  • @xhottestpink Im not sure on the type of actual flower they are, but some flowers are toxic, the list is actually quite long. But even so, Its not sanitary to stick the stems in the cake, she really should have used a posey pic or something, Anything could of been on the those stems, insecticides, bugs . . *shudders* . . If your using real flowers on a cake, Always use a posey pick!!

    normally,we wash roses petal,then put  in salt liquid and shake to dry.then we put on cake

  • I like fresh flowers, but be sure to get those that have not been sprayed. Probably not a ton of transference if they have, but still, not a good idea to use sprayed flowers..

  • Cream Cheese icing is the regular icing for a Red Velvet Cake! The only icing. In the South, that is all you use. Anything else used as icing and nobody would touch it.

  • I see you go to everyones channel and write about the cream cheese. Like I told you in another video. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF RED VELVET WITHOUT CREAM CHEESE ICING!

  • @utopiad4 The original icing is not cream cheese. It is a really bland icing that includes flour and needs to be cooked. My family makes the original icing, and my mom has a fit when people put cream cheese icing on a red cake and call it "red velvet". I personally don't care, or like the original icing. :)

  • @utopiad4 My aunt (by marriage) is a pastry chef and swears that the traditional topping for a red velvet cake is butter cream. I've also heard others argue the same thing. I, however, prefer cream cheese frosting - it just doesn't taste right with butter cream to me.

  • u can make it by your own :

    500 gr sugar (sorry for the european weighings)

    150 gr water

    u make the water boil. Add the sugar. boil until 115°C (239° F). Stop boiling and let cool down until 75° C (167° F). Don't stp whisking. Add the flavor u want (lemon, strawberry, sherry, cholocate etc..). u can stop whisking when the frosting is became white. u can use your hand also. Let the frosting in the fridge one day befor using.

  • Nice work sweetie.. u could have made those beautiful frosting/Icing Flowers.. I make the rose frosting all the time, its compicated but its beautiful.. and then get the leaf tube and decorate the cake with leaves. Flowers give of scents(not such a good idea) nice garnish though :-)

  • not all flowers give off scents....but when we use fresh flowers we usually put them in a "bakers stem tube" to keep the actual stem from being in the cake.

  • Practise, Alot, on plates first, or on plastic. I find it helps to print the writing style you want to use from your computer, lay the plastic over it, and then trace it, trace it trace it, untill you can do it from memory

  • I like Red Velvet. Way i do it is that i use the icing as the filling and use regular whip cream for the outside. Taste alot better imo that way than just the entire cake full with just icing. But problem i have about Red Velvet the sales just stink for it. FAmily owns a bakery and where its at theres nothing but mexicans and for them Red Velvet is something they never heard of before. But i do hear that Red Velvet is popular with the american side..

  • What your family can do in the bakery is make the red velvet cupcakes. That way it is not so intimidating. If a person is not sure of something, they surely don't want a lot of it, just in case they don't like it. Just something to think about. Take Care.

  • Not wrong at all...FLOWER SPIKES can be used to decorate a cake with real flowers/roses all you need to do is insert the end of flower into the spike then transfer it to the cake. When decorating a cake of course you have to make sure the flowers are clean a proper to be use on food.
