I'm so hooked on this piece. Tubby was such a dynamic influence in British jazz, his work will be giant always. What a tragic loss to jazz fans all over the world.
I love the way Tubby builds into solo's a lot like at 6.04. You see him do the same in the 'In the Night' clip as well. It's like he comes in a bar or so early. Truly a virtuoso musician.
Trumpets are Greg Bowen, Les Condon, Hank Shaw and Ian Hamer - all such loved guys. So the lead would, I'm guessing, be either Bowen or Hamer (I'd say Bowen if I were pushed).

Great video, thanks for the upload! Any idea who that lead trumpet player is? He was on fire (A little sharp on that double C but who cares)! Thanks,
James

I've watched this so many times. I don't know; there's just something about it. And, man, Tubby could play.

wonderful! thanks so much for posting! This is my favourite track from The Orchestra album. Any chance the poster has the rest of "You Know I Care"?

Nice solo Louis. Now a trademark, his then pre-pubescent moustache needs work.
