This thread is filled with posts of pure envy. Of course the performance is not perfect and needs work, but it was very good. This is a VERY tough piece to accomplish.
Those who criticize lacking respect, just show that they don't respect music, and also very possibly their own frustration of not being able to play a tough piece like this.
I guess the reason why people point out the pedal is you recorded it in your room and you did not adjust the microphone. I see you good interpretation, but I also found that you need little bit more on pianos and fortes.
I think it was mostly good until the recapitulation, the heavy chordal section.
Because of the improper use of pedal - it sounds like she just pressed her foot down and sustained it over all 2 minutes - the notes just kept accumulating. It's a lot of excess baggage. It's like hearing the echo of 1:00 when she is playing at 1:30.
That's like listeningn to a thunderstorm or the fireworks. Music is not only big noises. Anyways, it's very promising.
I have heard that playing like a virtuoso when young is impressive, but the deal is to make the virtuosity expressive and original when you have grown up.
Good Girl.Well done!Don't pay attention to some comments as half of them do not have a clue what they are saying.Amazing technique.Totally agree with jermback. You are great, sweetheart!
Dcolwell - I can't decide if you're trying to be mean or just an effing moron. The player is a GIRL - not one of your bros. Learn some manners and for god's sake, don't have children.
i play piano also but mostly on violin, in fact im a music teacher...you have a great potential, but what you need is the touch of you inner soul to produce quality and emotion...
Ok Ji, first of all, Bravo! I would not have attempted this Etude at age 12. There are some huge stretches in the left hand (D# - G#). But this did not stop you! I saw and heard some "shortcuts" which I thought were clever. I guess they are excused because of physical limitations.I bet you will come back to this piece as your fingers grow longer and stronger. It's one of my favorite pieces also ;). What conservatory will you plan on attending?
u need to start playing on a grande. your ability has passed the limits of a stand-up. i think a lot has to do w/ the piano u r using and the subsequent recording. technique is almost there. time will refine it. get a grand!!! somehow!!!
i don't know if this is a quality problem but it sounds pretty mashed together. i believe your left hand is too loud compared to your right hand. but i think you play better than i play lol
you have ear problems, the recording quality is not very good true, but her technique is AMAZING, and she plays this piece VERY VERY VERY WELL on an upright piano. have you even tried playing this piece on an upright piano? I can't even fathom it, and definitely would not attempt the challenge. Grands are sooooo much easier to play on. Think about how it would sound on a grand.
You have an excellent repertoire and i've been looking at your videos since islamey, you look really deticated to music. I'm not professional, just an amateur(4fun player), but i truly believe you have a lot of talent. Good luck to whatever you are trying to acomplish!
Kim. I am not sure if you have plans to become a professional pianist or just for fun, all you have been playing is really in the wrong direction of appreciating and respecting classical music. It's definite that you should be going to seek formal music schooling or, seriously speaking, it shall be a waste of your time and talent.
I see you've been listening to Horowitz. So don't rush it. And try to imitate his wide crazy dynamic range...Practice your PIANISSMOS. My late Father always criticized me, "It's a piano-FORTE, PIANO-forte...stop banging." But you're better that I.
btw. if you would have carpet on the ground of your room, the sound of your piano would be very different... not that blurry. but since i love this song.... GREAT

Why are you so proud of your age? There are many pianists who are younger and can play better that you do.

Not very good - i thought i came out a bit too slurry. Maybe it's the quality of the video.
But it does take skill to learn the song - great work!
