When you look at their catalogue...I doubt there's anyone in the history of popular music i.e from 1AD to 2011..that's had such success......like Steveland Morris, they have NEVER written a bad tune...and I'm a hard to please guy !!!!!!!!!!!!

@Johngtr13 There are two mixes of "FM" in the standard studio output of SD. The version with the Phil Woods sax is the one most often found in the wild. Like you, I always wanted to get a copy of the version with the screaming lead that was used as the outro music on the actual "FM" movie. The good news is that you can get a copy of that version by buying the "A DECADE OF STEELY DAN" compilation CD (MCAD-5570). Enjoy!
what a perfectionist, his albums are the best sounding, i know sound engineers and they use his albums when they set up sound systems to dial in the sound, my fave song by him to, what a band,

i know it's customary to respect the classics, but i think nathan haines and 2-D did a better job on this one
sorry

I think it's a great mix, considering it's Youtube! The backup singers just belted out "No static at all" big and bold.

Sounds fine here too. I'm guessing that the poster uploaded a copy with better audio.

Best jazz rock band

Was it intentional to have only the rhythm and lead vocal come out? I kind of liked it so that I could play my own tenor solo to the chords

Probably an issue with ripping the audio from a 5.1 or 7.1 source.

Love the song. Too bad you can't hear the horns or the back-up singers...
