there is no official sdk from apple. This means that apple does not support 3rd party applications. However, there have been several groups. primarily the iphone dev team that have figured out ways to create apps for the iphone. I'm sure somehwere on the web theres a guide or so.
I simply took the idea of the web apps, which apple has released the SDK for and made them run of the phone directly.

I believe most of the iphone apps are web2.0. Is there anything specific your looking for?
