Yes, those brave men and women died so you could be a fat, loudmouthed jackass...Or better yet, they died trying to protect the business interests of an elite class of politicians and death profiteers WHO DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU:
I like you but please never speed through Taps again. It is highly disrespectful. It's a quick summary, I get it, I always enjoy these, but you don't speed through Taps.
I think (?) your point is that there is no afterlife so the dead don't care, which is fine except for this:
I, geckochiq, *I* care about honoring fallen soldiers who died to give me this country, full of problems as it might be. I care about their sacrifice and their unyielding dedication to give me the best they could. I know this is the internet and anonymity leads to bold words, but that's an odd place to make a point about "once you're dead you're dead."
im pretty sure i said nothing about afterlife and my understanding of "afterlife", which i wouldnt really call it that, is more complex than u would ever be able to understand judging by ur ignorant comment. great that u care about honoring them, so do i, however u were demanding that THEY never speed through taps again. if u care so much i advise that YOU never speed through taps and get over what other people r doing.
LOL. Not even going to dignify the insults, but yes I asked that TPMTV not speed through Taps again. Imagine if CNN or FOX did the same - pundits would be up in arms over the disrespect. TPM should have either used the proper speed or not used the clip.
Do they have the right to show whatever they want? Absolutely! I as a viewer also have the right to express my annoyance when they show something disrespectful. I'm not sure why you care about my opinion so much or so sarcastically.
Rage blinds a man, but blinds a troop to make terrible decisions. It should be noted that a soldier must be calm and clear in order to survive under extreme conditions. Heck, Spartan soldiers listened to soothing songs before battle because there is no rage in bravery. But if that is how you feel, it's not my way to force this information on you. But you know, thanks for letting us know that WWII was a reminder we're the badguys.
Can't anyone see that this video is making fun of Fox news? They ar ejust showing how useless and ridiculous is that tv station. watch again you dumb americans.
I mean, why do we repeat these old military slogans and phrases without question? I'm gonna admit that I don't believe that anyone in Iraq or Afghanistan is really "fighting for our freedom." Now, they may believe that, but it's certainly not true. The terrorists don't wanna take away our freedom, nor could they ever. They just want to destroy America (which of course should not happen). You really think al Qaeda wants to take over and manage a nation of 300 million "infidels"??
And I think it'd be a mistake to not differentiate between soldiers who volunteer and those who are drafted, forced to serve the state. I mean, is a Vietnam vet who didn't wanna go but had no choice really of equal worth to an Iraq vet who actually WANTED to go? Think about that. There's so much stuff about military we don't question, for fear of being called "unpatriotic" or "traitors" or "anti-military." Well, I'm not anti-military, but I believe dissent is patriotic and good.
The soldiers we remember did fight for our freedoms and we should thank them for their service. We spend a month for African-Americans and Hispanics and rightly so; why not one day for our Armed Services? If you disagree, that is your right but who fought and died to preserve that right? Today's military protects us from terrorists abroad by being a shield and target of their fury. The police, FBI, and other law enforcement agencies are used to keep them at bay here on our soil.
I mean, what if the Patriot Act and other actions by Bush had made this country far more of a police state? Would it have been worth it to go to Iraq or Afghanistan? I mean, sure, they might've prevented a foreign power from taking us over, but when they get home, it'll be for naught! I think it's more important to fight our freedoms inside the country than the smokescreen of going abroad to do so. Our freedom was never at stake from a foreign power since ww2. It's such bs. but we repeat it.
The funny thing is that all the troops after WW2, u can't really compare. WW2 was a pretty justified intervention, and I'm a Ron Paul supporter. But Korea, that was a dumbass police action. Vietnam, ridiculous. Waste of 58,000 soldiers and 3 million Viets. Grenada, too small to even matter in the cold war. Gulf War? Unnecessary. Panama, just insane and based on lies. Afghanistan, not really. It's been a disaster. Iraq, totally unnecessary. So, I'm kind of torn here, to be honest.
I know it's the "hip" thing to do to celebrate and honor the troops more than anyone else. But really, are the troops more important than everyone else in this country? Sure, they risk their lives to supposedly fight for our freedom, but what about all the other people who fight to make this country great from the INSIDE? Don't they also "serve their country"?
The military worship in America and militarization is pretty scare sometimes. It's like we're in a dictatorship almost.
I propose Memorial Day be renamed YAY Imperialism Day, or maybe Killing Brown People is Fun Day, or maybe Lets Piss More Money on Weapons We Don't Need Day.
But then again honesty isn't the US's strong suit.
honor has no where been given enough! and the future as see it X_x has thus seen, what they shall bear and it's just a taste.. The majority is a pathetic nation anymore and let the sheep die as I feast off "leg of lamb"<3 let the chaos begin;)!!! God Bless those whom have served and bless the minds to those that do<33 and bless the already wise and many- -to everyone that thinks things will be okay, do not be blind and follow the flock.. your time is running out!
Congress knows that bloodshed is inevitable in America given the outstanding debt & rapid collapse of the US Dollar. They also know Veterans will likely be the first to stand up against Gov tyranny through guerrilla Warfare.
Basically, Veterans names are now being put into the Brady Instant Check Data Base to block Veterans from being allowed to own or carry guns of any type
Moreover, Obama he wont bring soldiers home; diminishes vet benefits
This guy is a white supremacist. The 88 in his name means Heil Hitler. He is just spreading propaganda because he is afraid the government is watching websites he visits.
My sympathies are with you. Those people who get rich off of war are the ones behind things, I am sure. They use our idealism against us and we die for profit.
This war crap is designed not to end; the money is just too good.
Major General Smedley D. Butler, the most decorated marine in US history when he died in 1940. His essay, "I was a Gangster for Capitalism" was a slap back at the bastards, and I feel exactly the same way as Butler. Maybe you do, too.
Oh, I was wondering what his problem was, as he seems disturbed. The government is probably watching everything he does. Do you know people in the Netherlands must always carry their passports -- or face a $50 fine if caught w/o it in public places. No wonder he went nuts.
Yes, i agree ... what was the point in truncating that song ... it's almost as if you're mocking the servicemen ... that song is a solemn musical cue that triggers in many Americans the fallen and the brave ... im a loyal liberal viewer and Democrat, but you should not disrespect those that fight for our country.
It was cut for time constraints. The song still contained all the note variations but at a frantic pace. It was an attempt to still be respectful to the deceased.
I don't know snipzor, I didn't like it. I used to play it at the town's memorial service when I was in high school and basically you can't fuck with taps. You just can't.
Yeah, fuck off to the firefighters and police too. We can fight the battles, take on the fires and catch all the criminals on our own. We don't need anyone to sign up and do it for us.
I'm down with saying thank you to those people who have dangerous jobs. I'd like to add cab drivers to that list (used to be one so I know how dangerous it is), coal miners, first responders of all kinds like EMTs and while we're at it lets throw in all the factory workers in countries without OSHA who make 90% of this shit in our houses. I'm sure I'm forgetting somebody too.
Better men (and women) than you stand guard while you sleep so that you'll remain free when you wake up.
They don't need your thanks or even your consideration. Because the rest of us are going to spend today making up for your self centered cravenness...and have a damn GOOD TIME, too!
