into an animated musical. But there was something that did not translate well during the planning stages. So now we know.

Oh and I would like to say that "Tangled" was amazing, love the soundtrack!

@Checkingokop The Snow Queen is usually depicted in fur in most artwork. I love the both designs in the concept art, but I would like a more elegant look for the final look. I especially love Gerda's design she looks dark with a touch of Disney.

Disney has stated that the " rumors" are not true... also I HIGHLY DOUBT that " Tangled" will be the last fairytale/princess movie because it did so well in the box offices this weekend and it exceeded their own expectations after the disaster with Princess and the Frog. I would think as a marketing and money coming in from the film that they would probably rethink of a " possiblity" in the new future.

i hope that this movie is as good as the seldom-remembered classic the black cauldron. im not saying it should be totally dark -that would ruin the story- but rather that its not some prissy dumbed-down kids movie. the snow queen turns children into mindless zombies for crying out loud! the first serious acting roll i ever had was kay in a stage production of the snow queen when i was 10, and i reprised the role 3 years later. this movie has been concidered for years, i cant wait for its release

If Disney didn't make anymore original movies, I personally wouldn't complain. I never thought that they had much of a knack for the original stuff that they did for remakes (with the exception to the very early stuff). Give Disney a great plotline, and they'll do a spectacular job with the presentation.

In any case, this the concept art for The Snow Queen looks really nice. I can only hope that Disney doesn't decide that tending to a more female audience is a waste of time.

This fairy tale is one of the most powerful and mature stories I've ever read. I remember that when everyone's favorite fairy tale was Shrek, I thought "This generation is a joke. No one understands beauty anymore."

Also the Willy Wonka movie (yeah I know that's not the actual title...so what) with Johnny Depp was a huge disappointment for me. I really only liked the ending, it showed what the one with Gene Wilder didn't show (what happened to the kids after) and some other stuff that wasn't shown in the first and better movie. I am still looking forward to seeing Corpse Bride. I love/like Cars.

I have some unfortunate news everyone. Disney's Rich Ross, the man who brought us Hannah Montana and High School Musical, had just ordered shutdown of IMD Studios (Robert Zemeckis's Studio), They apparently were not please with Zemeckis's previous films.

Rumors are now fluttering that Disney will not be making anymore original films, rather they will now make films that are attached to well-established franchises, such as Muppets. So say goodbye to any future creativity at Disney.

I just a quick brief summary, but Disney would have to change alot of things about the story. Honestly, I don't think it's going to made into a movie because there will be too much conterversay with the whole good vs bad related to Jesus and Devil references. Although, I would love to have this made into a movie... because it's pretty similiar to the Lion and the Witch in the Wardrobe and DISNEY made that movie. Who knows?? It would be diff and not targeted for little kids.

Same here! CGI is great for movies that NEED CGI, like the Pixar movies, but it's very impersonal for movies that would be better hand drawn (like the Princess movies). It's like baking cookies; you can use the store-bought cookie dough, but there's something better about cookies that are made completely from scratch.
