I have an idea of how to conserve water. You should add it to your video. Drink your pee. This has been proven to save over 2000 gallons of water per year. I tested it, and I only got 1700. That's ok though.
Even the US army and the SAS say to never drink urine. It's full of toxins your body is trying to extrete - it can make you sick. And putting it back in your body means your body has to use up even more precious fluid to get rid of it again.Drinking urine can cause you to vomit, which is more water lost. It has about the same salt content as seawater, which means it will only contribute to dehydration if it is ingested. The only safe way to drink urine is when its purified in a solar still.
I think that your videos are more informative and in-depth than most other survivalist videos out there. I like your approach in giving your knowledge to the camera. You don't claim to know everything, but you have good common sense, and you present that. (Which is ultimately what's important in the wild.) Thanks.
Joe, I usually take my girl friend and we lick the sweat from each other. A little more palitable and fun. Alway's good to see you. Yes what area you in?
You should just carry more water. I fill my backpack with what I need and the rest is water. I usually carry atleast 4 liters. What mountain did you climb? You should post a video on it.
Water is heavy, and some hikes last longer than the amount of projected consumption will last so you will either need to know the terrain as in a preplanned route (if it is a long hike, make sure it runs along or across a river/stream/pond or some type of water source), or just know how to acquire it in a primitive yet sustainable fashion.
Remember to take only what you need and respect the source by not doing too much "damage" to the plant or tree.
For water I just carry a water filter and 4 liters of water and every time I go by stream or puddle i drink at least half a canteen. Then refill it with the filtered water and a Gatorade packet. On small hikes ive drank a few liters of water and run out, I get very bad headachs, stress, heat exhaustion, lack of motivation. Big hikes above treeline involve no streams and can be tough. So take advantage of water while you have it.
I think this was a very good video..alot of good tips, some that I didn't know but will now use like breathing through the nose...Thank you for the video!

The water evaporates out leaving most of the solutes behind.
Drench a rag in urine and throw it in next to the collector

NOT ONLY IS THAT HELPFUL, but if i was lost in japan , it would be down right sexy.

nice vid friend, I was a dedicated runner in days gone by; and understanding how your body uses water is a cornerstone for any heavy activity.

I could, but sometimes you must train. Someday I will need all that I learn, and I'd rather learn in a controlled manner ahead of time.
Preparedness.
