Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! Their name kept slipping from my memory, but the music remained. So sad we know names like Mark Knopfler or Moody Blues, but not these. (And how about the gorgeous album graphics, picture and writing!) Great work.
He used one of the group’s names with his first name to create his DJ Name “Graham Sebastian”. Sadly he was killed in a car accident in 1999. After a few beers, I sometimes allow myself the self indulgent pleasure of listening to this album with headphones on and the lights turned off. It’s how I remember a great brother and “dare I say it” even greater times.
This song means so much to me. In the 70's my brother was a DJ at the local Skateway at Upper Mount Gravatt (Brisbane). As the doors were opened, the patrons came in and hired their skates, started taking off their shoes and getting ready for the session, my brother would play this track. At a certain point of the track he would get on the mike and invite the scaters to get on to the rink and the session would begin as he faded out this track and brought in the first of the current pop songs.
Great stuff.....I have long admired Mario's excellent approach to the melody line. Saw the band support Carlos Santana at Sydney's Hordern Pavillion (eons ago) & they were magnificent.
Saw Sebastian Hardie open for "Slade" (it think) @ the Hordern Pavilion around '73 or 74. They did a version of some song from Carmen or other opera which blew the house away crowd roared huge group of us didnt want the main act to come on. thx for the memories n tfp
God I used to have this album and used to go and see them all the time when I was 14/15 used to be Jon English's backing band .. where this record went to I have no idea but I want it back..
Surely one of the greatest bands to come from Australia! Mario Millo has got to be one of the most under-rated guitarists around. He out-Akkers Jan any day of the week! Windchase were also fantastic.
Awesome, I have had this song in my head for over 20 years and have whistled it to my son whilst getting him to sleep. He is 22 months and loves Moody Blues and Sebastian Hardy although he has never HEARD my sister's RECORD hehehe.... Glad I found it, gonna go look at Oop Oop A Doo (Aztecs) now..... Cheers to ALL the 45 to 55 year olds, our pasts ROCK!
Saw this band at a pub in Canberra in the mid seventies one rainy afternoon. They did all the Four Moments album and a fantastic version of Tubular Bells. They were a great live band.
I first discovered Sebastian Hardie about a year ago on lastfm - hearing the tracks Windchase and Openings was enough to make me get hold of both their albums as soon as I could. Great, great music!
saw them in Melbourne a couple of years ago, supporting Yes with Rick Wakeman. Extraordinary arrogance from the English guests - their Roadie pulled the plug during Rosanna, believing SH had gone overtime by a few minutes, leaving the audience stunned and ready to boo the main act.
Wow! i did not think that stuff happened anymore in this day and age of enlightened humans working in the arts...stunned to read your comment. well..keep an eye out for there is a possible tour coming up late 2009, to show off their new album and the older material...could be a tour with Little Feat in Aussie.
kama, bad interference in steve Howe;s guitar, Roadie on stage mid song and couldn;t fix. we heckled the pr#ck. Got home, googled SH, emailed to get it out of my system. Next day got a lengthy nice reply from Mario! Still can;t believe it. After show Yes told them they were unaware of the unplugging. Time started at lights down not start of song as they thought. Disagreement on length of set. Mario could have done acoustic of "six ribbons" and brought Jon English up from the audience to sing.
I been searching for this for ages. I managed to remember his name but not the band. I saw them as a support act for Santana in Sydney in the late 70's. I always liked that thing he does with the volume knob on the guitar
Fabulous - this brings back so many memories when I was a teenager watching Countdown! Do you also have the video for "Glad To Be Alive" by Windchase? I loved that song & cannot find it anywhere on line - Mario has to be one of the greatest guitarists in the country!
One of the finest guitar players ever, why he never became household name I'll never know. Loved the album - thanks for posting this vid - never seen it before.
Thank you - I have known Mario and the band for many years and it is my pleasure to post the vid - Mario remained very active in the music industry and Sebastian hardie have just completed a new CD Regards David
@joeninetyjoe mario might not be a household name ,but heis highly by his peers and i think that would be more important to him,the man is a true genius.

Yeah ! Great band !
I also saw them open for Focus in Sydney !
I guess they were quite similar in style.
Mario Milo is a great guitarist who has done quite a bit of film and TV soundtrack work since these days.

Saw em play in 1975 at Wilson Hall Melb Uni. and they were excellent. This nicely played piece calls out to be extended. Similar genre to Focus.

Yeah, very similar to jan Akkerman's style, an obvious influence! I saw 'em open for Focus in 1976 (I think!)

Thanks for this. Peter Plavsic was an old mate from Uni and I haven't seen him for 40 years.
Great memory!
