Getzen is the 2nd best for trombones. They're EXACTLY the same as Edwards, except they cost about $700 less and they don't have interchangable bells. SUPER excited because I just got a tenor Getzen Custum Series 3047 AF!!! It was about $3500, but it was WAY worth it... Never tried a Getzen trumpet. Are they any good?
Getzen trumpets are the beastest trumpets ever. they sound really cool, and hitting the highest f where all fingers are down is awesome. thumbs up and like if you agree that trumpets rock!
@UnsignedVoid32 It looks like it might be their 390 model. Its a beginners trumpet, but it is very good. It might even stand up to some other makers intermediate trumpets, at a lesser price.
@lilalten80 its a very good idea, i play acoustic and electric guitar, electric fretless bass, cello, flute, and learning trumpet. i can play most stringed stuff, some sax and clarinet, but i dont have them, just play when i have a chance
the maestro of my orchestra can play any instrument, really, any
try learning flute, the fingering of flute and sax are very very similar, flute is even easier!
3 valves makes fingering simpler, but blowing A LOT harder, cuz each position makes 5-7+ notes
@lilalten80 you can learn to play as many instruments as you like. if you want to be really good, though, you should focus your practice on one instrument.
I play a trumpet and this is my second year and this kinda scares me bein a kid in all playin an instrument that been threw all that nasty stuff, lol, but i love it.
@lilalten80 While learning the saxophone is more complicated than the trumpet, you may find it easier to stick to the sax. You will be getting messed up with your notes and fingerings, you get used to one, and stick with it. But if you want to, go ahead.
@TheGlowmeister 1 ok i dont know alot of people make trumpets that look alike 2 i know not all trumpets look the same i happen to play trumpet and have three 3 not all kings look alike not even if they are the same edition 4 and i looked at the thing and its at the getzen factory? never heard of it
@gangstarsonny Actually, there are a lot more trumpets than just a B♭, although the B♭ is the most common. F, C, D, E♭, E, G and A trumpets are also available.
@209raiderz uhhh it depends if you have a piccolo trumpet or something or if you have you tuning slide tuned and i think it also might if its made of certain metal im not sure about that part... but it also has to do with the mouthpiece you are using and the trumpet player ever trumpet player sounds different
After soldering, cleaning and buffing, the horn goes into a machine that is full of tiny particles of (most common) fruit seeds. These tiny grains polish the brass until it comes to an incredible shine (several hours later). Then, the horn is often lacquered to preserve this look and protect the brass from tarnish or it is silver plated.

I didn't know that this was how they were made at all. I play trumpet and this is really awesome. I thought when he wa hammering the bell out, there is no way my twenty-five hundred dollar trumpet was ever that ugly.
I've been playing trumpet for seven years. I can't imagine having had to teach myself. Good luck with your trumpet playing! I sounded like crap in the beginning but I didn't give up and now I don't think I'll ever stop playing.
I was given a slightly beat-up trumpet recently and have been having a great time teaching myself to play. When I recently set out to buy a better one I decided that I would try to get a really good used one and found that the surprisingly expensive used student model didn't sound anywhere as good as the one I had! This is a fascinating video which explains to me why one day, I'll feel no guilt in buying such an expensive instrument.
MSax, I've never played a yanagisowa saxophone but I'm sure it's a very fine instrument and well worth the money. Frankly my Selmer is a better horn than I am a musician.
I think Haydns Trumpet Concerto in Eb was the first piece written for a valved trumpet. I see now why a top quality instrument costs so much. I have a Selmer Mk 6 tenor saxophone that I paid $800.00 for 20 years ago. I'd hate to try and buy one today. Incidentally mine was used when i bought it and I spent another $400.00 or so having it refurbished. This was back when I couldn't really afford it and a very good artisan had mercy when he charged me.
I have a Yanagisawa 880 tenor sax. I bought it also some 20 years ago for 1300 euros (brand new, taking advantage of a special offer). I spent another 300 euros five years ago to have it fully readjusted. Before repairing it, the guy offered me 2100 euros. I think this kind of instrument are precision machines. I love my Yangisawa.
@SpeedyNeutrino43 No, it was written for a KEYED trumpet, not vales. The keys were very like those on a saxophone! There is an example of a keyed trumpeter playing the Haydn Concerto on Youtube

how do they polish brass after soldering?
especially those tight spaces between tubings of valve cylinders? that's what I want to see.

@simhopp
