  • O.O don't get the Martin Luther King thing...? this movie is about criminality in the US back when it ruled things... supposedly around 10 years after Martin Luther King's death actually o.O... and it's... about the mob? not equality, not civil rights... it's not about what Martin Luther King fought for... it's about some idiots o.O...

  • Tangos bodyguard was useless

  • one of the greatest crime movies of this era!!!! the Goodfellas of the decade!!!

  • Black on Black Crime

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr would be proud

  • @gfscarface13

Martin Luther King was beyond such terms, he saw murder as equally wrong regardless of race, as we all should.

Kanye might have had something to say about it, but that's because he's aware of the game, and how blacks are fighting one another for one slice of the pie while the white man owns the bakery.

There's morally right, and there's the right move once you admit it's all a game. Dr King was a morally transcendant man, willing to die rather than lower himself

  • @gavbag1234

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr fought for the Blacks freedom. What would he say if he saw the way black people have and are today?

He would be saddened, knowning he gave his life for equal rights for black people.

  • @gfscarface13

I'm not sure what about your post was a response to what I said. What he would have said he "faught" for was civil rights and equality in the face of racism and segregation. The whole point was that skin color didn't matter.

All this being said mate I think your dead right, but the world is more rational and fair now because of him, so perhaps he'd be glad of that much.

  • Please don't use Al Sharpton as an example of anything,he is a self serving phony that doesn't really care about the Black community. And I have to strongly disagree with you,Blacks don't use slavery as an excuse for anything, some Black people, just like some caucasians, and every other race is just flat out lazy! I can never understand why people like you,and many others when attempting to make a point all go directly to the"Blacks on welfare" like we are the only one's,and not everyone that's

  • In reality the money in the jar was left for the police.

  • Every scene that he and Idris Elba are in, his .45 is in a different position in his waist. First time, it's in his right side, second time it's in his back and when he kills him , he takes it from his left side. It works its way around until he finally pulls it out.

  • Who disliked this? Why?

  • Now that is The Ultimate BADASS right there!

  • Man frank is my fucking idol i would kill to be like him he had it all money power respect everything a struggling man wants.

  • Should have shot him in the gut.

That way he gets to think about it and gets to see his 20% before he dies.

  • What song is this in the soundtrack?

  • i'm hungry for donuts.

  • my man

  • Well that was well....called for?

  • how do you even get away with that?

  • C: "Would you rather be feared, or respected?"

Chazz: "I would rather be feared. Fear last longer."

  • did frank lucas really shoot the guy in the head, in broad daylight? in front of everybody? and go back to the restaurant? and sit down? like nothing ever happened? like... 4real?? CUZ THATS SOME GANGSTA ASS SHIT SON!!!!!

  • Shoots a man infront of witnesess might of happened, but sticki8ng around to finish his meal sounds stupid, plus, leaving a jar with his prints on it,beside a murder victim, sounds ridiculous. If it was that easy to kill people, the murder rate would skyrocket.

  • @benbenben796 this happened in like the 60s/70s, before america went all CSI on us.

  • Too bad he's a snitch.

  • that dude lived didn't he....? that's crazy.

  • common got scared up

  • fuck denzel what is wrong with you maaaaaaan.

  • Jesus, where are the police, typical Hollywood, try this for real and you're doing life, the crackheads who make these films don't live in the real world, don't believe me. try it.

  • @thecubanism maybe in the 60s it was possible. today there's so much cops and cameras even pulling out a gun in public is suicide

  • @661Sunshine actually yea in the 60's maybe. but being black in the 60's? no

  • @TheKATON666 true true

  • @thecubanism #1, it's a damn movie,. #2, it's based off a real story, Frank Lucas did gun down a drug dealer named Tango in the middle of a crowded street and no one turned him in. He shot him four times though, not one to the head.

  • Its a okay movie. The scene is badass, but it's on the border to being obviously unrealistic. The untouchables won't even go this far to send a message.

  • Lika BOWSS

  • Plugged dat nigga!

  • In reality, cops would've swarmed the place 5 minutes and Frank would've gotten sentenced to life in prison.

  • @StuUngar Bitch please! its denzel!

  • @StuUngar OK so this is a fictional account, of a TRUE story...frank lucas did shoot down this dude in broad daylight, and in public...and never got arrested for it.

  • @kuruptzZz From what I understand, there's no evidence of that ever happening except for Lucas's own account, which should be taken with a grain of salt since close examinations of the events in Lucas's version of his life story have proven to be filled with exaggerations and bullshit.

  • @StuUngar everything should be taken with a grain of salt, but it's nothing unbelievable, especially in those days...not the way in the movie of course, Lucas wouldn't have just sat down to finish eating right across the street. I see no reason Lucas would lie about this...in recent years he's been denying ever doing it, which just makes me think it's true.

  • This American gangster is a good movie, but they try to say its a true story...its just bullshit to make blacks look like they were powerful on the streets. Reminds me of how blacks claim they invented the light bulb, Jesus was black etc.

Just something to make them feel good, while they ignore their REAL history as slaves for centuries.

  • @agenthelios1 man u sound like a asshole

  • @jusdre313 So telling the truth makes me an asshole?

  • @agenthelios1 outside of the slavery i didnt see much truth in your post... im black and have never heard any black person say a black man created the light bulb.. and jesus is black.. meh im not religious so idc about that... but why couldnt jesus be black?.. if u dont believe it than dont,.. and yes our ancestors were slaves but you sound like your bragging about it.. i agree the film adds extra drama (what true story film doesnt?)

  • @jusdre313 You must not see any You Tube videos or go to any one of these "black" churches. I have seen it with my own eyes where they actually have pictures in the church of a black jesus on a cross with dreads.....no bullshit!

  • @agenthelios1 So a Jesus with blond hair, and blue eyes is more believable to you? if you read the Bible,in the book of Revelation it says Jesus had hair look wool, and his feet were like brass. That doesn't exactly strike me as caucasian.

  • @82BlackPower Im saying Jesus in general is fake. Whether he was black or white or asian is irrelevant, never been any proof. Its just a made up story to teach people lessons about morality. The point is blacks always try to exaggerate in order to make it seem like they havent been slaves throughout history.

They like to pretend they invented useful things or they like to associate themselves with prominent figures in history.

  • @agenthelios1 What does Blacks being slaves have to do with anything? do you realize that slavery was abolished back in 1865,do the math, how many years is that? and since you're such an astounding historian, you might want to do some research on the African Kings, and Queens that also existed.

  • @82BlackPower EXACTLY...you said it yourself...Slavery was abolished in 1865.....so YOU do the math! When are you blacks finally going to stop using slavery as a damn crutch to get all these welfare and social programs?

When will people like Al Sharpton( and idiots like him) stop saying everyone who doesnt agree with blacks is a "racist"...slavery is OVER, so get the fuck over it already!

  • @agenthelios1 on welfare is on it because they're lazy,so have actually fell on hard economic times. And as far as your "get over it" that's like telling jews to "get over" the holocaust,or telling Indians to "get over" having their land stolen.

  • @82BlackPower You just said that it was 1865 so "do the math" ...you just contradicted yourself and got owned. Just shut the fuck up already you hypocrit bastard!

  • @agenthelios1 Either you're confused, stupid,or both! I mentioned slavery only because you did,and if I did bring it up,I would certainly never include the words "get over it" the bottom line is you have no point, none of you on Youtube ever do....it's always just a bunch of mindless BS based on unfounded, and unsubstantiated claims.

  • @82BlackPower Look at your name "Black Power" What the fuck does that mean? What if my name was "White Power"? I would be a racist then and oppressing the poor black man who everyone owes something to because of slavery that happened over a century ago.

You are just a pile of trash.

  • @agenthelios1 You could call yourself Orange,Yellow,or Purple power for all I care,it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me.

  • @agenthelios1 Black Power and White Power mean two completely different things....

  • Rick James: Cold-blooded!!

  • Lead poisoning kills

  • He just broke his foot off in that guy's john brown hind parts.

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • shit just got real

  • shit just got real

  • @ 1:12 - "WELL, GET ON WITH IT MUTHAF"

  • If someone can go in broad daylight and shoot someone in the face and NOT get snitched at by anyone deserves to be called a BOSS!!!

  • Denzel Washington said in an interview about crime during Frank Lucas' era. "Back then there wasn't any DNA or cameras. If no one saw anything you got away scott free."

And I don't think anyone saw anything although that man got his head blown off in broad daylight.

  • @moneyright22 Yea your exactly right, i doubt they even had a database of fingerprints...

  • @moneyright22 No cameras?? But in the movie detective Roberts was using a camera throughout the movie to take photos of Frank Lucas and his brothers.

  • @elite4th ......... Anyone could see that he meant VIDEO cameras. This was the 70's, the only places that had video cameras back then was probably government buildings, banks, and other sensitive places.

Unlike today where even the smallest businesses have at least 5-6 seperate cameras, with good quality.

  • @elite4th your right. But I'm talking about video cameras, as in surveillance cameras. Stores didn't have video cameras set up to protect their property and by mistake would catch a murder. I'm pretty sure if Frank Lucas or anyone saw someone snapping pictures across the street while blowing someone brains out there would be two people dead.

  • @elite4th Cameras as in video security cameras or phone cameras.

  • @moneyright22

    +1

Also i'd like to add, even if anybody did see... they wouldn't live long enough to testify in court. The moment they got arrested for murder, their would be hundreds of guys out on the streets looking for leads to find out who the snitch was. A couple of dollars here or there, bribing the cops... it wouldn't be long until they found him/her. Look at our crime history with eye witness testifiers, compare the ones who lived and the ones who died... it'll surprise you

  • Idris Elba is a fantastic actor

  • I love this scene. I suspect in reality most violent psychopaths are generally unwanted guests especially so early in the morning, but nevertheless, this scene represents very good writing. You love and fear Mr.Washington within seconds. His comradery shines through as he brings in his family reap the rewards of his profiting business, supports a local restaurant in his local neighborhood, and demonstrates wisdom and patience like a true mentor - an example to follow. Continued...

  • @Grizzly0679 Shadowing the consequences of his profession has on the community, you love him, but within seconds he shows no mercy, barely any talk, and blows the other guy's brains out - returning to his brothers with that same patience and compassion he showed before. Truly unpredictable like a tiger drinking water, then suddenly pouncing on his prey, you fear him. Machiavelli would be proud.

  • @Grizzly0679 Machiavelli would not be proud. "The Prince" was a satire, never meant to be taken literally. He was a renowned proponent of free republics which shows up in every other piece of literature he has ever written. The man is basically the Stephen Colbert of his time period misinterpreted.

  • The guy was holding an orange, which is a reference to the Godfather. An orange signifies that someone will die

  • come on so fake!

  • The gun shot sound effect was so fucking stock, though. Needed a more realistic effect.

  • That's when you know you run the fuckin streets!

  • OH lool. I never noticed that Idris Elba was the guy who got shot by Lucas in the street. Wow!

  • Stringer Bell's should stick to working the books and not his mouth.

  • It's not unrealistic at all! The Mafia had cops in their pockets back then. And no one gave a shit about wat happened in that territory!

  • that was...COLD BLOODED!!!!!!!!!

  • Gangster.

  • 0:47 if you notice Tango is holding an Orange. This is a reference to the Godfather. Every scene there is an orange someone will die or pivotal moment in the story-line

  • @JTKatz07 fantastic catch, man. I noticed there was a replication of the Godfather theme during this sequence as well. Nice.

  • Frank Lucas, Alonzo Harris, and....Tobin Frost are Denzel greatest characters

  • @CerromeX Woah woah woah, lets not forget, John Creasy, Man on Fire. (:

  • Frank Lucas had police paid under the table so they wouldn't snoop around his business.

  • THERE YOU GO 20%LOL

  • The best part of this scene is he only takes his 20 percent. It shows that he killed the guy completely based on principle. He only took what he thought was his.

  • so to be somebody i got to shoot someone in the head i never knew that hold on ill be right back...

  • Yo homie that my 20 percent?

  • 20%

  • Browning Hi-Power in your face...

    "There you go, Twenty percent.."

  • Stringer Bell never sees things coming, lol.

  • @Reqrezentin lmao future marlo was like "hey. thanks man"

  • Denzel The Greatest Actor Walkin On This Earth! Fuckin Iconic Scene From A Legend!

  • Frank Lucas makes Tony Soprano look like Archie Bunker.

  • Re enters the restaurant and sits down...."So, ah, what was I saying?"......fuckin epic

  • @VenomfromaCobra i thought it was kinda cheap

  • @Ehvera I'm afraid I don't understand what u are talking about? What part of that scene was cheap? The fact that some ass fuck owed him money and got smoked b/c of it? Or the fact that he took his 20 percent?

  • 1:11

    Don't fuck with his money.

  • This movie was suppose to be directed by Antoine Fuqua who directed Training Day. Antoine wanted Bencio Del Toro to be the detective Richie that took Frank down. For some reason the studio fired Fuqua and went with Ridley Scott. Ridley Scott who is good friends with Russell Crowe had Bencio Del Toro replaced. Alot of people in the industry felt Antoine Fuqua would have made American Gangster more dark and gritty. Antoine said his version would have show Frank battles with other local drug lords.

  • big frank killin Stringer Bell

  • Haha after that moment his family knew he meant business

  • 2 star wanted level???

  • it pays to have good business ethics

  • now thats handlin business for your ass

  • Dumbass move on Denzel's part.

  • @jkellybrew how?

  • @Bignition He shot that guy in full view of everybody, assuming that no one would tell on him. He even says as much when being interrogated by crowe's character later. You should never assume when it comes to murder, it's all or nothing, the right way or no way at all.

  • @jkellybrew oh i agree with you on that fully its just when you said Denzel i thought you meant he shouldn't of done this movie

  • Words you don't never want to hear: "Where's my money?"

  • o u got tha jar.

  • So what was i saying..... ctfu !!!!

  • Here's a thinking question for everyone. Do you think frank did that to intimidate his brothers, or was it just a coincidence?

  • so what was i sayin

  • That was my favorite scene in the whole movie

  • Thats what you get for trying to pull rank on Michael Scott. He warned you motherfucker

  • capped that fool

  • Officer, He said "c'moun."

  • I don't know who's a better actor here...

  • Damn, Stringer Bell just can't catch a break.

  • @DatPicksburghGuy hahaha stringer got fuckeeeeed up again

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS VIDEO, WHOO ? WHO ? IM GOING TO FUCK YOU UP WHO EVER DID DISLIKE THIS VIDEO

  • @mcwail007 it was me, problem?

  • He just shot him like it was nothing lol, wasnt bothered one bit regardless of how many people were there

  • Total bullshit, only in the movies.

  • @pretorious700 what you mean only in the movies ppl getting killed everyday

  • Stringer Always get killed lol

  • Comment removed

  • One word: Swag.

  • My man, where can i find this music, any1 know?

  • 20 percent

  • Stringer took it better :D

  • lol, the police would have busted him, i mean, he didnt even escape. Stupid unrealistic movie...

  • @alejandronskiy My man! U mafcker run, run fo ya life!

  • @alejandronskiy

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • Sorry your right he did not leave the gun.

  • Personally if I owed someone like him money, I would just flatout pay and not have a bullet hole in my head.

  • thats what you call true gangster, thats based on a true story, about lucas, back in the day,.

in new york, ,..i lived there

  • he DID NOT left the gun.....its visible that he picks it up on 1:29 .... This scene rlz btw....You should never fuck with Denzel

  • Denzel was SO intense. he scared the fuck outta me.

  • he left the gun.

  • He left the gun prints all over them.

  • poor tango.

  • lol the more times i see Stringer Bell die the better i feel. lol

  • this scene was too over dramatic and laughable. no serious "gangster" would ever kill a man in broad daylight and in public, that is just plain stupid. lol he gave the dead man his 20%. AND the "so what was i sayin" line. lol i know i know it's a movie.

  • @boredtrophyhusband back then police didnt really give ah fuk up north

  • @boredtrophyhusband

    this is acually happend lol

  • @boredtrophyhusband The police at that time really were paid off. And these guys were so powerful that if they ever did actually arrest them, they'd be dead.

  • Don t get me wrong frank lucas was powerfull but there s no way he would get away with that.

  • I am rapidly starting to fucking love this film...

  • Was that a 1911?

  • @fidobeto looked like it

  • @cmiller8492 looks like a 1911 but I think its a Browning Hi-Power

  • So, what was I sayin'?

  • Stringer Bell can't catch a break!

  • i think it was Tukur from The Good the bad and The Ugly who said "If you want to shoot, shoot dont talk".

  • casually wiping his hands off when he was finished, O_O

  • stringer...WTF

  • scum.go out and get a job.herion destroys all people.
