Cultural racism is an oxymoron as American culture and race are mutually exclusive. There was racism in the treaty, but it had nothing to do with what Diaz is discussing. The racism present in the treaty was the fact that all of Mexico wasn't annexed because the racist and anti-American John Calhoun didn't think indigenous peoples were worthy of citizenship.

The border between the United States and Mexico should be sealed and and a Korean style de-militarized zone between the countries. The Mexican War was started by James K. Polk's RACIST ass! He persuaded congress into mobilizing American troops for battle after Mexico refused to sell California & New Mexico. At the time, Mexico was newly-established, weaker, and less-populated than the USA. In other words, the US government took advantage/bullied Mexico into handing over it's Southwestern territory. After American forces capture Mexico's capital, they had no choice, but to sign the "Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo."
