  • Man that is an awesome trip!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got me a Adventure 14 canoe and can't wait! Looks like a blast!

  • Epic trip Brother! Man, you did an amazing job at putting this all together... perfect! I do gotta say that I'm a bit jealous right now though, hehe... always dreamed of doing a trip down the infamous Green River. Never had the chance to visit yet, but I feel like I know the place through Ed Abbey's writings on it. Now it feels even closer to home :-) This one had it all my friend! Two thumbs way up!

  • Good job on the video...Mr Powell would be proud!

  • Great video production! That looks like a massive place and it must have been pretty quiet having it all to yourselves like that. Nice to see all of the herons out there. Especially liked the Blue Heron shot around 13:00. I may have missed it, but what kind of ancient ruins are those? I'd be a little leery with your van driver that kept looking away from the twisty gravel road! That jet boat is an interesting contraption.

  • @kb9akp Thank you my friend! I appreciate the kind words! The Great Blue Herons are everywhere along the river banks and we scared up quite a few of em each day. VERY quiet and relaxing! A soul cleansing for sure. All of the ancient ruins you see in this video are granaries that were used for storing grain and corn. There are a few dwellings just south of Turks Head and along the Colorado River. LOL! The van driver has driven that road MANY times but I thought the same thing as we descented!

  • A few more creature comforts with the boats! Beautiful scenery. As always, thanks for sharing! One question - is the river usually that silty or was there rain recently?

  • @Pallooka51 Thanks for watching my friend! The Green River is usually silty. It may have been a little more silty than normal from recent rains (2 weeks prior to this trip) but overall, its very silty and muddy. There were some shallow areas where the mud and silt had piled up underneath the water and formed quick sand! I found this out the hard way trying to walk the canoe to the shoreline and lost one of my sandals to the quick sand. Glad they were not my favorite pair! :-)

  • The logo is wrong...shouldn't it be "The Southwest Paddler"?

Hey, nice vid. One of these days, I'd love to do that stretch.

  • @TexasBarnRats "The Southwest Paddler"! Has a nice ring to it. Yeah, the upper and lower half of The Green River is very affordable if you go with the right outfitter. I recommend Tex's Riverways as they are very reliable, professional and they will give you a better rate than some of the "other guys". Thanks for watching!

  • Epic adventure m'friend, well done!! I've done the White Rim Road from both directions...Mineral Bottom downriver and Potash upriver, very cool to get to see some of the sites from the river itself, vs. the road up above. Brought back A LOT of great memories! AWESOME time lapse at 12:32, and the heron footage which followed as well. You sure know how to make me jealous!! :) Best to you m'friend, I hope you have many fine adventures to come!

  • @touchnova Thank you my Brother! I've always wanted to do the White Rim Road. One of these days, I would like to do a 4x4 adventure and spend some time exploring this area from the top. There is a great campsite in Hey Joe Canyon. (upper half about 6 river miles before Bowknot Bend) and I know a dirt 4x4 road leads down to it. I was hoping to do more time lapse footage but I was worried I would run out of battery power . I must invest in a solar charger! :) All the best to you my friend! Thanx!

  • Beautiful! I had planned a canoe trip here with a friend back in the mid-80's, but for some reason, we chickened out!

    Wish we had gone! :-(

    Now I will go! :-)

  • @HikingAndTravel Thanks for watching! It has to be one of the best river trips that I have been on for flat water canoeing. About 4 years ago, I did the upper half with some friends and got caught up in a huge rain storm and the entire river canyon turned into a majestic scene of multipe waterfalls everywhere! I hope you get the chance to go because it is WELL WORTH IT! I appreciate your comment, thank you!

  • Beautiful video. Looks like you guys ate pretty well. Take care and thanks for sharing your journey.

  • @handyscot1 Thanks for watching! Always glad to share my journeys with you guys!Yes, we ate very well! In fact, after a 5 night, 6 day trip in 95+ degree temps, we still had some ice in our cooler at the end of the trip!

  • Matt, like a fine wine, not served before its time - awesome canoe trip. Absolutely stunning. So much wonder and awe captured, almost unbelievable (but it had to be true - your thumbs up were reassuring)! On aside - saw Magic the Gathering cards - Wizards of the Coast - they are headquartered just down the street from my workplace, haha, small world!

  • @wawhiker Thank you Bill for your awesome comment!

Yes! Magic the Gathering cards from the fine folks at Wizards of the Coast! I did not know that they were HQed in your area! How cool is that! Small world indeed. Played Magic the Gathering a few times under the tarp during long rainy afternoons on many backpacking trips.

The one thing I wish our group could have experienced is that wonderful Wawhiker style Shepherd's Pie recipe that you posted the other day! That looks SOOO good!

  • Loved the video! Keep 'em coming.

  • @azatrox Thanks for your comment! I hope to start cranking out more vids during the winter months!

  • just terrific, Im super jealous

  • @beast12101 Thanks Beast! 5 nights, 6 days on the water with surrounding like this... lets just say "Mucho Relaxo"!

  • Great vid

  • @nycbike73 Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate it!

  • Excellent Job!

  • So looking forward to this video, One of my favorite places and you captured it perfectly. Nice job Matt. The geological formations all along the river were amazing. The wildlife shots were cool too. Glad you went on that hike into Jasper Canyon it did give a perspective of grand magnitude...the honeycomb rock was sick! ahh that did not look like a little garder snake... Kimmy and I did a 12 mile hike to the confluence and we loved the place...did not know beaver inhabited these parts.

  • @ihikearoundcom Thanks Matt! About time eh?. There are about 20 different layers within the geological formations! Jasper canyon is my favorite canyon on the lower half. Major rainfall this summer altered the river banks and campsites that I remember last time were not there this time. Did not see very much wildlife this time. Beavers do inhabit areas of the Green but are rare to see in the daytime. Love the honeycomb rock! It's my new desktop pic! My next vid is on magic rocks! Thanx M & K!

  • Totally awesome footage Matt the views were phenomenal editing was excellent . Now was this family you were with and is this a permit trip were they limit when you can go and how many can be on the river at any point in time.

  • @medicjimr Thanks Jim! Took me forever to edit this! Yes, My Dad and his girlfriend where in the green canoe and I partnered up with my friend Terry who you guys have seen in some of my other videos. This is a permit trip but anyone who applies will be granted a permit (no lottery style drawings) and I do not believe there is any limitation to how many people can be on the river at any given time. The permit, basically, is a way to keep track of each party. Best time to go is in early Sept.

  • WONDERFUL! and timely... I'm researching and planning a canoe trip on the Wilderness Waterway in the Everglades. but after seeing this (and a personal love for the red rocks of Utah), I might follow in your footsteps

  • @ThreeWheelJourney Thanks for Watching! This is a very affordable trip and there is a whole lot to see along the upper half and lower half of The Green River. I do this trip every other year ( this was my 6th time) and each and every time still blows my mind away! Really enjoyed following you along your journey across the USA and I'm glad you made it back safe!

If you do the Wilderness Waterway in the Everglades, I hope you will share you adventure with the rest of us! Take care and be safe!

  • great vid as usual, thank's for sharing :)

  • @stefchollet Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you ejoyed it!
