And since I always arm also the magnetos for more effective detonations beneath the hull (rather than to impact into it), it were ultrahazardous for the sub itself, if an eel were armed right after firing. The eel could detonate within your ship or just turn on you, once in the water. 3. With their agility destroyers can easily avoid hits in front.
It's really hard for a destroyer to hunt and sink a U boat.
