The way he did it seemed like he didn't even need the paintbrush to begin with, just dodged the tip and got in close enough so that his wrist and body would jam the range of motion of the long ranger weapon while he used the paintbrushes to disarm him from the hands. Regardless, it was an impressive demonstration.
