@PurepOis0n123 I'd like to remind you all, that the hedgehogs in this video are not domestic pets, they are wild creatures that just happen to roam in our back yard and delight us all. :) I'm not sure if it's safe to take your pet hedgehogs outside.
@rhebok I realise that, thats exactly what im saying.trust me if there were domestic hedgehogs i would have maybe 5.But because theyre not used to, and cannot get used to (unlike dogs and cats) to domestic life we are just gonna have to look at them in the wild or in the zoos...or in our backyards :D
@PurepOis0n123 Sure there are domestic hedgehogs, just a different breed. A whole bunch of them in the related section, actually. I hear they're not legal in all the states (and countries, I guess), but here in Finland, sure. They're quite cute, too! I'm considering of getting one, but they're expensive and take a lot of looking after. Maybe I'll just stick to the wild cuties in my back yard. :)
My backgarden has a family in the garden. We sometimes feed them if they come out, ad the right weather. But bloody hell can they run. One minute they're there the next ZOOOOOMM! No wonder sonic is fast.
OMG! The European ones get to the size of a cat when fully grown. Secondly, like cats rats, and raccoons they are omnivorous. They eat anything that is edible in the wild from nuts, to fungus, to small mammals (mice) to insects.
The African ones are small and cute and generally sold as pets in the US. There are millions of them in the wild, and most of the ones sold as pets are domestic bread. If you can have a rat as a pet - this is a much cuter critter that in many ways is like a pet rat.
That may be the case wherever you live, but surely not here. The European hedgehogs are a protected species - they can be fed but not disturbed or taken into custody. Only if it seems that they are injured or cannot manage on their own can you take them to a wild animal center. And no source about the European hedgehog whatsoever mentions anything about them dying because of flies. :)
I sure hope you're joking, but in case you're not: those aren't domestic hedgehogs, they're wild and should stay that way. Which means that they should be left outside at all times, and never be taken inside or kept as pets.
i hope thats not milk becuse heghogs cant digest it, so it makes them ill and can even lead to death,,, the best things for them is water, and to eat they eat slugs and fruit xbut aww sweet
Hope you bothered to read the info which said (and still does) "lactose-free" :) Hedgehog's can't consume milk because they're lactose intolerant, but lactose free milk has been proven to be okay for them. But I guess many people are still ignorant about such things, sad.
