I am from Flagstaff Arizona lived there most of my life. I have a niece and a nephew that is half Navajo. My ex-girlfriend of six years was Navajo. It was Mexican territory because Spain colonized it. It became Mexican property after Mexico got its independence. The Mexican ladinos enslaved the REAL natives of California. It never was Mexican land. It belongs to the tribes of California. Mexicans may have indigenous blood but that doesn't give them the right to claim any territory with indigenous peoples. Each tribal nation should rule their own territory.
My apologies, I meant after Mexican independence not revolution. Mexico gained the Western and Southern States from Spain after they claimed independence. Therefore, they have no real claim to the territory. The true claim belongs to the hundreds of tribes who have been their for thousands of years. The Mexicans came in and set up a labor system that exploited many of their tribes. The Mexicans are descended from native peoples, but not people native to that region.

It was Mexican territory because Spain colonized it. It became Mexican property after Mexico got its independence. The Mexican ladinos enslaved the REAL natives of California. It never was Mexican land. It belongs to the tribes of California. Mexicans may have indigenous blood but that doesn't give them the right to claim any territory with indigenous peoples. Each tribal nation should rule their own territory.

My apologies, I meant after Mexican independence not revolution. Mexico gained the Western and Southern States from Spain after they claimed independence. Therefore, they have no real claim to the territory. The true claim belongs to the hundreds of tribes who have been their for thousands of years. The Mexicans came in and set up a labor system that exploited many of their tribes. The Mexicans are descended from native peoples, but not people native to that region.

The Mexica people ran the Aztec empire, which did not reach into Arizona. Each tribe had its own territory, and none of the tribes in those regions are Mexica. I am Polish, that doesn't mean I can claim ownership of Sweden because we are both European.

I love and welcome the Mexicans as this is their continent. However, they (and you) need to stop pointing out the Southwest and California and whatnot was "theirs". It was "theirs" because they colonized it when the Spanish were in their country. California belongs to the Maidu, the Miwok, and Chumash, and the hundreds of other Indian tribes that have lived there. Arizona belongs to your people the Dineh, the Hopi, and Apache. Geronimo spent the majority of his life fighting Mexicans.

The Irish didn't go to the US as pilgrims, they came here as refugees because they were colonized by England. All of those cities have Spanish names due to colonization, European imposed names. The REAL names would be with the local tribes, who have no linguistic or political ties to the Aztec. The Americas have thousands of different Amerindian ethnic groups, all with a claim to their own ancestral territory.
