I screened this trail in 35mm hundreds (if not thousands) of times. I always thought it was by far the best of the Orange ads. By contractual agreement it had to be the last item to appear before the main feature (it made for an easy c/o cue).
what ever happened to Roy's last movie called Iron Cross that was suppose to come out this year? All I could find was this review of it, but I don't see a release date.
I Remember when I first saw this, I was totally "Wow it's Roy Scheider" He was one of these actors that didn't needed to be overexposed to be remembered.
Many of the young big celebrities today are not memorable, I can't remember their face or names. Roy Scheider on the other hand, I took one look at him and heard his name once and he was forever stucked in my mind.
My reaction to Scheider was the same as yours. His name, voice, presence were chiseled in my memory from first view of French Connection. Hackman was good, but I loved Scheider. Few years later I worked at Joe Allen's restaurant in NY. Roy was there almost daily. He also took gymnastics classes where I did.
I thought he was terrific in Marathon Man. And the expression on his face when he climbed out of his demolished car in 7 ups! How'd he do that? Gentleman, great actor. I miss him.
He was one of my all time favourite actors. Truly a great man! I didn't learn of his passing until today! I am so depressed, another icon from my growing up has gone. Roy, you will be missed! To quote one of my favourite lines from you Roy, you are simply "Outstanding" taken from Blue Thunder. RIP ROY we will miss you.
One of the greatest class actors ever. Unforgettable in Jaws and the sentence "we gonna need a bigger boat" was actually his own sentence he came up with. It wasn´t in the script. Loved him also in The marathon man, the french connection but also Blue Thunder a b movie perhaps but an A performance by Roy. R.I.P
The 7-ups and Marathon Man were two of his finest performances.....but as Chief Brody, he owned! "That's great...that's just great....you're certifiable Quint, you know that?!"
"Martin doesn't ike the water. He has an aversion to it"...."Yeah, Drowning"
"why don't u come down here and chum some of this shit...ARGHHHHH!!! "
Roy was an excellent actor and my hero, as he killed two killer sharks on less than five years. RIP. I will make my own homage at home watching Jaws today.
Roy didn't died of skin cancer, he died of Myeloma which is a cancer of the bone marrow which produces heavy white cells called paraproteins which the bondy can't cope with. It may also produce tumours. There is no cure for myeloma ,only treatment.
Jeez there dropping like flies first Brad Renfro then Heath Ledger and now Roy Scheider his greatest i think was Jaws and another i liked him in was 2010 the follow up to 2001. RIP Roy Scheider.
I'm not very emotional but I just heard of this and my tears are still fresh. Great actor and when the Oscars do the In Memorium tribute I think they should have a clip from Jaws and Roys immortal line.."I think we're gonna need a bigger boat." RIP Chief brody.
Love ya and your work. You were one of the great ones and you will definitely be missed. I was born 5 years after Jaws came out, but that was the first movie I ever saw for Roy Scheider and I fell in love him and with his work from that moment on. R.I.P Mr. Scheider!
"Jaws" is one of my favorite movies. I was really sad when I found out that Roy Scheider had left us to join Robert Shaw and everyone else in heaven. He'll always remain with us loyal fans.
I have loved Roy in all of his movies for years! The media is reporting tonight snippets of trivia like he had one of Hollywood's most memorable lines in cinema history "You better get a bigger boat" from Jaws, but check him out in one of my favorites Marathon Man and even 52 Card Pickup with Ann Margaret. I am a movie lover and I've always held Mr. Scheider amongt the high and mighty and above all an - ALL CLASS ACTOR! I will miss him.
Rest in peace Roy Scheider. I miss you so much.
