  • I was there before they tidied up the interior; my guide had been before and knew what he was talking about. Ironic that back in the 1850s the British fleet was anchored in the same harbour seen at the end of the video and a few minutes up the road is where the Charge of the Light Brigade took place. I hope that more visitors go to the Crimea/Krim and see this and other attractions. Sevastopol and Yalta are both close by.

  • i have not seen a modern military base in the USA that is a museum . i have seen bases that are no longer in use and are just left pretty much as they were . i would be there for a private company to deliver something on a truck as some private companies might rent out a very small section of one base . some of them were very large.

  • could you get some english speaking person to help you with this video and have them explain the different objects as the movie goes along

  • @bill739 he is english huh

  • Oh for a world without weapons or soldiers. Such a complete waste of money and life.

  • Doctor evils old lair .....Where's the friggin "Lazers" ?

  • USSR was a great country most of my friends are communist as well as i.

  • Communists think they are so cool, just because everything is secret there

  • @Andersng1 so USA military bases make tourist excursions?

  • @Drezdenn how the hell should i know

  • Dude you're brave. There could've been a Commie in there ready to shoot you.

  • this reminds me 007 goldeneye game for n64

  • if that was what they had 20 years ago imagine of what are they capable now

    ftw russia

  • Don't think for a second that those expensive yachts have nothing to do with the bunker. I think that almost all of the post USSR rich guy has something to do with the army or the KGB.

  • sub base MW2

  • @thorbpdk STFU about MW2 you litte kids need a life.

  • nice video...interesting!

  • Man i love this sort of stuff, i dont know why secret and lost in a way, in a way its like opening a tomb. however this feels to well preserved :)

  • A bunker buster + a tactical nuclear warhead will do the trick ;)

  • @Hamodyxxx0 dream on...

  • Too Jmorello if your serious you need to talk to someone because you don't live in a house of lead.

  • Nice video!

I visited this place in Ukraine too.

I did not find this place in a tour guide but friends from Ukraine showed me.

It is interesting because of History. In earlier time it was not possible.

  • Russia Nr.1 FACK YANKI

  • @MsGoccia U.S #1 ,ALWAYS...

  • Fack off America!

  • @Eddi160185 FUCK YOU DUMB SHIT...

  • I'm just glad people are walking into bunkers to see what the past was like, not walking out of bunkers to see what the future could have been like...

  • parabéns bom video !!!!!!!!!!

  • Again great video! Ill get over there sometime :)

  • Even in a secret underground tunnel in the middle of the Crimea, you'll find a Brit.

  • i just got dejavu because i had a dream about this place years ago. please contact me.

  • Very nice telelens on that camera,,!! Thanks for sharing. It is always interesting to see (former) secret bases and stuff. And it is good to know that some russians are doing well...all those expensive boats.

  • That marina on the end was built by Vadim Klimenko, the sub base was completely abandoned for about 5 years, there wasn't anything left inside. 2 floors of the base are flooded.

  • HMMM...sub got displaced by bigwig CP elites parking their pleasure craft and where do the ladies stay who venture forth on these voyages of fun and frolick?

  • ooo

  • lol yacht base at end !

    good recycling

  • @TONANS86 Translated:

So also we want the world!

    People always remain people.

Absolutely other question - the governments of the states (Ukraine, Russia and the USA). Politicians do not ask our opinion interfering in the another's states. It is sad.

  • @jmb765 - Translated: Why you think, we want to destroy your existence? You have been programmed with an idea, that all of us ill-wishers. You are mistaken. Your people should become angry about the government of the USA. We simply want the world.

  • @chopped50ford - Wrong. I said " Why do you think we want to destroy your existence? You have been programmed with the idea that we are all ill-wishers. You are mistaken. Your people should be angry at the U.S. government. We just want peace. "

  • @EvilALEXRus

Russia and Ukraine one Nation, and America is our "stravlivajut?" чto eto?

  • haha this is nothing m8s in croatia we went in old italian bunkers from1934 and they are abandomed!a bunc of 13 year olds

  • looks a lot like one of hitlers bunkers we visited in france

  • Real James Bond stuff. Fascinating.

  • 2:02 oh snap, they had daleks.

  • are those minds?

  • mines?

  • lol..............yeah thats what i meant.

  • hello, this is a soviet military base, 4 million cubic meters of rock taken out of the mountain. a sub can enter completely underwater. It was never used, 2 subs were built that were never used. by the time they had finished ICBMs were the main weapon for launching nukes on the US not the 2 sub they built.

  • whay Sovet?.video not old.maybe Russia

  • It's Ukraine!!!

  • its soviet, and u are

  • I love bunkers and the like - they're like a window into the past and show how dangerous the past times were - a remainder not to repeat the same mistakes.

The cold war especially was fascinating - the purpose of this base: to take a nuclear hit or two and let the submarines survive long enough to go out and deliver the counter-strike - mutual assured destruction. :)

  • @Suyamu

Yeah, now I got it - survival of submarines and then counterstrike...

    Lol, ty.

And yea, it's true: "a remainder not to repeat the same mistakes."

  • @StaroChichanin

Russian subs in the old days (especially typhoons) were so noisy that they were easily found by US navy sosus nets, places like this were nessecity. By the end of the cold war a majority of russian boomers spent long durations sitting idle in the north pole waiting for orders

  • @Suyamu Yes, I agree with you, let not repeat the same mistake, however, in ww3 which is coming up in 2 to 3 years, a Russian submarine fires a nuclear war head on New York, USA, killing millions of Americans. I know this because I am 450 miles away from blast zone. I have been instructed by the Holy spirit to put away hundreds of pounds of food and water. The air and water will be contaminated for several years in which millions of people, including Russians will die from radiation fallout.

  • @jmorello123 If your serious you really need to talk to someone about that. Cause that isnt healthy. Not to mention you don't live in a lead house.

  • @Motorhead1a U are right, I do not live in a lead house, however, I am at 1200 feet above sea level and all I need to do is tape up my doors when the war head hits New York, USA. Radiation Fallout is a ground creeper and high elevation about sea level will give me a fighting chance. From what I understand, I need to be taped in my house for over two years before to can walk outside again. I am sure there will be thousands of dead people when I do. Lovely I know. : )

  • @Suyamu

    mutual assured destruction (MAD)

  • its right out of a james bond movie!!! =)

  • thats why imma have a headstart on building a bomb shelter! its no use but ill still do it!! XD

  • my father was 30 years ago there-as a soldier. he saw this video and had just the tears in hes eyes....than you!

  • There are still bunkers stocked with Soviet munitions. And there is at least one if not more sunken submarines along this coast line. All the important stuff removed first. But still, awesome if you're a diver.

  • If you goto Paldiski in Estonia there was once also a secret Soviet submarine base. Its astonishing how much of a mess of the area they made. It took help from the US Naval Engineers to come in and clean it up.

But none the less, still cool to walk around. Most of the old stuff is gone. But there are still many great places one still can goto. Unfortunately the best places now are the ones underwater.

  • can this base withstand a nuclear attack ?

  • maybe.

  • It was intended to withstand the direct nuclear bomb hit (of that time, sure). It lies 126 meters deep underground the hard rocks of the mountain, or, rather, a high hill. The outer steel doors used to be about half-meter thick, 6 tons by weight. There are lots of inner doors also, dividing this into many isolated rooms. I was there in 2002, when there was not a museum but the abandoned place visited by local boys and some daring tourists.

  • it's like Muskö in Sweden

  • wat subs used to live in the cliffs???? r u sure?? weres their noo base??

  • first English

    and two

    Typhoon nuclear missile submarines

  • This is like norad in America.

  • God Bless America, all NATO countries, all of Europe and Russia

  • i think the russian navy it s still fit :)

  • we dont need ships like USA has. we loved by midle east:) unlike USA. lol. and we have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better missile tecnology then US. the navy was always 2-nd after strategik missiles. and as you can see we have better systems then US, NATO in it. so actualy i must say that it dosent matter if we have few ships we can still kick ass from were we are right now lol.

  • kerier1911 - ha ha you're funny. I've been on a Russian ship when it was in a foreign port on display with many others during Festival of the Seas in Portsmouth, UK a couple of years back. IT was like being on a western ship 30 years ago. It had the crappy Kamov helicopter on it too and that was falling apart at the seams... Russian navy is a joke! Missiles better than US/NATO? Ha ha ha ha !

  • I concur US and British Technology is much better

  • My boy there are 10 subs(from wiki) in service now

reason being they are way to much fucking money and the Russians(As am i, a proud part russian)don't have enough nukes

  • Russia has the largest nuclear stockpile in the world 0.o

  • Hahaha, yeah, the USSR fell apart because it "mastered missile technology." It has the most nuclear warheads, and it fell apart due to a completely ruined economy.

  • yeah it had the the most nuclear warheads and , now its back in the game, also the USSR is gone long gone

  • Hah idiot :P. U know russia got missles that got outsmarting effect to us missle shield? So take it easy.

  • I'll Start With Thanking You For sharing This Video

I think This is The Place Where The Largest ballistic missile submarine Was Developed The Typhoon Class In The 80s It started As a Project Undre Russian Akula Class

    Respect To The Soviet Navy

  • aliqatar - The Typhoon was so big because Russia cannot and have never been able to make anything compact... Bigger ship = bigger easier target!

  • golfs, foxtrotts, echos, novembers, hotels....... this place is a very important historical jewel.

  • god bless RUSSIA

  • in a strange fucked up kind of way all this was neccasery! i truly beleive ww3 would of happened if it wasn't for mutually assured destruction!

  • very cool

  • Yes It does

  • If it was built underground, I'm guessing it was built to withstand nuclear strike & still launch subs?

  • if ca see it it's not more a secret

  • Fascinating drivel-free little insight into recent history. Many thanks for posting it

  • Yes! That's some really juicy stuff there !

  • i would like this as my lair, something like on 007 "dr no"

  • you have just given me a great idea... hmm yes

  • I cant see why western intel would've got a hrad on from that during the cold war..A tunnel and a small railway!

  • Yeah well there is nothing you cannot imagine about military bases. The secret is where some of them are and what do they do.

  • Razvalili stranu a teper turistov vodyat. A burjui hodyat i smeyutsya teper. Vse pidarasy: nachinayu s Hrusheva zakanchivaya Kuchmoi. Hotya esli tak podumat' to hohlov, vinovatyh pidarov, sredi politikov bolshe chem russkih esli schitat Hrusheva, Brejneva i Kuchmu. Yetsin vinovat vo mnogom no v chem, odnim slovom ne skajesh.

  • I see nothing except an ordinary tunnel...

  • wow, no anti-russian bullshit yet? wow im shocked! come on, wheres all the immature comments about how "junky" this stuff is.. LOL

  • The balaclava you wear on your head is named after the town of Balaklava because in the Crimean War balaclavas were sent over to British troops to protect from the cold weather.

    brooksieb

  • jaja, I just saw my mistake- I just made it to Bakhchysarai, not to Balaklava. See, that is the problem if you have a hard time deciphering Cyrillic languages:-).

Guess those sad relics exist all over the world. Search for Bremen and bunker, there is a video from a second world war bunker close to my home- it is not mine and in German.

  • Never ever trust tourguides, they fail so ofter, especially those saying to cover a whole country or region etc. Always go to local tourism information center and ask for local booklets! We also have a former secret soviet military town of Karosta, here in Liepaja city, Latvia!!! I will post a slideshow of it soon!

  • I went to Balaklava in October 2005 as well and the base wasn't open then for visitors. So this time I made sure I was able to get into it!

  • Wow, I was also in Balaklava in October but actually missed that...what a shame! It wasn't in my tourguide...maybe still secretive:-)?
