@theamazingtoot Thats a bit of a generalization to say claim all American artists are fakers. Sure theres quite a big of fakers in the mainsteam like gaga and katy perry but the less popular American artists are some of the best in the world. Like the Dodos, they are an US folk/indie band, and the blow UK mumford and sons out of the water by a longggg shot.

@MashMashMusic The american music industry destroys artists. They always start out independant musical geniuses, like Kanye West, he was a good rapper, then the record lable and the producers edit and fake everything with autotune and synths and eventually the artist is just a frontman doing whatever the industry chooses. Lady gaga and katy perry AT A TIME, were very skilled artists, but everything you hear on the radio from them is record lable "whats popular" garbage. Marina hasnt sold out yet

The music industry everywhere does that. I believe that the examples Gaga and Katy Perry are bad examples for your theory because both of them have become so fast successful that they managed to keep creative control in their own hands. What is quite important.

I agree that you have countless singers who are streamlined by the music industry beyond recognition and therefore disappear just as fast as they emerged. I produce music myself, and autotune is a quite useful tool BTW.
