  • play some peaceful japanese music

  • im pro at thios

  • 1:49 WTF?

    COMPARE THE SIZE LOL

  • @wolfrox777 size does not matter alot of the japanese are small yet wen they r in the olympics take on big guyz and win.

  • Sambo It's throws,grappling and takedowns also

  • @skrimpshidy Yeah I know they're related arts, I did an Aikido class for a PE requirement in college, which I know also relates to them. Do you know if Sambo focuses more on takedowns or throws?

  • What makes judo different from ju jitsu?

  • @Larzuthul Not much really. Judo is 50/50 throws and grapling (but people that don't train Judo tend to focus more on the throws). BJJ is 80/20 grapling and throws. They're sister arts (people that don't train in BJJ tend to focus more on the grapling more than take downs..

  • @Larzuthul

Judo is more throwing someone to the ground, where Ju jitsu is more groundwork.

So Judo is more focused on standing up, jujitsu more on the ground with lot's of arm bars, knee locks, chokes etc. Also, Judo uses Hold downs

  • referee blocks images. pity.

  • Maeda who taught Carlos Gracie was a representative of the Kodokan and taught nothing but conventional judo. Judo descends primarily from the classical forms of Kito-ryu (already a non-combative stylized throwing art in Kano's time) and Tenjin Shin'yo-ryu (preserved in part in the Kime-no-kata). Judo descends from jujutsu but it is important to note that BJJ descended from Kodokan judo. However BJJ evolved into a fantastic art all of its own. There is beautiful 'ju' in BJJ's groundwork.

  • U R so right. Maeda brought Judo / Jujitsu to Brazil, but before that he had traveled and competed extensively throughout Europe and North America against all different western styles of wrestling etc.. So he hybridized his own style of Judo towards more of a wrestling style, less focus on the Gi, more ne-waza etc. in order to adapt to the variety of western styles he'd encountered.. In a way he really did have LOTS to do with steering the course for BJJ, besides just introducing Kodokan Jud0..

  • NICE song,,,,

  • What's up at 1:21? Looked like a big difference in weight

  • Comment removed

  • you can chose weight classes:) and then those peaples toke one weight class for all:p

  • that's is an open competition, no weight limit

  • Excuse me. I'd like to know the movie of song. As you know, It is very famous, but I do not remember.

  • Fool Fighter Band

  • Thanks a lot!

  • sorry aabout the typos in my last comment

  • Dont Missunder estimate the power and force of a judoka

  • @ZacoWhacko you sure its not underestimate?

  • Oh Yeah satotsuki watch Judo vs Wrestling to see the outcome and what sport would win

  • oh yeah, i guess. Man, most wrestlers can't stand to a judoka. American or otherwise.

  • whoa, no I'm an american wrestler and i don't think that would hapen.

  • Maybe a Greco Roman Wrestler, but all american wrestling is rather dull to me :l

  • Why are the two fighters between 1:50 and 2:20 of such different size. Shouldn't they be around the same weight?

  • All Japan is all weight categories. Toshiko Koga, then u71, once came second.

  • fatty man down

  • Does anyone know the name of the judoka who does the uchi mata at 1:02?

  • Hidekazu Ikuta

  • awesome vid, wats the song?

  • Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly :)

  • so i could be a black belt and still =get kicked by a green belt?

  • Of course, but posibilities are low.. Just depends of you, him, and luck.

  • I beat a black belt last weekend and I got my green last month :p. I was a junior fighting in the senior division as well when I did it ;). Belt means nothing!

  • Congratulations ChinaMan =)

  • Good Job and a senior whao has a black belt may only be as good as a green belt and whaen i was 12 i was fighting in a senior pool against huge high schoolers and most of them were brown nelts and i was a 7th grader fight huge high schoolers and I managed to take second place so and i was a blue belt at the time those guys were 3rd degree brown belts so that proves belt color means nothing

  • ~this comment is real late~

lol, the belt is only to hold the gi together that's all

  • yep. some juniors have done judo for 8 years say and because theyre young they cant grade high so they have alot of experience its possible for them to kick a higher belts ass, especially if theyre a quick learner aswel

  • not a bad video, there are many better on youtube that is for sure... for example, the Athens highlights.

  • Judo is alot different than jujitsu as i do both, judo is more of a contact sport. jujitsu is just a copy of many different martial arts. so anyone that says jujitsu is the same dont know what there talking about. The video is wiced best judo in the world, anyone wanting to start this would surely convince them!!

  • Brazilian Jiujitsu and Judo are almost the same.. just different rules and training styles. but 90% same moves

  • Qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq

  • yeah bjj is, but is he talking about jjj or bjj? Not enough people distinguish them.

  • bjj does kicking, punching and loads of different types of locks, judo doesnt do striking or wrist locks only arm bars. judo came from jui jitsu and bjj came from jui jitsu so you could say they are almost the same

  • No. your wrong. Bjj does NOT do kicking or punching. i train in it. and Judo came from Jujitsu and Bjj came form Judo.

  • i didnt say anything about bjj not doing kicking or punchin, iplu si dunno wa bjj you do but in all jui jitsu classes they do striking as well as other fighting stuff. i said that it doesnt matter wa the belt is of an opponent you can still kick ( meaning beat) someone else whos higher than you ( higher belt)

  • sorry buddy i was wrong , i didnt realise bjj didnt do it, ithougt because it was a jitsu it would have strikin in in, my bad :/

  • i agree whit you ... there is no kicking and punching in Bjj. And it came from Kodokan Judo. ´Bjj is all about ground fighting, submission holds, joint-locks and chokeholds

  • that is misinformed, judo is another form of jujitsu that was styleized into a sport how ever once you pass around nidan judo has striking in the katas. also it depends on the sensei some of the katas and overall atemi waza become over looked do to the sport

  • Yes, Judo s a Branch off from Japenese Jujitsu. Brazilian Jiujitsu is a branch of of Judo. Brazilian Jiujitsu does not have strikes in it. Neither does Judo.. It might in Kata but who gives a fuck about kata... im talking compitition full resistance Judo.

  • I know the history too. I also dont train under the gracie flag so you (depending how much time you have put into the art) may or may not have a better grasp in BJJ however I do have friends and family that also jumped on the gracie bandwagon, so I do have an idea.

  • olympic judo is only part of the art. i do believe that shiai and kumate is the key to ALL martial arts (you cant go to baseball practice and not play a game) but I also believe that Kata holds the Secrets to that art (kata is every little planed movement ie when you perform a throw its kata, kata is also the long routines that kano put in his syatem) you must have good kata to be good at martial art. Now dont get me confused with someone thinks kata IS the art.

  • sorry to correct you, but it is kumite pronounced (koo-mu-tay)

  • thats fine... your giving me romaji and i did misspell the word lucky for you i speak japanese. :)

  • Kata are where you practice all your strikes? Kinda why it's important?

  • theravenwing & ale55androvt are both very correct

  • thank you

    XD

  • Hii Guys, question...

Im 15 years old now and my teacher promised me, that i could get my brown belt judo this Decemeber. No in December, he says im good enough for brown belt, only too jong. I think its pretty unfair, what u think??

  • believe it or not my sensie said the same thing except with a black belt and he didn't give a specific time I would get promoted.

  • ahh ok, i get mine in August he says

  • I wouldn`t worry so much about what date you get your belts. As you get older you`ll understand that it`s not as important as you think. It`s your skills, your mind and your body. Just focus on learning and practicing.

  • the belt means nothing it is yout technique. Forgot about the belt it is just meant to hold up your pants and keep your gee together.

  • haaahaha ur right :D

  • im 13 nd have a brown belt bt i grew up in a judo family nd have been doing judo for 10 years

  • WTF!!!! i have 4.kyu and i´m doing judo for 4 years

  • have 2.kuy and have practised for about 10 years now, the belt does´nt matter its the judoka that dose.

  • Now you said you have been doing Judo for 10 years? wth!?!?

  • What?, our Clubb is a serius one...

  • wow man. RESPECT

  • The belt represents your technique. I am a second level Dan and I believe the belt shows the hard work I have been through.

  • i think who isn't so impotanly the belt who you have, but your intelligence, cold mmnd, and other skils who said u at waht grade u are...

excusemy for my english im italian for truth

  • don't worry about belt. Worry about becoming the best you can be. The belt comes with time and experience. Worry about becoming better and beating more people ;).

  • wht is the name of the throw at 3:33??

    the throw was fucking amamzing

  • I think it's a harai tsurikomi ashi done from the left side. I could be wrong though.

  • yes it was exactly that throw. tsurikomi is one of the most important wazas in judo.

  • are you even national class in your own country? Those guys in the video were the top judoka in Japan.

  • I agree with jd8602. Those guys are top rank judoka in Japan. And some of those throws seems beautiful to me.

  • btw if you didnt know japan has the highest standard of judo.............oviously

  • Yes you are right, but I have compared these

competiors and I think there are thousands of people more aggresive and faster than these competitors , eventhough these guys are from.......Japaaaaaaaaaan.

  • Judo is not all about being aggressive and fast.

I mean it may look like it is in competitions though. But It's all about being Gentle that's why it's call "The Gentle Way".

  • The reason why it is called "the gentle way" is because as a self-defence it isn't as dangerous or violent as let say jui-jitsu which means art of softness in which they teach deadly things like throat tearing and neckbreaking. But judo as a sport needs more than just gentleness(aggressive attacks and groundwork!)

  • I interpret it slightly differently. "Ju" is the concept of intelligent use of strength- through an understanding of momentum, balance joint weaknesses etc. "Jitsu" means technique or method.

  • The only difference between "jitsu" and "do" is that the princible idea of a "do" art is that it is part of a healthy lifestyle practiced for fitness of body and mind- not as something that you'd necessarily apply outside the dojo- whereas "jitsu" has no such conotations. I don't think the deadliness or otherwise of the techniques is directly relevent to whether it is "do' or "jitsu". Karate-do is full of deadly techniques.

  • yes thats right totally agree with you.

  • pretty confident most judoka or grapplers would wreck a JJJ guy now a days. Japanese juijitsu is so diluted now a days.

  • wrong

  • wer have just started to do judo at school and just as fecoki said, weight and strength does not matter. i am the biggest person in all of our class and i got taken down by one of the smallest ( me 5ft10 and 10stone him 4ft8 and 5 1/2 stone)

  • Judo should become a high school grappling sport like wrestling.

  • You got to pay to learn. lol Judo is an art and a sport not just a wrestling sport. Almost anyone can wrestle. -_-

  • @HomedudePedroski

yeah it would be great, then again not so great when they use it for fights at school lol. Thats one of the reason why they took out boxing out of school.

  • @HomedudePedroski it is in hawaii :)

  • einer von den 2 hat immer einen roten gürtel!!!

  • holy fuck a red belt

  • your kidding right

  • しかし柔道は日本より韓国がもっとお上手じゃないの..

  • Also judo is good for real life ass kicking, another plus.

  • Judo is a beautifull and fun sport to do or just watch it,the weight does not matter

I can not understand people who make bad comments or say them judo is better than the jap one,Yes I am talking about you,you turkish dush

  • under 100 and under 90 are my fav to watch.

  • nice mayne.

  • LoL CHAMPİON TÜRKİYE

  • LoL CHAMPİON TÜRKİYE

  • These look like all +100 guys. Where are the 73 and 81 fighters?

  • The All Japan Champs is an Open Weight comp and I think takes the best 26 in Japan. The only other way to qualify for this event is win a Gold medal at the Olympics. Only Japanese can enter.

  • Theres a guy in my city currently coaching judo that once made the all Japan team

  • I do.. cuz heavyweights isnt fun too watch.. like 2 pigs pushing eachother on back.. like 70-80 kg is best judo..

  • I fight -73kg :D

  • tell that to yamashita!

  • Oh come on if you have any sense of what true judo is you could be content watching any weight class of judo because all have different skills and techniques and each person utilizes theirs their own way and it is interesting to watch. I am happy watching any judo no matter what the weight class.

  • sukoi

  • waza always wins over riki

  • In the book "best judo" this argument is referred to. They basically say that waza in a shiai situation exists only with riki. In order for waza to work, the individual must be fit and powerful. The concentrations of speed and strength in one instant combined with good waza is the key to judo.

  • oh hell yeah strength matters in judo. I was at a competition one time when I was 16 years old and since I was pretty heavy at the time I was with the big guys and they basically picked me up off my feet! Good times though.... =)

  • Small guy did pretty well. Held his own. BUt hey strength does matter a bit. Even in judo! :)

  • ya! jigoro kano was pretty much correct on the philosophy but you still need strength with throws

  • Was this an open weight tournament? I noticed a lot of weight class variety.

  • All Japan Championships is a tournament where there is only open category. that's why it's called "All Japan".

  • the small guy lmao

  • brilliant, and the slow motion replays are REALLY useful!

  • I agree! I would love it if other vids did that. So good for dissecting technique.

  • The only problem with the video is that it is not long enough! Awesome stuff! Nice editing.

  • Man Great Video!!! Why'd you have to mess it up with the music tho? Great video tho, thanx for putting it up.

  • hey bro what was the name of the tune i really liked it!

  • Learn to Fly (Foo Fighters)

  • I wish American referees would let newaza go on that long :(

  • yea really. North american refs suck for newaza. These rules cause there to be such a huge amount of bjj trash talkers about judo.

  • Poor small guy...

  • how can that small dude fight that huge guy?

  • It's all japan judo open, everyone is in the same weightclass..facing eachother..so you can meet like -81 -90 -100 100+ even if you only weight -73 :)

  • the little dude held his own there for a little while.

  • "The little dude" is Uchishiba who won a gold medal under 66kg at Athans Oympics in 2004. His opponent is Tobizuka who is a 2-time Japanese champion under 90kg. He beat Izumi in 2004 but wasn't selected to represent Japan for Athans. It was Izumi, the loser, that was selected, and he won silver.

  • woah so amazing!

  • and eventually small guy lost!!!

  • Hiza guruma!

  • excelent video awwh uchishiba hahaha though mo fo to fight in this tourney THX for the vid
