  • Just look at at the happy smiling faces......us Notherners knew how to have a good time!!

  • Shame there were no reality talent shows back then she would have won it hands down!!

  • the overweight porker screwed up mrs m's performance

  • She didn't exist, of course. Mrs Mills was really Ronnie Barker in drag.

  • I saw Bernard Manning shite himself in a carpark in Darlington, 1977.

  • Where did you see Tony Melody - I didn't spot him...

  • And dear old Tony Melody there, if I am not mistaken. What a gentleman he was.

    Thanks for this.

    John

  • I Love Mrs. Mills, I wish I was around in her time. may she rest in peace.

  • he really was an orrible fat cunt....

  • i liked her but that fat basterd ruined it

  • @dracula0091 yeah agree, dinasour.

  • I remember as a child living next door to Gladys Mills' Mum and Dad. Mr Jordan was a very nice old gentleman - he only had one arm having lost the other on the railway in the early 1900's (so his story went)

  • ...with the great Bernard Manning...those were the days...fantastic working class entertaining

  • Great old music/just discovered Mrs Mills this year.

  • I got a Mrs Mills record from the op shop cause it had a funny front cover, decided to youtube her... funnier- but cool stuff.

  • mike woolett is far better but he does not want to be a star and he could easy

  • Bass player's in fine form ;)

  • Gladys George sings this in "The Roaring Twenties."

  • beautiful song....thankyou!

  • I remember in a couple of episodes of "The Goodies' that there were a couple of joking references made about 'Mrs Mills' made by Bill...and I had no idea who this 'Mrs Mills' was.

  • NIce music. Thanks for posting this.

  • ahh yes the good old sing along with mrs mills brilliant

  • Love it!

  • Gladys Mills was spotted at a Golf Club dance by a talent scout. She shot to fame on her lovely bubbly personality, fantastic smile, and ability to play "pub style" piano very, very accurately. She had an excellent left hand, and in this particular genre was a good musician. Remember her very well.

  • The great Bernard Manning and the marvellous Glad mills brilliant,we are missing so much now with all this correctness xxx

  • Hear hear!! Totally agree. Those who think Bernard was really a racist have no notion of what comedy is all about. Narrow minded bigots themselves. I've seen black people in Manning's club laugh louder than anyone.

  • And that makes it OK then I suppose?

    Idiot.

  • I think you'll find it is you who is the idiot .. a somewhat rude, ignorant, humourless idiot at that. Comedy is just that .. comedy .. it isn't about being politically correct, decent, or straightlaced. It's like any other form of entertaiment in that if you don't like it and aren't grown up enough to see the funny side of it, DON'T FUCKING WATCH IT! Stick to the re-runs of Dad's Army - or is that an insult to the memory of the Home Guard in your tiny narrow mind?

  • fab

  • she was ace thank you for showing this thank you

  • Who became the First Lady of Clubland after Mrs Mills carked it?

  • Mrs Manning the loveable bigot comedian

  • Mrs Mills was COOL.

  • Brilliant.

  • This is brilliant. I've waited so long to see Glad on YouTube (for the person who asked, no there wasn't really any domestic video recording in 73, but this was repeated on TV a few years ago).

Glad was always on the telly when I was a kid in the 70s and I loved her popping up. I'm sure her 'This is Your Life' was a special Xmas edition and was longer than usual. A lasting memory of that was the DJ Pete Murray coming on with an anecdote about her bloomers and presenting her with a pair.

  • what a party girl she was :)

  • Simply fantastic. More please - More please. Our Glad was simply the greatest ever

  • Marvellous stuff. Thanks for posting. Where did you get this from Pipes as a matter of interest? Were video recorders going in '73?

  • Brilliant! They don't make them like they used to. 5*

  • Five from me wonderfull memories do you have more
