rocked/blued - heel clicked (does he still heel click) - with simo when he was in his early teens. DAMN the man plays (with our musical souls). Got his 1st stuff on disc and Music on the Mountain. Love the heel clicking.
Saw these dudes last summer at Robert's. It was an experience I won't forget. Guthrie Trapp was playing right across the street. Check out Trapp playing ghostriders with Don Kelley - equally awesome, just a different style.
Simo kicks the ass of anybody in the country mainstream right now. Name one Nashville puppet in the top ten who can deliver this level of talent and showmanship.
When Taylor Swift decides to share the stage with this guy, we will all know who the real "entertainer of the year" should be!!
well jd definitely kicks ass i have nothin negative but i mean brent mason down there in nashville records for damn new every country artist and plays live for alot of them in nashville and he's really rollin in the dough and he plays litterally every kinda music and he's all over youtube, but i'm not sayin jd isn't real sweet cause he is so don't take that the wrong way
The comment that "thestratlars" left pisses me off..I have played guitar since grade school and I'm now 30..And I could not "far surpass this a month" as you say..There is a reason this kid is on stage in Nashville and your NOT.Post your video or shut your ass." I have the musical training and chops" very funny...your a doodle.
Hmmm Its refreshing to hear something new that isnt complete shit. He dosnt do anything new, or anything special, or anything revolutionairy, he just put on a damn good performance, and hess got good Phrasing. But anyone who knows their roots, and puts time into their playing can play something as good as this easily in 4 or 5 years.
Ive seen JD 10 times or so...He plays totally different every night. As any musician knows ..some nights aint as good as others. I have to agree that his chops for this performance may not be anything special but the Kid can fuckin play. I've heard him do it a lot better In fact check out my vid of JD doin ghostriders
What is so special? This is nothing that I haven't hear before or played myself when I was 23. Even the fast country soloing he does is accomplished for his age but nothing really remarkable. I'm sorry, I just ask more from guitar playing then what I have heard here.
I get tired of this "show your video" bullshit. There is nothing this kid (Simo) does that is remarkable, I'm sorry, if I want to hear this style I will put on Hyland, Gill, Lee, Paisley and a host of others that have far more to offer in the originality department than the fast noodling Simo. I don't play this style, but I have the musical training and chops to figure out exactly what he does and would far surpass him in about a month. Thanks anyway.
i saw JD at that same bar the don kelly bamd is one of the most awsome band every only one thing there way betere in person the are great the bass player was the bass player for johnny cash
i was lucky enough to catch this group doing their thing at roberts last friday night (feb 27 09) and boy was i ever glad. this band rocked the house all night long.
I've heard of JD Simo before, his Burnin Live CD impressed me, but this cements him in my books as a top shelf player. I've been around the block with guitar and pretty much seen and heard most of what is out there from Hendrix to Segovia and everything in between and been playing 35 years myself so I'm no star struck newcomer. Tasteful choice of notes, a quality so hard to find nowdays & fantastic tone. A small Fender amp and a Tele, what a combo and he milks them for all they are worth.
Anybody watching this clip right now might as well throw their Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw CD's in the garbage!
J.D. Simo IS the future of country music if there's any justice left in Nashville. I was a regular at Simo's Phoenix gigs seven years ago and this guy will blow you out of your chair everytime! Awesome stage presense and one of the hottest guitar players you will ever see...
