@brettcox88 This is using a flat lense case - supplied by 'eyeofmine' for around $90USD. There are still focus issues with the standard underwater housings supplied by gopro. You will need an aftermarket case, and there are a number of suppliers of them.
@1freediver heh and there are a bunch of sites with side by side comparisons of the gopro case and aftermarket flat lense cases so take a look. trust me - the quality is terrible with the standard gopro cases to the point of them being near useless.
Great video: pity you couldn't upload in HD (even 720p) as it is hard to judge quality at such low-res as 480p. Is that the narrow-angle 1080p setting or the wide-angle setting? Have ordered an oculus flat-lens myself, as the standard GoPro lens is crap underwater.
@dty2dty2 I am highly impressed with the video quality, and yeah youtube doesnt do justice to the real output. Some fish eye effect, and mostly shooting at 720 but happy with both 720 and 1080. Yeah Its a bit strange that gopro are unable to fix their housings for underwater and one wonders what their financial interest is in the aftermarket housings available. We are about to product test the oculus lenses although some reports of lense flooding so be careful when mounting it. eyeofmin casee A+
@megasimon999 yeah Nelson got hit bad but just rainy here - we are maybe 80kms away. I bought the Gopro2 in directly from the US as its cheaper than buying here. High retail markup and 15%GST makes most stuff well overpriced in NZ so I bring in a lot of stuff from the states.
@fishmadguy Standard housing it comes with rated to 40m I think. But focus is naffed on them - hence the eyeofmine aftermarket housing which fixes the focus issue. They rate their housing to 30m but also do a more expensive version rated to 60m. REALLY happy with the unit and although they are pricey they are worth it.
sorry, you said you weren't using a flat lens in this video? it doesnt look as bad as i hear. just bought a gp2 takin it out tomorrow!
