  • I just saw a new toy for live shows. Check out the TC Helcion H1 . I'm gonna have to check out one of those . lol

  • What's up with this much humming?

  • @chrisbarretto10 lol Too many wallwarts playing games with each other . Main source of hum was in the cable running from the mixer into the camera. The VL3 uses a wallwart , the mixer uses a wallwart , and the camera uses a wallwart .. all on the same powerbar. lol I 've never had a noise problem with the VL3 working through my main PA while doing shows.

  • why don't you talked about the humanizer control

  • @Berlusfan The Humanizer works with the harmonies. It throws the voices off ( key and timing ) to make it sound more like you have real singers backing you up. If you turn it far enough , it'll sound like eveyone's drunk. lol

  • Yup. Exactly. So, I thought that the pitch control was necessary for the backing harmonies to be right on with the lead vocals. Do they stay with you without pitch correction on? I'd test it myself but I won't be able to plug it in without bothering everyone around me right now. LOL

  • @NHLManiac97 No. You don't need the pitch control "on" for the harmonies to work. Just make sure the guitar is in tune. It takes it's information from the guitar. Even if you're a little off on your voice , it'll still sound good as long as you're close to the pitch of the guitar.

  • Hi. Great demo. The only thing you didn't go through is the pitch correct. I just bought one of these and I love it but, with the pitch correct on and all effects and harmonies off, it gives me a weird main vocal sound. Short delay or something. I can't get it to stop and it's annoying. Do you have that problem at all?

  • @NHLManiac97 I don't normally use the pitch control. I tried it out , but you're right . It does give off this weird double voicy type sound that has an echo-ee vibe to it. Sometimes I use it when want to get a double voiced sound. I tend to sing on the flat side of notes and I think that's why it gets that sound , because it applies the exact correct pitch to the notes and combines it with my flat pitch notes ?

  • Hi! Is there a megaphone Fx or something like that?

  • @alexmuschio1 There is NO megaphone FX on this unit.

  • @Ryedor thanks a lot

  • @alexmuschio1 Have a look at the Digitech Vocal 300 . It'll give you lots of FX for your voice. You can prolly chain it with the VL3 as well and get some wild harmonies happening. Run the VL3 XLR out into the 300 and then to the board.

  • @Ryedor it could be a solution...I prefer just one foot controller, and the 300 had NO harmonies, isn't it? I'll see....thanks

  • @alexmuschio1 Yes , I believe the 300 is strictly effects ..no harmonies. I know that the VL4 does have effects as well as harmonies. There is a VL5 out on the market as well . It might be even more versatile.

  • @Ryedor I think so....but it's also more expensive....;)

  • @alexmuschio1 Keep an eye out for used VL4's they'll be coming down in price because of the new VL5's. The VL5 looks swweeeeeeeeeeeeet. lol Only in my dreams. haha.

  • thanks for very helpful review! hoping to get one soon! Just trying to figure out all the connections.

  • Thanks for your quick reply Ryedor.

  • Nice overview Ryedor. Does it have pitch correction?

  • @anointed01 Yes it does have pitch correction. On the left hand side , there is a small button to turn it on or off , + there is a knob that controls the "degree" of correction.

  • Thanks for your reply, will give it a shot and let you know how it turns out.

  • Like your vid. Wondering if possible to connect V3 to mixer thru aux send/rec in a way that would allow all mic's on mixer to pass thru V3 for harmony. I know at least one guitar would have to go thru V3 for pitch correction. Thanks

  • @tlaughbaum The McGuyver spirit !! Just off the top of my head I'm thinking you'll need two mixers . 1st mixer ..run all the "vocal" mics into it. Run the line outs into the 2nd mixer. Turn down the guitar volume control on the VL3 and run the guitar "out" from the VL3 into only the 2nd mixer. Run everything else into only the 2nd mixer. If you try it with just one mixer , I think you'll get some really weird looping happening. lol Let me know how it works out. :)))

  • this is a great informative video .. does it have loops on its own?

  • @JimMyYo10 I'm not sure about the question. If you're thinking "presets" .. no ..it's very basic .. easy to set up your own harmonies. The VL4 has presets.

  • Hi Ryedor, It worked! We daisy chained 2 vocalist 3 like you said using one guitar. The setup was fast and simple. Thanks again.

  • @ultratechnician That's great ! I'm thinking you could get some pretty cool harmonies from the combo. I wonder how 3 .. VL3's would work ? lol Thanks for letting us know. :)

  • Give it a try Ultra .. and let us know how it all worked out. I'm sure there are others who would be interested in your results. Thanks.

  • Hey Ryedor. Thanks for the information. I'll do that on my next practice with the band. I just wonder if the quitarist will loose any power going thru two VL3.

  • Hi Ultra. I think the VL3's can be chained. Each VL3 will require a chanel on your mixer. Guitar into the first VL3 (1/4"). Run a 1/4" cable from the guitar "out" on the first VL3 and run it into the guitar "in" jack on the 2nd VL3. Now you have a single guitar running into two VL3s. From the guitar "out" jack on the 2nd VL3 , run a line into your amp. Vocal out from each VL3 (XLRs) into the board.

  • Can you connect 2 Digitech Vocalist 3 together using 1 electric guitar, an amp that goes to the mixer. I'm playing bass and it doesn't work with that of course. If can, how do you hook it up?

  • Hi Jay. The trick to using this is to " not "overuse" it and set the harmony levels to a point where they aren't overriding your main voice. Also , let your audience "in" on the effect. Do a bit of a demo for them using a bit of humour explaining it's easier to work with than most musicians , no attitudes , no egos , no arguments etc etc. lol The controls on the unit allow you "humanize" and add "warmth" to the voicings. It really does sound good. The audience will love it.

  • @Ryedor Great tips. Thanks for the ideas.

  • hi there. I'm thinking of getting a VL3 - there aren't many reviews online... do you find the VL3 is fairly realistic, ie doesn't sound too gimiky? I'm getting one because i want to add some harmony to my solo sets... would be great to get your opinion, thanks mate, J.
