  • Great review. Gradius may be an oldie but it's a goodie

  • will you review gradius 3 pleeeeeeaaaaaaaseeeee? :)

  • You need more speed....

  • The Vic Viper! fuck yeah! love the gradius series, was one of my first shoot em ups that got me hooked on the genre.

  • I have Gradius 3 for my snes me and my friend back in middle school early high school we used to play it a lot we got really far into it

  • Nice review, gradius is great especially the nes version and is the easier game to beat compared to the arcade and TG16 ports.

Heres a tip, increasing youre speed by 1 or 2 asap it helps dodging plus allows you to quickly optain every pick up. The key to beating it is to get fully powered up asap and not die once, which is made easier by using the shield and having enough items in reserve so you can immeadiatly replace it when you take to many hits

  • @TrevHead10 Thanks for the tip, I will have to use that, my biggest problem is when you get to those 2 hills, and they are shooting rocks up at ya, but I found a way to get around that, just hide up in the left, or right top corner.

  • @ARProductions2010 Thats the easiest way, it helps if you have an option or 2, theres another trick with the laser which is to position yourself to the left and shoot the rocks as they come out of the valcano

The second satage is quite easy and full of power ups, the 3rd stage however has those crazy hard moah heads, it helps to destroy them, you might want to use save states to work out the best route. btw there are warps in the nes version so you can miss levels

  • And the TG16 isn't 16-bit, it's 8 but it's GPU is 16-bit. ;)

  • @SNESIvan Once again, you need to tell the sites that have info about the console/game that, not me.

  • Great review! But it is pronounced Zed X Spectrum.

  • @SNESIvan Well you better go tell all the websites that, because it has labeled as ZX Spectrum. Now the Z might stand for Zed, but I am gonna call it whatever it is called when I do research on the game.

  • @ARProductions2010 Oh ok, but it is written as ZX, but is pronounced Zed X. Also, great review? Planning on doing Parodius sometime? :)

  • @SNESIvan Yeah, I just call it whatever I have heard it called. Its like Ryu from Street Fighter, I heard it as Rye U, but its Ree-U, etc, just stupid shit lol.

As for Parodius, probably not this year, maybe next year, I got a ton of reviews, I am gonna release in the next few weeks. I

  • @SNESIvan Woah there buddy. Some people just pronounce "Z" as Zed. You can't make other people say it like that just because you do. Also yes, the TG16 IS a 16 bit console.

  • @XBladenoJutsu Oh, actually i read it was prononced as Zed. And nope, the TG16's cpu is an 8-bit HuC6280A and the GPU was a dual-processor setup, with the HuC6260 VCE and the HuC6270A VDC. So just the graphics were 16-bit.

  • @SNESIvan Just because the HUC6280 is 8-bit doesn't make it an 8-bit console. The console's overall limitations see to that. The HUC6280 does many things at once, not only handling the CPU, but also has 6 channel PSG among other things. And dude, the Z in ZX may have been pronounced "Zed", but again, it doesn't mean you have to call it like that. Some people pronounce it as "Z" and some pronounce ZX as "Zex".

  • @XBladenoJutsu Oh ok, thanks! :)

  • Good review, but yeah, the GB version really isn't a port, it's a new game partially inspired by the original. I'd say that's something different from ports, like most of those other versions are.

  • @SNESIvan Its just differences between american and british english

    Brits say zed, US zee

  • cool review

  • i noticed that the music in the Turbographx-16 version of the game was slowed down. it sounded like the PAL version of the NES game. one thing about the Turbographx is that it's the 1st 16-bit console. well, sort of. instead of running on a 16-bit engine the TG-16 runs on 2 8-bit engines.

  • @TwiliLink95The Turbografx has an 8bit main processor and a dedicated 16bit grafx processor.

  • The MSX series is quite amazing! I got it complete including the extra versions like Parodius and Salamander / Life Force. Love the series. Thanks for this review!

  • @markvergeer Yeah I have played the MSX version a long time ago. I should of thrown that in the review, but maybe I will do a Let's Play or something on it.

  • Do a review on Abaddox, man.

  • @DeadlyDreamerX I plan to, but not this season.

  • O_O @ the bloopers.

  • @ATiRAGEPRO What can I say....sometimes bloopers need to happen

  • love the bloopers dude.

  • LMAO.....funny bloopers. Nice review. There are certainly a lot of similar games to Gradius on the SNES. There are a ton of these plane shooting games.

I usually just play them a few times.....and move on to something else.

  • Gradius is the shit !

  • Good review man!

But I have to say, you sound ALOT older than 23 ... even 43! Hack, hack, cough, cough! =P

  • Aww yeah another Heavy Metal Gamer review rock on man \m/
