I plan to get a Brazilian Rainbow Boa once I turn 18, right now I have 2 Bearded Dragons, 2 Tokay Geckos, a Leopard Gecko, a Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula, and in about a month I am getting 3 Long Tail Lizards. The only reason it is going to take a month is because I have to buy 2 lighting fixtures(a heat lamp and a UVB for live plants), a screen top for the 30gallon tank, plants, vines, water bowl(I might buy them a Exo-Terra small waterfall for humidity reasons), and more.
my ball pythons has actualy NEVE balled up once. he's a little over a year and a half and around 27 in. Very great to handle. very interactive and docile. never had him strick. never had him stressed enough to ball up. same with my cuz's 4 year old female.

zangetsumasamune........ Live vs F/T has been a debate forever! I personally believe in the F/T method. A snake does not need to "hone" his skills in captivity. Its not like they have a chance to miss meals when a good owner is feeding regularly. I had 18 at one point and not one ate live. I refused becasue I have seen bad photos of war wounds with rats. Like a pet snake missing an eye, being chewed up and nasty infections. from a dirty feeder scratching the snake while it is struggling.

Losing your O2 is losing your O2. There's nothing peaceful about it unless another agent is introduced to knock you out, first. Given the choice, I'll take NO, thank you. CO2 would be almost as scary as being attacked by a python -- the difference being in the attack, not in the physiology of the death.
Keep in mind that the only people who say this are not people who have compared the experiences, nor do they tend to be pathologists (etc). Rather, they tend to be know-little FT activists.

I plan to get a Brazilian Rainbow Boa once I turn 18, right now I have 2 Bearded Dragons, 2 Tokay Geckos, a Leopard Gecko, a Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula, and in about a month I am getting 3 Long Tail Lizards. The only reason it is going to take a month is because I have to buy 2 lighting fixtures(a heat lamp and a UVB for live plants), a screen top for the 30gallon tank, plants, vines, water bowl(I might buy them a Exo-Terra small waterfall for humidity reasons), and more.

my ball pythons has actualy NEVE balled up once. he's a little over a year and a half and around 27 in. Very great to handle. very interactive and docile. never had him strick. never had him stressed enough to ball up. same with my cuz's 4 year old female.

is it dangerous to feed it in it's enclosure like that? i'd be scared it would associate the open door with feeding time and perhaps strike while handling. too heavy to move? i have a ball(yea i know..no comparison to size and heft) and i always move it to a separate container to feed. i like my digits where they are...intact X-D. just curious.

And for those dummies who think they should feed snakes live prey, consider this: Only IDIOTS feed live prey to their snakes. 1)Live prey can seriously injure a snake. They lose eyes, get infections. 2) It is not necessary to cause pain, fear, torment and suffering to the prey. The snake is just as happy if the prey is humanely killed prior to feeding. 3) Anyone who provides live prey is a sick fuck.
