Most large colleges have their own police force since their campus is a small community into itself so they don't burden the local city department with what goes on on campus. First off you are pretty, consider a career of modeling; because litigation is not your strong suit. There is something called Escalation of Force, and this is a textbook example of what to do. He didn't respond to basic orders, being gently escorted outside, or strong arming, what would you have the next step be if the officers don't have OC spray? He then escalated the situation by fighting with the officers. He then continued to fight and was advised he would be tazed if he continued to resist. Which he did. Most large colleges have their own police force since their campus is a small community into itself so they don't burden the local city department with what goes on on campus. And it wasn't his questions, it was his behavior added to the use of a vulgar term that got him ejected from the event. The moderators didn't want him there anymore, that's their RIGHT.

First off you are pretty, consider a career of modeling; because litigation is not your strong suit. There is something called Escalation of Force, and this is a textbook example of what to do. He didn't respond to basic orders, being gently escorted outside, or strong arming, what would you have the next step be if the officers don't have OC spray? What are the police suppose to do? He was told to stop talking in the mic--but he would not stop talking. He was told to leave because he was interfering with the meeting--but he would not leave. At some point you have to get physical with him otherwise the meeting could not continue.

@liamcollins1997 Well yeah dude, all you bleeding heart liberals cried out when the rear naked choke was the standard method for subduing a non-responsive perp, then came the bean bag shotgun round, and now tasers and OC spray. Hand to hand combatives takes a lot of time and money to train officers. Time and money that 99% of departments don't have. Tasers are easier and more cost effective. If all you can do is bitch then shut up or put up a better solution that keeps officers and perps safe.

The cops took action because he was going somewhere asking questions, that's important or else we have nothing, no opinion, no power, no nothing. Why so much secrets among politicians all over the world i ask myself ?? JFK himself said there shouldn't exist such thing as secresy in a free and open society, wich i seriously doubt we are realy on one right now.

@mikeelman I sincerely doubt his questions had any merit. But any if they did, that is irrelevant. If the folks managing the meeting wanted him to stop, then that's enough reason for him to stop. The 1st amendment does not allow one to say anything he wants on somebody else's property. And the folks who were managing this meeting were acting as the stewards of the auditorium. They had every right to kick him out.

@educheny I'm sick of seeing these comments that it was "private property". It is not! UF is a PUBLIC university, owned by the taxpayers of Florida and Kerry is a public servant! No question regarding his performance as such can be considered off-limits! That idea is only consistent with dictatorship and is absolutely against the entire basis & purpose of our Constitution! We also do not owe them a deferential attitude when asking; it's called freedom of expression! Don't be a slave!

You're right about the questions themselves being irrelevant to the principle, but POF, there's abundant information that indicates they did and do have merit. The book he was holding ("Armed Madhouse" by Greg Pallast of the BBC) is only ONE source covering some of the basis for this(organized vote-fraud & collusion between "elites" at the highest levels that thwarts the democratic process) in quite a convincing & well documented manner. This kid was asking the questions that we all should!

@jfarrellfinch The University of Florida is a public university but it is NOT a public forum. Thus, the 1st amendment does not apply. This is perfectly understandable considering a university's function. Disruptive behavior can impair students ability to learn and profit from their university experience. And university administrators have been given the authority by the state to manage the school and its property.

This was a forum where the public was invited to participate with questions, and since the question posed within the framework of the function's procedure, posed no "clear & present danger" to safety & well being of anyone present,( except for Kerry's reputation; see the defining 1919 Supreme court ruling) There is no legal basis for interference

@jfarrellfinch A "public forum" is a legal term. I have no reason to believe that this auditorium was designated a "public forum" during this event. It's possible that it was designated a "limited public forum", in which case there would be restrictions on the 1st amendment. But even if it was designated a full-fledged "public forum", precedence dictates that administrators still have the right to restrict the "time, place, and manner" of speech (Grayned v. Rockford 1972).

@educheny "Designated public forums"?! This sounds like the institutionalized violations of Constitutional rights like those found in the criminal & cynically named "USA Patriot Act". So now we have "freedom of speech" but only when confined to previously designated "free speech zones"? What outrageous bullshit! The Constitution is all about limiting on the power of government, to impose corrupt practices & oppression on the people. Questioning of elected leaders is fundamental to that purpose.

And all the obviously exaggerated claims of prior conduct notwithstanding, he was recognized and began question Kerry on his conduct as a public servant. His "tone" presents no danger & limitations on intellectual content may not be Constitutionally imposed. Too bad for the would-be "rulers".
