Glad to see someone else holding the ukulele on the lap. That position provides more stability than clutching it against the chest. The sounds also seems to project more. A footstool for the left foot (right foot if you are lefthanded) may also prove helpful.

@firemedic726 actually you can strum a ukulele with a pick. a lot of singers/ professional uke players strum with picks because its a natural amplifier. like, if you dont have an acoustic/electric uke, a pick makes it a lot louder.
