  • Wow, Kurt Kittner? Lol. I forgot he played football.

  • Rocky Harvey's dive into the endzone...

  • I was apart of the 99' illini team and it was even more exciting being there. That same year we crushed Ohio state something like 65 to 24 at OSU. It was the first the illini beat MICH and OSU in the same year.

  • KURT KITTNER!!!!

  • OH MY GAWD~~!!! Im seeing this for the first time. Amazing! Lloyd Carr should have been FIRED after this game! GO BUCKS!

  • Although I am not an Illinois fan(in fact more Ohio State) this has to be if not the greatest than one of the greatest college football comebacks in it's entire hystory. You have to give the Illiani the credit it deserves. I've been watching this video for about a year and a half. I was just wondering, what wad the mame of the song playing in the backround.

  • @brasscornet123

The song is from NFL Films. Called THE CLASSIC BATTLE

  • ROCKY HARVEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I turned 16 this day. I also broke my hand in that day's sophomore football game. THEN I had my heart broken. Still have a lot of respect for the Illini that year. They beat Michigan and OSU on the road, then they stomped Virginia.

  • Yeah illini, gotta love videos like this, GO ILLINI

  • nice 22 iso play to free up harvey. our fullback took out like three michigan guys.

  • 1:03 and 1:26 are perfect examples of bad coverage by Michigan.

1:03 - No one guarding over the middle. Once he made the catch, you knew he was gone.

1:26 - 2 on 1 defence with one reciever. So who was suppose to be defending against the wide open one in the back?

  • Brady is a beast

  • Illinois' key victory at #9 Michigan in 1999became the turning point in the football program's rise to respectability that year. The Fighting Illini had displayed determination and guts to win in Ann Arbor that year. Do not tell me this rivalry -- for two minutes -- is meaningless. This battle has been a classic tussle betweeen the two schools since 1990. A Brilliant 8!! Any Questions?

  • i was 9 years old when this happened. but i remember it like it was yesterday, it was the very last time i threw a little childish fit lol.

  • illinois is gonna beat some wolverine ass juice will be runnin loose so watch out bitches

  • Look forward to playing Michigan this year. Hope it's on ESPN and not the Big Ten network.

  • lloyd, harvey, young, kittner.. man that was a good team and that must of been a hell of a game to watch.

  • That 1999 Illinois team was a fun team and hot at the end of the season!

  • kurt kittner had a freakin cannon

  • how did that 08 rose bowl go. Michigan will kick your ass next year just like last year! Go Blue!

  • The only reason we lost this game was that the defense just gave up and said "There is know way these guys can come back." Brady did nothing wrong in this game.

  • I think scoring that touchdown with 59 seconds left could have cost Illinois the automatic victory by not going down after getting the first down. By seeing the final score of 35-29, I am thinking Michigan came close to the Illinois goal line, and perhaps turned it over? Because Illinois must have taken a safety to give Michigan a total of 29points as it was 35-27 with 59 ticks left.

  • I was at the game....illinois cornerback tony francis intercepted the ball and a michigan player marquis walker stripped the ball and illinois recovered it in the endzone. the officials ruled it a safety, but i have to say during the drive tom brady was super precise and you could definitely see that he could play some nfl football. the rest is history.

  • hotbiggin, thanks for the feedback. Son of a gun. Michigan did nearly tie the game then. If they fall on the ball in the end zone and get the 2 point conversion it is a tie game!!!! The dumb announcer sais that Harvey "seals it once and for all" as he scores with 59 seconds left. They don't think a lot of times. So stupid, still a one score game!!! Drives me nuts when the guys in the booth don't know whats going on and us everyday Joe's see basic stuff they don't.

  • Go Illini! Beating Michigan in the Big House!

  • Great tribute to Tom Brady.

  • Amazing come back in this one! Wow. Stunning how they never gave up. Brady was punished severely in this one. GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • michagans fan most hav went crazy in a bad way

  • kurt kittner!!!damn i remembr this game

  • Fooseballking, we have a new coach in Rich Rodriguez. Hopefully he'll do a great job. With all the coaching changes in the past few years (plus Tressel in 2001), the Big Ten is going to be an even better conference for years to come.

    Go Illini! Shred the Condoms!

  • I can't wait!! Illinois and USC meeting in the Rose Bowl. Go ILLINOiS!!!!

  • hey last time i checked illinois finished 9-3 and missagain finished 8-4. we beat ohio state and you guys lost 4 straight haha fuckin losers. next year illinois will own the shit out of michigan without hart and henne. oh yeah and carr is gone too. michigan will be like how notre dame is this year.

  • "hey last time i checked illinois finished 9-3 and missagain finished 8-4."

Wrong. We both finished 9-4 overall, and we beat you guys head on, AT Champagne, 27-17, WITHOUT Mike Hart, and with Henne banged up. And pelase, we will ebat you guys by 10-14 points next year. Go Blue!

  • youre dreaming

  • No I"m not. Michigan beat Illinois 27-17 last season in Champagne when the illini had Rashard Mendenhall, and Michigan returns most of its defense. So there's no way the Wolverines will lose to illinois in the Big House when the illini no longer have mendenhall. This will be a 10-14 point victory again for Michigan.

  • Haha Michigan is terrible. Did you see Illinois whoop that ass in your house?

  • "Haha Michigan is terrible. Did you see Illinois whoop that ass in your house?"

Well, I was dead wrong about that prediction wasn't I? Yeah, we totally sucked this season. Dickrod should be fired. He's a terrible head coach.

BTW, I think your guys 45-20 ass whooping of is was the highlight win of your season considering you guys finished 5-7. Congrats

    Go Blue!

  • why should rod be fired? that would be stupid let him get his players! this year is his first real recruiting class he only had like 2 months when he was hired in december signing day is in febuary

  • Because I feel that going 3-9 when you have such a deep pool of talent available to you is just unacceptable. I think we would ahve gone 8-4 or 9-3 had we hired a compatent head coach like Cam Cameron or Brady Hoke. I really don't think RR is the answer, but I hope he proves me wrong

    I mean, 3-9? A loss to Toledo? C'mon!

  • ha you think cam cameron would of done better with the players they have. where is the talent of offense? sheridan, threet, number 1 wide out who rund a 4.8 thats sad. the talent wasnt there on offense and rich didnt bring scoot schafer with him to michigan. let rich put in his safetys and linebackers because carrs safetys are shitty like stevie brown and stewart. and it was threets fault and the kickers fault we lost to toledo not rich rods fault

  • Cameron was a terrific success as o-coordinator at Michigan (hence also making him a Michigan man). He was a terrific success at Washington, San Diego, and Baltimore. And at Indiana, he was responcible for the development of Antwan Randle El and had much success with his spread offense. I remember in 1999, his offense was so good that they almsot beat us when we went 10-2.

Cameron is from the schembechler tree, but he's innovative, and he's a proven success

  • And unlike Rodriguez, Cameron is a proven success with real teams in real conferences. Sure he wasn't a winner at indiana, but then again, who is? Gerry Dinardo couldn't win at indiana. Terry Hoeppner couldn't win at Indiana. Nobody wins at Indiana. Cameron has Big Ten experience, whereas Rodriguez is on over his head. Remember that spread offense that we ran in the Capital one bowl. you can expect that kind of stuff under cameron

    Cameron>>>>>>>>Rodriguez

  • "number 1 wide out who rund a 4.8 thats sad"

if you are talknig about Shitavious Odoms, I'm not surprised. So i'll cede that argument to you

" rich didnt bring scoot schafer with him to michigan."

actually Travis, rodriguez did pluck shafer away from Stanford. I hope Greg Robinson isn't a royal screwup either. i think Robinson is good, but then again, I thought the same thing with Shafer

  • "let rich put in his safetys and linebackers "

Well, yeah, John Thompson and Stevie Brown were weak links, but not Obi Ezeh, Jonas Moutan, and Brandon Harrison. Charles Stewart was a sub. you can't blame him for much of anything. we had tons of talent on defense, its just that our coaching is terrible

As for Toledo, there's alot of blame to go around: Threet, Loapta, Sheridon, the horrible play of the o-line (thanks alot greg frey), the defense....you name it. its not just threet

  • brandon harrison is terrible man he has the worst covergae skills i have ever seen man ha. we have a new d coordinator so hopefully things will get better. rich is getting jt turner who was a 4 star and now a 5 star because of how good he is thats what he will be bringing to michigan talent isiah bell will be a beast to. william cambell, tate forcier most accurate qb in nation man. jonas mouton hasnt showed me much though, and obi ezeh is pretty good. brandon graham is their best d player

  • Harrison had a weak senior year, yes, but then again, is that Harrisons fault or the fault of Tony Gibson for not coaching him up? I think its Gibsons fault. harrsion was a playmaker in 2005, 2006, and 2007, and then he just fell apart in 2008. Thats coaching right there.

Turner is a stud. So is Isaiah Bell. I'm happy with RR's recruiting, but then again, he needs to develope those players and turn us into a winner.

  • i cant really see any games that michigan is sure to lose besides ohio state and penn state and we have them at out home. we play eastern and western michigan and delaware state. iowa sucks, msu sucks and so does indiana. i hope mouton does good we need him. i never liked harrison at all but rich will develope those players especially turner

  • Moutain is not a star quite yet, but he's got lots of talent, he had 76 tackles last season, and now he's a returnnig starter and he's gonig to be a junior. Mouton should be big asset enxt season.

I think Michigan needs to win 8 games minimum in order for him to keep his job. And if we go like 7-6, then we better beat Ohio State. I think thats the standard most Michigan fans will hold him to based on the multiple conversatiosn i've had online and in person

    Go Blue!

  • poole1dan, you are insane, RR is not getting fired this year, regardless of his record. 6 wins this year would be a success. Even if he wins 3 this season, Martin would still give him one more season to turn it around.

  • I agree that Martin would give Rodriguez one more season, but the rest of the University wouldn't. Martin will be fired along with RichRod should Michigan tank again this season. Martin was the idiot who bought in dickrod, and he'll go down with the ship.

  • Look dude, you think Rodriguez is the answer, and I don't. Lets just hope he leads us to glory, alright?

    Go Blue!

  • what if he goes to a bowl game this season and wins what will you think then?

  • Rodriguez is going to be a success, all he needs is time. The Big 10 is a power conference, but the struggle against the spread offense like the SEC uses, it requires the fastest players in the game. This is the beginning of an empire in the Big 10.

Look up a quarterback named DEVIN GARDNER, he is a clone of Terrelle Pryor and he wants to come to Michigan. you will be pleased.

  • Okay. if you say so. I obviously HOPE Rodriguez makes us a powerhouse, but I don't THINK its going to happen. And I know who Devin Gardner is. He's a high level 4 star (might be a 5 star) dual threat QB from Inskter, he's the teamate of Cameron Gordon, and he led them to the D-4 state championship last season. Gardner will be a great QB no matter what system he plays in

  • (Michigan Fan) I remember being so happy that they scored that touchdown and being so mad at the idiot commentator who said they sealed it once and for all. That just gave Michigan a chance you moron. They could have kneeled it and ended it.

We drove all the way down to the 15 yd when brady through a pick at the 1. If he played half as well as he does now Michigan would have one 2 more championships.

  • IMO, it was Brady and spreading the offense out that gave Michigan the chance to try to come back. They took their foot off their pedal. Brady, obv., is better now but he had some real clutch ability back then. I was at this game. Oy.

  • Illinwah!!!!

  • GO MICHIGAN STATE!!!!!!!!! 3-0 BABY

  • That Tom Brady guy never amounted to anything....

  • michigan chokes again

  • thanks for the great video, Doc

  • And after watching replays of this game a thousand times, my reaction as an Illini fan is always the same - Rocky Harvey should never have scored that last touchdown.

  • Why's that? I'm asking seriously.

  • Because he gave Michigan a chance to win the game. If he had just run out of bounds, the Illini could have taken 3 knees and won 28-27. Instead he scored and gave Michigan the ball back, who then went on to get a safety (which gives you the ball back) and a couple of hail mary throws to win in the final seconds.

  • Gotcha, I hear ya now

  • Can you believe how stupid the announcer was when he said that Illinois sealed it? The only way he should have went on to score that touchdown was if Michigan had ALL THREE TIME OUTS remaining. Do you recall if they had less than 3 time outs left? I am guessing they did not have all 3 left at that juncture. Thanks.

  • Illinois dominates Michigan in Basketball. They will be back in football to with these recruits

  • All I'll say is this: you guys are stuck with Ron Zook. Great recruiter, but absolutely awful coach. Have fun with that.

Oh, and that "tom brady faggot" won the Orange Bowl that year, before going on to win 3 Super Bowls.

  • michigan is still better

    p.s. #86

  • your an ass, illinois sucks.

  • illinois will beat michigan, quit being jelous because illinois got the best players out of the big ten. Illinois had its time once, and now they are back. Its gonna be great. fuck michigan.

  • hahaha, you two scum fags are fucking gay

  • thank you mwgoblue, seriously what has illinois done??? i'll answer you, nothing you douche why? b/c they dont have such a storied program as michigan does thats why.

  • Some video. Who the hell chose that awful racket for background music? I'm looking forward to our meeting in October when Zook's latest band of losers is held to -30 yards.

Natedogg, Michigan is the winningest program in all NCAA division I history. We haven't had a losing season since the 60s and have had around 30 straight bowl appearances. What has Illinois done?

  • But does being the winningest program in NCAA history make up for your fanbase being the largest group of miserable douchebags in college sports? Tough call.

  • great video

  • ha screw you michigan and screw you tom brady faggot that's classic MU athletics they get up high and then half ass it like a bunch of sad pansies

  • For the record, it's UM not "MU". Shows how much you know. As for "MU" athletics, I wouldn't be so quick to trash a program that has by and large done better than the Illini. I have nothing against you guys but to be blind and ignorant is stupid. The '99 game was a good one, too bad we were on the wrong side of it. Good luck next year.
