Bush Jr kicked the can down the road. He is the ultimate credit card President who maxed out the cards and handed the bill to the future generations. And the Tea Party never said a word.
If the tea party had said anything then they might have a little bit of credibility. As of now they have none, nada, zero credibility.
What the little girl in the video is really saying is our president is wrong pigmentated.
The Tea party first gathered in December 2007 against George Bush and in favor of Ron Paul. Thats right, while Bush was president the tea partiers were in protest against him (and most of our government in general).
The gathering was to get the message of Ron Paul out (lower taxes, end the wars etc)
And how is congress able to spend more after tax revenue? Oh, that's right, the federal reserve is there to print more. Ron Paul is the only hope. End the FED!
Trying to relate the national to a households debt is utterly simplistic and asinine. A household does not have a whole team of economic advisers. A household cannot print it's own money. A household has only 2-6 roughly financial decision makers, on average. ( who knows what the average is, it's less than the Federal Government.)
@trashcanman333...the govt has tried a war on poverty and has made the problem worse. Ron Paul would better regulate the economy by not saving the banks from bankruptcy. I agree with Jess, Ron Paul 2012!
A lack of competitiveness in the health care sector is one of the leading causes of the debt crises. Much of the health care industry's administrative staff is grossly overpaid and inefficient.
@1217jesss If Ron Paul got everything he wanted, the country would be destroyed. Only about 1/4 of the states would live above poverty, every southern school would open every class with a prayer, companies could do w/e they wanted without any regulations. They'd just dump all the waste in the rivers again, get rid of all employee benefits, wages would drop dramaticly. I love his foreign policy, but it's way too late to try and do half the shit he wants to do.
@Trashcanman333 o.k. Let me get this straight. Continue with the dictator wellfare, continue crony corporate welfare and bail wall street, continue a failed war on drugs and build more prisons, continue no win wars around the world and rebuild foreign countries after bombing them, continue massive spending on worthless government agencies, continue wth our monetary policy that destroys our dollar, keep borrowing from china to pay for our entitlements, end our liberties & frdom. OK IF U SAY SO!
What makes you think Ron Paul would let companies dump pollution into our enviroment? You've been brainwashed by the corporate media. Right now companies are dumping tons of pollutions into the enviroment and people can't sue them because they lobby the Government to protect them. The Corporatism that we have today is worse than Ron Paul's vision because if Ron Paul had his way I would actually be able to win a lawsuit against a company if they polluted my property.
@Trashcanman333 : eh? more crazy batshit from the DNC's dept of propaganda / misinformation:
Well, let's see: average Americans owe hundreds of thousands in credit card, auto, mortgage debts; corporations already write most of their regulation, addition to billions of subsidies and free-money from the gov't; much of average Joe's workers' wealth is wiped by the rising costs in medicine, education and food costs from the gov't inflation.
I'm not too crazy about Ron Paul's foreign policy, but
Why do Republicans act as if raising the debt ceiling is purely a Democratic move? Bush raised the ceiling 8 times. And why do they think the $14 trillion deficit was Obama's fault. He' only contributed $1.4 trillion. Wake up you fucking moronic Republicans/Tea partiers, the debt was caused by Bush's two wars and his tax cuts. Using the example from the video, if the debt is like your credit card, then tax cuts are like asking your boss to pay you LESS in order to pay off your bills.
".. raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. …"
And the fact that most democrats opposed Bush's debt limit increase a few years ago, when the increment was so much smaller than Obama's increase. Any question?
@tooltalk Don't be another retarded right-winger, don't forget to include Republican hypocrisy too. Republicans raised the debt limit 7 times under Bush, and 18 times under your party's hero, Reagan. Raising the debt limit is something both parties do.
@GrowMasterGeneral do your research how much was the total dollar amount for President Regan 18 times. Then compare that to Obama .I think you will be Very Very surprised.
Jimmy Carter's administration delivered the lowest federal debt in US history. So maybe the tea party should make President Carter their champion for change?
@hellopendejos How does Jimmy Carter beat Andrew Jackson who totally paid of the National debt? Why don't you liberals ever know what the hell your talking about?
@willyswear You wanna make Andrew Jackson your role model? The guy whose mission it was to eliminate the entire race of native americans? The guy who is responsible for the trail of tears. The guy responsible for the Indian Removal Act. They use to call him "King Jackson" because of his abuse of power. But hey, he paid off the debt so he's a good guy, right?
@MrJeggus You didn't pay for it and you never will pay for it. What you paid was used to pay others who were already in the program. Medicare and Social Security are nothing more than welfare programs. You need to face that fact, and that they are BROKE!
wow, too bad she isn't smart enough to figure out that when you have unfunded commitments you raise revenue. Ofourse we do have the option to allow senior citizens to be allowed to live in poverty and starve to death after they retire, and the sick and handicapped to be denied healthcare, left to die in the streets. I guess we will hardly notice the crumbling infrastructure when the dead and dying are left piling up in the streets!!
@DarthTroller You should work for the President. Let's scare people with fairy tales about old people dying in the streets starving and sick. None of which has or will ever happen. You know there are things called the "states" and "local communities" which were taking care of these concerns long before the federal government got involved and screwed it up.
@CommonSenseJoe Really? Which local communities were those? You seem to be somewhat unfamiliar with the history of the United States. It has happened and will happen again. Why would I want to work for an effete president like Obama? I'll wait for someone like Robspierre to rise up and then I will work for him.
@DarthTroller I am very familiar with history, and no, it would NOT happen again. Today, it costs nearly 2/3 of every dollar to deliver the other 1/3 in welfare. Private charities and churches, on average, costs 1/3 to deliver 2/3 of every dollar to those who need help. By shifting these programs to the states and communities, the federal government can save and actually help MORE. However, then Washington can no longer buy votes with our own money.
@CommonSenseJoe If you are very familiar with history then I assume that you know who Thomas Malthus is and if you did, then you know what the future of the US truely is. Your numbers are flawed in regards to private charities. Even so, funding would have to come from somewhere. The world is not all sunshine and waterfalls. The notion that private charities are going to help anyone with anything is kind of silly, lol.
@DarthTroller No, my numbers are QUITE CORRECT! We have spend trillions of dollars on the poor, the old, and downtrodden. What do we have to show for it? More, not less! Your notion that the FEDERAL government is and can do a better job of dealing with these problems than the states and the local communities is simply NOT supported by the facts. These have a greater accountability to the people and do a better job of actually solving the problem. All Washington wants is dependency.
@CommonSenseJoe No your numbers are completely wrong. So I guess Herbert Hoover did a much better job than FDR! lol!! Your embrace of ignorance and misinformation is quite impressive and uniquely American. Have fun being a slave to the corporate hegemony, lol
if FDR let the market correct itself the depression would have been over within a year, just as it was in 1921.
The exact same scenerio repeated only this time the government (including hoover) felt the need to manipulate the market. Wow the fact you believe what you type is scary.
@DarthTroller Just saying my numbers are wrong does not make them wrong. Regardless, it costs MORE for the government to help people than for the local communities to help people. The local communities will not just hand out money to people. They will have more innovative ways of helping the poor and elderly.
@CommonSenseJoe Just saying they are right doesn't make them right!! Making up facts as you go along doesn't make them true either. You seem to have a tight embrace on your little world of delusions. Good!! As your nation collapses back into the dark ages you can just keep telling yourself that everything is going to be alright. Silly little CommonNonsenseJoe. I bet you will be one of those that will believe that soylent green is really made from sea plankton.
@DarthTroller We will survive this President. We will continue to be the great nation we are. Interesting reference considering that most predictions had us overpopulated and destroying ourselves decades ago, hence the film. I think you are confused. Are you arguing for more government?
@CommonSenseJoe The US will not survive much longer. The name may continue, but the nation is failing. The film did make predictions about over population and destroying ourselves decades ago. All of which are coming true. The sea plankton is in fact dying and global warming is in fact happening, both predicted in this movie from 1973. The size of government is not as relevant as the purpose. Soon it will only exist to accomodate the corporations and enslave the people. This will happen!
@DarthTroller It was suppose to happen decades ago. It never did, and never will. Believe all that global warming nonsense you want. You better with the program however because the name has been changed to global climate change. I guess they found out we were not getting warmer.
@CommonSenseJoe What you believe, or what you call it is irrelevent. The average global temperature is rising, as are the sea levels, and polar ice caps are melting. The fact that people suffer under the delusion that they can appeal to a great number of the worlds population by repackaging it as global climate change doesn't change anything. The world is going to suffer a Mathusian Catastrophe. The living will soon envy the dead!
@CommonSenseJoe I'm not worried! I've come to enjoy the carnage! There is something perversely amusing in telling someone of their eminent doom knowing full well that they will do nothing to save themselves. Not that it would matter I suppose. Most of the human race will not survive this century even if they tried.
@CommonSenseJoe I'm imagining alot of sheep feel the same way, right up until the time they go to the slaughter house. There are two kinds of people in the world today, those who will be eating soylent green, and those who will be soylent green.
Debt is what accumulates when you start two major wars, pass a failed prescription program (Medicare D), give unsustainable tax cuts to everyone, and then leave office before paying your bill. The restaurant industry calls this "Chew and Screw".
@Diatonic5th All tax cuts are sustainable. If you cut my taxes to nothing I'll be just fine. What you mean to say is that is that the unproductive like yourself can't continue to have your way through life paid for by me if the federal government doesn't continue to steal from me.
@Diatonic5th wrong!!!! Bush is not only at fault for the debt! The tax cuts sky rocketed the economy and the 2 wars werent really that costly as compared to our other expenses. Obama has increased the national debt by 34% with unemployment at it highest. Yeah, bush is at some fault but i do believe the tax cuts were right. We were much better off under BUSH then obama as obama has spent the most than ANY U.S. president. Bush was a good president and didnt have time to fix the conomy and debt
@Diatonic5th : puahah! Debt is what accumulate when you continue two major wars (and escalate one of them) and start a new one in Libya, then pass a massive stimulus bill; bailout banks in predominantly democrat states like NY and CT; spend trillions to maintain interest-free money to prop up the failing banks and mortgage owners; then you blame the previous guy when hell breaks loose!
SS $was supposed to be in an 'untouched' lock box, however, the Gov't. has been transferring it to the General Fund 4 years & replacing it with IOUs. If that $ had remained untouched & invested in Treasury notes you would have had plenty of $. Now, with all the baby boomers retiring by the millions how ya gonna replace the $. It's either 3 - 4 workers now supporting 1 SS recipient & soon it will be 2 workers. Well, maybe even 1 for 1 as wages, therefore, ss deductions have declined & no jobs.
Yeah, cut the spending on medicare and social security so poor people (read blacks and hispanics) can die now in order to save (our precious white) rich kids in the future. The 2.7 trillion $ in tax cuts for the wealthiest is off the table as is the corporate jet tax and the military budget with 2 hugely unpopular wars.
The society the Republicans have been and want to create is so obviously based on greed, racism and militarism. All from a party which professes "Christians" morals. What a joke
@BrettDunbar Exactly my point, greedy racists preferring to fuck over minorities, poor and old people and bend over so the corporations can ream your ass out and laugh their asses off while you worship the superbowl commercials.
But please keep it, You tanked the dollar so much already, that here in Europe we get US shit and services for almost half the money now and it's about to plunge in another cliff while you still have 14 trillion to cough up :)
It's pretty obvious the republicans got us into this mess more than the democrats did. If you can't see this, then you fit right in with American politics. Just look at how well the lies in this propagandist video will do. AMERICA, #1 (but we lie, so maybe we lie about being #1 but who cares, IGNORANCE RULES MAN)
You should look up these "facts" and find out how they find them. Social Security has a surplus. They are trying to convince us it's all gone, but it isn't. They were never supposed to touch any of it, so how can it be gone? This is republican bullshit.
BTW, what we do about this is elect Ron Paul, and take a more libertarian approach to everything, something republicans hate.
Your calling me an “uninformed idiot” is an example of "Argumentum ad hominem"
I feel sorry for you, because I understand, that you have heard some views that are contradictory to your own, which requires that you block or swear to me. This feeling you have, is cognitive dissonance.
Maybe if you didn't sit there for 11 minutes trying to come up with some snarky response butthurt response, you would have seen I removed my comment out of respect.
every boomer must be like this guy because how else could they have stupidly and selfishly sold our children down the river so they could buy frivolous items on credit cards. The worst generation. My generation will have to make grave sacrifices to reverse your mistakes!
This is absolute propaganda horseshit. Do conservatives have absolutely no limit to the lies and outright deception they are willing to put out there to further their agenda? It's absolutely disgusting.
Social Sec has a 2.7 TRILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS & with interest on that & a slightly improving economy it should be okay until 2040 & you could reasonably means tests so it's not "unfunded" at all
With Soc Sec you've money coming in & going out
Now where you do have unfunded liabilities is at Defense. We have soldiers so badly injured now they could each costs us millions over the next 70 yrs
@treysparker -- It's a red herring - it would be more reasonable to calculate the ''unfunded liability" of White House yard work over the next 75 yrs & include that.
Social Security has a $2.7 Trillion Surplus & has money coming in & out with a minor adjustment such as means testing will be find.
The main way to fix the debt, which, oddly enough, NO politician is talking about is getting people back to work. Then again, this is a pointless discussion because if politicians were serious they would sit down and talk to each other to fix these problems. But no, people sit back and blame Obama for this crap, if people can't see that these politicians are screwing us in the ass then people are blind, they are paid by oil companies, activists, corporations and banks.
of course, go right after social welfare programs that help the unemployed, elderly, and the people who can't get by on their own. Defend the rich people and make sure they don't have to pay their fair share and heap all of the load on the middle class and make them suffer while the rich and giant corporations can relax
Apparently the RINOs and Donkeys decided to do what they always do when facing fiscal reality... stay in dreamland and keep on borrowing and spending. Sad day for America!
I would personally pay for one way ticket for you and your family to leave this country and never come back. It's you that will never fix America, It's you that has destroyed it.
@Amiaworld No one said this country is terrible. Just that it is broke, we just don't know it yet. The question is, will we leave this country better than our parents or are we just going to rape and pillage while it lasts?
If we are going to start forcibly evicting dictators at a cost of a billion dollars a day for humanitarian reasons, then we better darn well have a plan in paying back the tax payers borrowed money, Mr. Obama. The Arab League of nations needs to pony up. If not, then Libya can start paying for their freedom with an Oil for Arms program. This multi-trillion dollar nightmare has got to end! We can't be the police force for the entire world! This is the debt that is killing the economy!
@icimblind You know what also is killing the economy? The two wars that Bush started. Don't forget those Bush Tax cuts. Both presidents suck, but to say that Obama is the reason why we have a bad economy is wrong. Both Bush and Obama are the problems with the economy.
Afghanistan was always a haven for terrorists, they just grew out of control under Bill C. If we had left Iraq alone Saddam would have been fighting his neighbors, & the world wouldn't hate us. With that said, Obama followed Bush's tax cuts and that was a good idea, but starting more wars with no one to pay for the first two, is a horrible idea. Let's face it, Obama is economically challenged. If we are going to be freedom fighters for other countries, it is time they pay us back!
@icimblind Now due to the recent attacks in Norway, Norway is now a haven for terrorists, right? By your logic, they have now gotten out of control under their government. Wouldn't you also say that about the US, since that we were attacked by terrorists back at 9/11 and occasionally do get attacked by terrorists since then? We aren't under the term "war" with Libya, and Obama has been getting troops to leave out of Iraq. Thank Obama for getting troops out of Iraq tea-bagger.
My God man, please research Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden before you bloviate your ignorance. Don't become a fanatical Obama supporter. Like a jock strap you will support this nut no matter what he does. Tea bag this, I live in Canada, you far left loon!
Blame Bush, then Blame All the Democrats that also voted for both wars. They all were on board and condoned taking actions. If you want to lay blame, then mismanagement of the war in Iraq is appropriate, but Bush sure in hell didn't start a pre-existing war that had UN resolutions violated 24/7. Also, you aren't claiming that Bush planned and executed the 911 attacks, and that attacking the terrorists camps in Afghanistan was the wrong action, are you? Bush didn't start any wars.
so raise taxes let all rich an poor share the debt.equally

THAT IS WHY WE HAVE RON PAUL FOR 2012; YEAHH!!!
1217jesss 7 months ago
@1217jesss If Ron Paul got everything he wanted, the country would be destroyed. Only about 1/4 of the states would live above poverty, every southern school would open every class with a prayer, companies could do w/e they wanted without any regulations. They'd just dump all the waste in the rivers again, get rid of all employee benefits, wages would drop dramaticly. I love his foreign policy, but it's way too late to try and do half the shit he wants to do.
Trashcanman333 7 months ago
@Trashcanman333 o.k. Let me get this straight. Continue with the dictator wellfare, continue crony corporate welfare and bail wall street, continue a failed war on drugs and build more prisons, continue no win wars around the world and rebuild foreign countries after bombing them, continue massive spending on worthless government agencies, continue wth our monetary policy that destroys our dollar, keep borrowing from china to pay for our entitlements, end our liberties & frdom. OK IF U SAY SO!
1217jesss 7 months ago
@Trashcanman333

GrowMasterGeneral 7 months ago
@GrowMasterGeneral : eh? In 2006, Obama said:
".. raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.

@MrJeggus You didn't pay for it and you never will pay for it. What you paid was used to pay others who were already in the program. Medicare and Social Security are nothing more than welfare programs. You need to face that fact, and that they are BROKE!
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
wow, too bad she isn't smart enough to figure out that when you have unfunded commitments you raise revenue.
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller You should work for the President. Let's scare people with fairy tales about old people dying in the streets starving and sick. None of which has or will ever happen. You know there are things called the "states" and "local communities" which were taking care of these concerns long before the federal government got involved and screwed it up.
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe Really? Which local communities were those? You seem to be somewhat unfamiliar with the history of the United States. It has happened and will happen again. Why would I want to work for an effete president like Obama? I'll wait for someone like Robspierre to rise up and then I will work for him.
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller I am very familiar with history, and no, it would NOT happen again. Today, it costs nearly 2/3 of every dollar to deliver the other 1/3 in welfare. Private charities and churches, on average, costs 1/3 to deliver 2/3 of every dollar to those who need help. By shifting these programs to the states and communities, the federal government can save and actually help MORE. However, then Washington can no longer buy votes with our own money.
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe If you are very familiar with history then I assume that you know who Thomas Malthus is and if you did, then you know what the future of the US truely is. Your numbers are flawed in regards to private charities. Even so, funding would have to come from somewhere. The world is not all sunshine and waterfalls. The notion that private charities are going to help anyone with anything is kind of silly, lol.
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller No, my numbers are QUITE CORRECT! We have spend trillions of dollars on the poor, the old, and downtrodden. What do we have to show for it? More, not less! Your notion that the FEDERAL government is and can do a better job of dealing with these problems than the states and the local communities is simply NOT supported by the facts. These have a greater accountability to the people and do a better job of actually solving the problem. All Washington wants is dependency.
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe No your numbers are completely wrong. So I guess Herbert Hoover did a much better job than FDR! lol!! Your embrace of ignorance and misinformation is quite impressive and uniquely American. Have fun being a slave to the corporate hegemony, lol
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller
Wow you're bought into Keynesian history.
Thats so sad. I didnt know people still did.
Hoover was bad but FDR was worse.
if FDR let the market correct itself the depression would have been over within a year, just as it was in 1921.
The exact same scenerio repeated only this time the government (including hoover) felt the need to manipulate the market. Wow the fact you believe what you type is scary.
Propaganda really does work...jesus...
treysparker 7 months ago
@treysparker hahaha!! Keynian history? He wasn't a historian, lol He was an economist!! Now go take your ridilin : )
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller Just saying my numbers are wrong does not make them wrong. Regardless, it costs MORE for the government to help people than for the local communities to help people. The local communities will not just hand out money to people. They will have more innovative ways of helping the poor and elderly.
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe Just saying they are right doesn't make them right!! Making up facts as you go along doesn't make them true either. You seem to have a tight embrace on your little world of delusions. Good!! As your nation collapses back into the dark ages you can just keep telling yourself that everything is going to be alright. Silly little CommonNonsenseJoe. I bet you will be one of those that will believe that soylent green is really made from sea plankton.
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller We will survive this President. We will continue to be the great nation we are. Interesting reference considering that most predictions had us overpopulated and destroying ourselves decades ago, hence the film. I think you are confused. Are you arguing for more government?
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe The US will not survive much longer. The name may continue, but the nation is failing. The film did make predictions about over population and destroying ourselves decades ago. All of which are coming true. The sea plankton is in fact dying and global warming is in fact happening, both predicted in this movie from 1973. The size of government is not as relevant as the purpose. Soon it will only exist to accomodate the corporations and enslave the people. This will happen!
DarthTroller 7 months ago
@DarthTroller It was suppose to happen decades ago. It never did, and never will. Believe all that global warming nonsense you want. You better with the program however because the name has been changed to global climate change. I guess they found out we were not getting warmer.
CommonSenseJoe 7 months ago
@CommonSenseJoe What you believe, or what you call it is irrelevent. The average global temperature is rising, as are the sea levels, and polar ice caps are melting. The fact that people suffer under the delusion that they can appeal to a great number of the worlds population by repackaging it as global climate change doesn't change anything. The world is going to suffer a Mathusian Catastrophe. The living will soon envy the dead!
DarthTroller 7 months ago

Most of the human race will not survive this century even if they tried.

Debt is what accumulates when you start two major wars, pass a failed prescription program (Medicare D), give unsustainable tax cuts to everyone, and then leave office before paying your bill. The restaurant industry calls this "Chew and Screw".
Diatonic5th 7 months ago 21
@Diatonic5th All tax cuts are sustainable. If you cut my taxes to nothing I'll be just fine. What you mean to say is that is that the unproductive like yourself can't continue to have your way through life paid for by me if the federal government doesn't continue to steal from me.

@Diatonic5th wrong!!!! Bush is not only at fault for the debt! The tax cuts sky rocketed the economy and the 2 wars werent really that costly as compared to our other expenses.

Oh you got the information from a government website, yeah thats credible LOL
But even if you believe the surplus, its entirely irrelevant and doesnt refute the info in the video.
In 2010, SS paid out more than it took in, and in 2020 (although probably sooner) shit's really going to hit the fan. Check out the numbers yourself.
SS is an unfunded liability, based on a 75 year projection. The numbers in this video are entirely correct.
62 trillion is the latest objective estimate.

The main way to fix the debt, which, oddly enough, NO politician is talking about is getting people back to work. Then again, this is a pointless discussion because if politicians were serious they would sit down and talk to each other to fix these problems. But no, people sit back and blame Obama for this crap, if people can't see that these politicians are screwing us in the ass then people are blind, they are paid by oil companies, activists, corporations and banks.

icimblind 7 months ago 15
@icimblind You know what also is killing the economy? The two wars that Bush started. Don't forget those Bush Tax cuts. Both presidents suck, but to say that Obama is the reason why we have a bad economy is wrong. Both Bush and Obama are the problems with the economy.
rawrisluv 7 months ago
@rawrisluv
If we are going to be freedom fighters for other countries, it is time they pay us back!
icimblind 7 months ago
@icimblind Now due to the recent attacks in Norway, Norway is now a haven for terrorists, right? By your logic, they have now gotten out of control under their government. Wouldn't you also say that about the US, since that we were attacked by terrorists back at 9/11 and occasionally do get attacked by terrorists since then? We aren't under the term "war" with Libya, and Obama has been getting troops to leave out of Iraq. Thank Obama for getting troops out of Iraq tea-bagger.

Also, you aren't claiming that Bush planned and executed the 911 attacks, and that attacking the terrorists camps in Afghanistan was the wrong action, are you? Bush didn't start any wars.
