  • how is it when sat down compared to a normal body? thanks

  • It may be a good guitar sound-wise but it looks amputated, castrated, diminished :(

  • YAK YAK - NO, DON'T PLAY IT, JUST TALK

  • Steinbergar vs Hohner Headless Series? Any input will be MUCH APPRECIATED. THX.

  • whats the neck like?

Does the trem feel stiff to use?

  • can you do drop D and drop Cwith the steinberger double ended strings?

  • Comment removed

  • Steinberger was David Gilmour's main guitar during the Pink Floyd: A Momentary Lapse of Reason album

  • Eddie Van Halen used a Steinberger on the 5150 album.

  • @ThisCakeIsDelicious if you want to drop d at the flip of a switch, youre going for the bass. if you want to transpose tunings, youre talking about the transtrem. 2 COMPLETELY different intruments

  • it kinda looks like a tissue box lol

  • lol you dont know how to play guitar ! and strats have no twang, those are teles. strats have jangle.

  • No you can't drop D at the flip of a switch on the Steinberger Spirit. I think that's the transtrem model.

  • @ZUrlocker no, its on the spirit, but the bass.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes. Though I removed it. You can use the bridge in a floating manner and it has a simple lock to hold it in place.

  • does it have a trem bar?

  • These Steibnerger Spirits are awesome, no matter what prejudices one may have about relatively cheap korean instruments. I had an XT25 bass and an XZ2 bass, which I had to sell on a time of need. I regret selling both of them, and fortunately I was able to find an XT2 with Db tuner on amazon, but can´t find an XZ, which I REALLY regret. Of course I would love an original Steinberger, but if one isn´t able to get one, these ones are great.

  • Ah ! a fine example of instrument makature! I have heard many a tale with concern to this mythical instrument. Many say it can be played while spreading marmite and underwater.... Cath nee confermth thee towe mea?

  • The standard EMG designed pickups are not particularly high output. But you can swap them out or use a tube screamer to boost the sound. It's a pretty neutral sound out of the box. Different from Strat or Les Paul.

  • Yes, it has normal strap hooks at each end of the body. It's very well balanced.

  • can you play this instrument standing up? i dont see where the straps hook to it

  • This is a really good demo and I love Steinberger guitars.

  • Excellent review of an intriguing guitar that certainly divides opinion :)

  • damn thats a nice looking guitar

  • Needs moe cowbell

  • did you learn that lick 5 seconds before playing it? hahaha

  • I played one of these and would like to add one to my road arsenal,...but I find them way too overpriced. Yes they stay in tune but I found it was difficult keeping the settings on my pedalboards to get the right sound. Certainly not going to change the load out I have for 6 or 7 guitars to suit one. If cheaper would probably be an excellent practice guitar.

  • @doable1 $400 is "way too overpriced"?

  • Yes, its a good guitar. Stays in tune. Easy to travel with. Tone is different from your average strat or gibson, but not necessarily better. Pickups are a bit weak.

  • is this guitar worth buying? i bought an ibanez when i started playing for around 400 bucks and it definitely wasnt anything special. i just wanna know if its a good buy or should i just save for something else?

  • do u know a headless guitar that is as portable as urs but with a wider neck? or, perhaps not a wider neck but 1 where all but middle two strings fan out & get wider & wider apart towards the bridge? 2 achieve this w/out wider neck, maybe the nut string slots woul need 2b angled slightly so when strings are set in place, they would angle out toward bottom(again, middle 2 strings would be straight only.)

  • What do you prefer, headless or regular guitars? i was looking into getting a headless one, but i'm not sure what kind to get if its even worth getting one

great soloing btw, they were short and right to the point lol i wish i could write a solo >_< over a year and a half of guitar and still i can't do anything lol

  • I will buy this guitar

  • does anyone know how to adjust the master knob on the bottom of this guitar? all these websites that explain the r-trem are really confusing!!!!

  • You looks a bit, like Seth MacFarlane.

  • Why a headless guitar?

  • Great review ~ Thank you.

  • Could you drop tune this to A# or to B? Or is that not possible with this bridge tuning system?

  • @Samus5164 The Steinberger ST-2FPA is MUCH better equipped for that tuning thanks to its baritone scale.

That thing just loves low B tuning. The spirits are fine, but have a shorter neck and the pickups are a bit naff.

  • @Samus5164 Nah, this steinberger has an R-trem, not the transposing Trans-trem. This bridge system only allows you to use the tremolo as either fixed bridge or fully floating.

  • @mlbrttt What's the difference, and why does that keep it from being drop-tuned?

  • @Samus5164 @Samus5164 The difference is that the r-trem is just an ordinary whammy bar, you can only do vibratos. it doesn't have the ability to change he tuning. The tremolo you're talking about is the trans-trem, and this has a special feature which allows it to change the tuning by moving it down in 'notches', as well as use it as a whammy bar.

  • search for 'steinberger the guitar show' on youtube and go to part 3. this explains it really well

  • Isn't it annoying to play seated with it having no body?

  • @JamesGod08 It has a built in leg support, so it works great. Very comfortable and well designed.

  • @JamesGod08 not really im getting that guitar cause it looks unique

  • @JamesGod08

I used to have a Hohner G2 (same shape as the Steinberger Spirit) - there's a 'support leg', see at 2:30 in the video. Works great, but still the guitar is pretty small so you tend to bend your back forward pretty much. Not the most healthy or visually appealing posture. But these guitars work great, outstanding. Clear sound, superb vibrato, supercomfortable handling (small & short (no more running into bass's neck!), lightweight, indestructible, superfast string change and tuning).

  • @romaneberle Thanks for this I thought as much.

  • that thing creeps me out

  • This guitar and a battery-powered mini-amp is just exellent for travel: hiking, picknics, hotel rooms, camping, cruises, etc. I keep an extra one and a Roland Micro Cube in my car: I am ready to jam anywhere I go!

  • Actually, these are still manufactured at the Gibson factory in South Korea.

I have a Synapse SS-2f and I'm toying with the idea of getting another Steinberger, maybe a Spirit GT or the trans-trem Synapse.

  • @329ljm10 There are fine tuners are at the bridge. Since it uses double-ended strings, the strings don't need to be streched a lot. And it just doesn't get out of tune.

  • @SteelSkin667

sweet! I saw one of these at my guitar store downtown, and It was White with black hardware and a floyd rose, with steinberger written on the side!

  • Very nice video i ;m going to buy that guitar,i like the design and the sound.

    thanks for posting.

  • i'm from Uruguay and i'm building something a little bit like that on my own... i'll upload a video whien i'm done... maybe you want to see it?

  • they still sell the Spirit. it retails for around 400, and you can get them on zzounds and such.

  • My wife thinks those are unbelieveably ugly. I think they look cool!

  • she's WRONG!

  • this guitar seems so unnormally small to me... O.o

  • yeah it does, but i still want one
