I think They'd be happy if you were able to make it alittle bit more personal, I know if I was a singer or in a band I'd/We'd preform a song having my/our different meaning(s) for the song but if one of my/our fans come up to me/us and said that they took the song this way and it meant alot to them and the whole deal I'd be greatful because they made the song personal for them. Ok so people say this song is about god, but when I listen to it, it reminds me of a soldier across seas wanting to go home to his family because he had enough of seeing the same people everyday of his life and the place where he belongs is with his family back in his own country! Just my opinion by the way! Also everyday I spend away from my family I listen to this song it really helps me out!
