  • best spurs players i've seen live 1. hoddle 2. gazza 3.ginola

  • need this song with the original music, was perfect

  • THANKS.... Way ahead of his time had to play 2nd fiddle to robson wilkins for england. signed by wenger for monaco.

  • Glenn Hoddle=PERFECTION!

  • not in zindane class you are a totally twat hoddle was magic

  • his goal at 1:38 is just incredible!!

  • How's irene Glenn? Lol twat

  • Great player, but also not too bad a England manager to be fair to him.

England played some great football under him (much better than the shit we have just seen). No mean feat with a line-up that regularly featured Batty, Ince, Adams and the Neville brothers. All decent players in their own way, but none was a 'fooballer'.

  • Hoddle, your still the biggest fuckwit of all time, gay cunt, fuckin leaving gazza out of the 98 world cup, you make me sick

  • @tysonlefthook gazza was smoking and drinking and didnt even play for a club because rangers sacked him, think you should take that comment back hoddle probly best englad manager since venebles he took us to a penalty shoot out with an incredible argina side with ten men!

  • Class Act - if we had a midfielder who was remotely as creative right now, we may even have half a chance of winning the world cup!

  • Thanks for sharing these wonderful old clips. Yes , he should have been an automatic pick for england for at least 10 years but england managers all seemed to distrust instinctive flair players - such a shame . As for better than Zidane though ,er , no. Zidane excelled at the business end of major tournaments ; Hoddle merely acquitted himself well at that level - no shame in that at all of course and i wish we had a midfielder like him now !!

  • useless yid cunt

  • @arsenalgoonerable You have shown yourself to be as ignorant and moronic as it gets

  • @arsenalgoonerable not as good as ray pikey parlour eh?? lol

  • brian robson wasnt in the same class as hoddle. why did robby robson not build his team areound glenda. he is the closest thing to platini or maradona that england has ever produced

  • As an Italian lad growing up in Australia, Totenham was my team and the reason for that was simply my hero - Glenn Hoddle. He was the greatest I have ever seen. He was so far ahead of every player it wasn't funny. He had it all - would glide with the ball when dribbling, could pin point a pass from 50 metres away and could shoot with power and precision - left or right. Simply a Footballing Genius.

  • Absolutely, his 2 footed ability was uncanny, true class.

  • The greatest passer of the ball I have ever seen, and I'm 46! Two footed and wasted by England played on the right. Even better than Gazza, and that says it all.

  • the best

  • the closest player we've had to Zidane. Brian Clough once said that had he been England manager, he would have built the whole team around Hoddle.

  • He's better than Zidane.

Zidane only shone with great teams. Whereas wherever Glenn went he was a star.

  • @KLguy133

LOL. Please mate, wash your fucking head out. Not in the same class as Zidane.

  • @Soyuz19

    Zidane is Zudung LOL

  • @Soyuz19 If Zidane was English his talent wouldn't be encouraged Hoddle would of been a bigger player if he wasn' born in England.

  • he's from london. and lived in bishop storkford but now coaches in spain..his brother carl was gonna do it too.

  • he seems southamerican cause of his technique. But, how many caps he play for England??? not many, really??? why?? he was a fantastic player........

  • Pablotjob you have just expressed everything that's wrong with English soccer!

  • My all time hero! The greatest passer of a ball i've ever seen and he had the vision! That one quality that can't be coached or practised!

  • Of all the Hoddle Video's on here, this is the best. Inspired choice of song which truly shows the genius at his majestic best.

I could watch this all day.

    Cheers.

  • I hope what they say is true, that is that tommy huddlestone can be just as good.

  • Dream on. He'll be at Orient next year.

  • Legend - VERY proud to have him a part of Chelsea's History!!

    Bobbie

    FOREVER Chelsea!!

    :)

  • He was only there for five minutes!

  • why in heaven state your fourteen then?well weird mate

  • this man was a gifted footballer , we are lucky

to have seen him and his magic touch .

open your eyes and watch the skill of a true great !!!!!!! FK HERO

  • cppleewox does know a genius if it hit him in the face though you dumb little turd,i saw gascoigne play before your mum n dad met in that back alley so shut up,any player will tell you gazza was the best of his generation and was dropped for no good reason, exept he liked a pint n a fag,but with talent like his who cares?

  • hello , I saw Gazza Peters Chivers , ardiles , villa , oh i forgot Iam 56 yrs sonny so dont call your elders names it is not nice .

be nice !! on the net

  • Aye Aye cripplewoox, are u gazza's brother or summat pal ? Only his bro would defend the beer swilling chuffer like u do mate. Hoddle's goal v watford is still one of the best goals ever scored, can't remember any one of gazza's goals, they were all pokes in from 3 yards weren't they pol ??!!! Only thing I remember about gazza was him grizzling and lineker telling robson to get him off the pitch ASAP, nowt new there.........

  • dont make me laugh u idiot, your trying to tell me that scholes was better than gascoigne??NO WAY IS MY ANSWER TO THAT!and hoddles desision making is very iffy to say the least, talent like gascoignes was surley taken for granted and the only losers was hoddle and the squad,i bet they wanted to kick his arse

  • Gascoigne was nowt but a kebab eating loose cannon, and u know it u idiot ! Yes, gascoigne was probably better technically than scholes, but Scholes is a model pro who didnt spend the height of his career getting bladdered every weekend.I'm sure every club in the land would love a a scholes - dedicated, LOYAL, hardworking and doesn't quibble about having an extra 10 grand in his pocket every week. Gazza must have been a managers worst nightmare with his antics.

  • Genius. Pure, sublime, midfield brilliance, a footballer's footballer. Tottenham's finest, England's finest and could have been England's best manager if it wasn't for the rabid pox-ridden media in this country. Remember that when you buy the Star, Sun, Mirror or whatever toilet roll you read.....

  • The only team that were going to win France '98 was France. Hoddle's skills were sublime, & he had a rare trait ... in that he always had a go. Good on him - used to love watching him play. Thanks for posting - Jimbo

  • hoddle is a fuckin wanker, lost us france 98 he did because he dropped gazza just because our best player wanted a kebab,i wont ever forgive the little rat

  • I think you will find the ref who disallowed Sol Campbells perfectly good goal v the argies was to blame for Englands exit (plus him falling for Simeone's play acting). Steven Gerrard is probably the only current english player who has ever come to close to having as much ability of Hoddle, even he plays second fiddle though !. Shove that up yer kebab !

  • I agree, but Gerrard has really yet to perform in in England shirt, compared to what he's done at club level. Hoddle was great at both club and international level, although I'll grant you he was a p1ss poor England Mananger

  • bollocks m8,gascoigne was englands backbone n u know it

  • bollux buddy, gascoigne "could" have been a great player but he just turned into another kebab eating waster in a lacklustre period for english football, bar Paul Scholes !

  • that goal was brilliant , but remember the goal was not given because SHEARER fouled the keeper.

ps cppleewox would not no a genius if it hit him

    in the face

  • Mate, what would he be worth today? Absolute Tottenham legend.

  • if only england could have built a team around him;

    F*CKING LEDGEND

  • The 80s.. Hoddle, Waddle,Barnes, Gascoine in 2008 these are such players of brilliant vision and skill the current Premiership and entire English league youth systems put together can only dream of producing. RIP English football..

  • just loved that goal v manu, what vision and technique ! some quality snippets there of The Man in the Middle, quality

  • Hoddle was certainly one of the most gifted players of his generation, a thinking mans footballer a la Paul Scholes of the modern era, coincidentally neither of them can tackle for toffee !! :-). Cracking video, more Hod crackers plse !.

  • HA!

    good call on that, lol

  • Breathtaking.

  • Put it this way.......The man is GOD and that's that.

  • definatly agree with everyone, he was technically the best 2 footed player ever he could o all that when the ball weight half a tonne and wouldnt bend and dip just like that, best play maker and best all round good guy, was a spurs legend scored on debut and scored in his last match who could possibly question his class?pitty he was overlooked as an england player.

  • the balls to be honest were actually a little lighter, like playing with a slighty heavier volleyball.

  • I was at that game against Oxford United way back in 1987 when he scored that goal(1:40). I was just 13 at the time.

I am now 34 and met him in soho square a few weeks ago and was in total awe at meeting my all time ledge....To Hod the God I salute you squire...

  • Where is Hoddle now and Gazza - would love to see what they look like now and what they are up to?

  • I don't think I've ever seen a player make more goalkeepers fall on their asses than this guy

  • i never thought i would c a better player than hoddle, for both tottenham and england,he was that good,,but then gascoigne turned up and proved me wrong,,hoddle was pure class, but gazza was a genius,,the best player both spurs and england have ever had,,,and nicksprs, good video mate

  • hoddle for me was better than gazza, its a close call but hod is defo god.

  • GODDLE!! SIMPLY THE BEST.....EVER!!

  • the man was a gr8. if only the england managers had had enough sense to build the team around him they might have won something.

  • england managers dont believe in talent[gazza aside]all they r interested in is players who will run all day and graft, the 1 player they have with pure talent is joe cole, but mouriniho drilled that out of him,and of cause rooney is world class, but they isolate the bastard up front on his own

  • simply the best

  • technically very gifted.

  • Ghod.

  • i first saw hoddle at the FA cup Final against Man City then against QPR. i was 13 and thanks to him i began to appreciate the playmakers in the game. Unlike George Best, Liam Brady, Charlton or any, Hoddle was the only one who COULD DO A NUTMEG IN 1 SECCOND folloed by a goal-assisting 30 metre pass the very next SECOND ! UBERCLASS !

  • He's the reason I'm a football fan! Nobody does it better :D Excellent vid! xx

  • keepers had shorter arms in those days - Discuss- lol

  • LOL....

  • i watch this clip every day before practice and games, this is has inspired me more then any player in my generation could ever have. I wish i was born earlier to see this guy in his prime.

  • best english player ever and any nob that says bobby chalton or bobby moore yes they were legends in their time but could not keep up in todays game when hoddle in his prime he could play for any team in any time period! hod 4 god!!!!!

  • my fave vid on you tube brilliant

  • He was right or left footed?????

  • right footed

but he was so talented, it didn't matter to be honest

  • The most gifted midfielder produced in England. He could be what platini or Cruijff was for France and Oranje respectively, just that there were some pretty dumb England managers who couldnt decide whether to build the team around him or play the traditional physical english game. Eventually physicality won the order of the day, & so Hoddle's England career came to an end - 55 caps. The same dumb managers who thot that Shilton was better than Clem after a period of indecision!

  • Agree 100%. The team should have been built around him.

  • Glenn hoddle was the best THATS IT

  • my fave player of alltime, nobody oozed skill quality & class quite like glenn did during that period of english football.dalglish was great but didnt have the same skill level as glenn, played different positions anyway.

  • 1.38 - how

  • hoddle hoddle hoddle hoddle, born is the king of white hart lane.

the goal at 2:40 should be the whole move from the free kick not just the shot. but great video

  • my hero , genius , yid till i die .

  • Genius..end of...

  • who's the goal against that starts at 1:36 ?

probably the best individual goal ever and yet he only beat 1 player and the goalie

    pure class goal, that one

    cheers

  • Oxford United. Hoddle's final home game for Spurs, the week before the FA Cup Final against Coventry.

  • The greatest English born player of all time. Anyone who watched him in training saw him do things no-one else could. How else could Crooks, Archibald, Lineker and Allen have scored so many?

  • A bit difficult for Lineker! He joined 3 years after Hoddle left for Monaco!

  • I'm referring to Lineker's England goals!

  • that man could peel an onion in his pocket, spurs,s greatest player, tell

  • he was is and will be my alltime fav. tottenham player! spurs forever....

  • my god low that volley against man u ohhh myyy gooood amazing!!!!

  • born is the king of white hart lane

  • Hoddle the king of white hart lane!!!

    spurs in new zealand

  • Great video matey. Nice to see a youtube video with skills and passes instead only only goals!

Great player! Up there with Beardsley and Gascoigne as the top British playmakers of the modern era!

  • your wrong top british playmaker ever

  • dalglish?

  • supose but no one can even hold a finger 2 hoddle but yes dalglish was also the dogs bollocks

  • Dalglish was great, prob best in scotland at the time. But he was no playmaker, more the creative forward type. During his Liverpool days, it was Souness who was the team's engine. A tough no nonsense defensive midfielder similar to Dunga. Liverpool only had a playmaker when Molby came along.

  • From the first Goal & first game (STOKE AWAY) Till the last. (OXFORD HOME) HOD-the-GOD Gave Football more than any other in the way of pure genius and pure skill... THANK YOU GLENN!! I wont mention any other player as none matched HODDLE!!!

  • ur havin a laff wilson le tiss great player but there will only ever b 1 hodd

  • The most skilfull English player EVER. FACT.

  • My parents called me after him , damn he was great !!!

  • This man is amazing....

  • Terry Venables said he had feet like hands. I saw him play against Wimbledon at Plough Lane and it has stayed with me ever since. The guy was the most elegant player to watch, better than Le Tissier and better than Platini. I'm not sure if this is apocryphal or not but I heard during France 98 he was swapping passes over 40 yards with Beckham, both in total control and inch perfect ofcourse. Only Hoddle was volleying them back, rather than trapping them first

  • come on you lillywhites!!! Hoddle is a legend, always!

  • Loved Hoddle as a player. My problem with him though is he wasn't given enough chances at international level, then when he became Englan manager he wouldn't pick Matt Le Tissier who is probably the only Englishman ever with even more skill than Hoddle had!

  • This man was a truly gifted player!!. I really like the english team in the late 70 & early 80: Hoddle, Trevor Francis, Kevin Keegan, Trevor Brooking, Peter Barnes, Steve Coppell, Ray Wilkins, Tony Currie, Kenny Samson, Graham Rix...maybe one of the best england team?? What do you think??

  • If only u were born in the 80s...beckham couldnt even touch u in terms of class...

  • Superb Video of probably the most skillful Englishman to ever play the game. A pity he couldn't do the same job for us as a manager, but it must be hard trying to get players to do what you could do, when they haven't got anywhere near the same ability.
