As somebody who played bass covering these songs back when they first came out and as someone who continues to play live weekly I can tell you that it makes no fucking difference if you use a pick or don't. As long as you make it sound good nobody should give a fuck how you do it. If you want to play funk or r&b then lose the pick. If you want to play fast punk or surf then break it out and rock on. I wish you had played Winabago warrior.

To clarify, "lipstick tube" video camera just means a small camera head. Using a digital "point and shoot" is technically similar. You did a clever camera angle, it informs and teaches the viewer. SOLID BASS playing, doing a great job. Kicks butt to the 19th degree.
